We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Just back from 5 mile run, and if anyone needs inspiration to get out there and exercise, Bob Dylan turns 80 on Monday, and was touring like a youngster until the china flu plandemic...just do it!
The white vulture migrates 4,000 miles. This beautiful migrating bird is threatened with extinction. Only five pairs remain, a decline from 70 pairs recorded in 2000.
The story of the Tecumseh statue on the Naval Academy grounds. He’s actually not Tecumseh. No modern story of a Native American would be complete with out woke crybabies; the perpetually offended.
AND flies tied by oneself. Such is a totally fun and sociable activity if one belongs to a local fly fishing club.
I inherited the fly rods of a great, great step uncle who lived in Cambridge MA and had his rods custom made, a thing not uncommon at the turn of the century. These are all salmon rods, and, of course, 9 feet long. There WERE salmon around Boston then. Imagine that. Woe is me that they are not rods I can use at the creek 1200' from my house on the White Clay Creek in PA (trout aplenty). I am NOT going on $10,000 fishing trips to thrilling Canadian and western venues just to use these rods. I must say I do get them out and just groove on them!
