Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Maryland A.G. To Appoint Panel To Audit Record of Chauvin Expert Witness Dr. David Fowler
QUOTE: Chauvin had two experts who testified — one (Barry Brodd) had his house targeted and the other (Dr. David Fowler) his professional license attacked. This will make it difficult if not impossible for the three other officers awaiting trial to hire expert witnesses. . . . Dr. Fowler now is being targeted professionally, in moves which I predict are intended to render him unable to be an expert witness ever again, and even a vindictive attempt to pull his medical license. https://legalinsurrection.com/2021/05/maryland-a-g-to-appoint-panel-to-audit-record-of-chauvin-expert-witness-dr-david-fowler/ Whether they destroy him or not, this should send a message to every expert witness that they may be harassed and/or ruined if they testify for the wrong people. That is very disturbing. It wasn’t good enough that Chauvin was found guilty on all counts, with a parti pris jury (one activist that we know of; I suspect the others were to frightened to do anything else - who can blame them?). All dissent must be rooted out and punished. Never go full marxist.
*Note that I don’t think Chauvin is some angle. His type give cops a bad name everywhere. It's not that people don't want to work, in my opinion. That implies people are not naturally industrious. The problem is one of incentivization. The government has disastrously established an incentive not to work. They did it under the auspices of an emergency and now have perpetuated it to buy votes. It's an attractive nuisance.
What it has done is forced people to place a value on their time. Would you rather burn 40 hours a week on a thankless job with no satisfaction, or receive about the same amount and have all your time to yourself, to do as you please? Of course, if you're working, you're not spending money. If you're not working, you're figuring out ways to to enjoy your time while not spend very much. It'll be getting much harder to explain free money / no work as states continue to open up. The problem will come when it's time to vote and 'Mo Free Money' is on the ballot. Experts project anyone who earned $32,000 before COVID could now earn MORE in benefits staying at home.
Earn? What earn? These layabouts aren't lillies of the field, who neither spin nor sow, they're bloated and neglected BlueAnon housepets who most meaningful contribution to society is flatulence. Decades from now, they'll discover they have accumulated no social security benefits, and they'll be consigned to some ratty residence hotel, eating boiled cabbage, undercooked beans, and cat food. That's what they will have earned. Decades from now? Do any of them live beyond 10 minutes from now?
Never do I cease to be amazed by the creativity of the Marxist-Leftist religion, having patiently crafted their tenets so as to prey upon the weakest, ugliest, most selfish part of human nature which easily succumbs to the false belief that one can get something for nothing. What it has done is forced people to place a value on their time. Would you rather burn 40 hours a week on a thankless job with no satisfaction, or receive about the same amount and have all your time to yourself, to do as you please?
I agree and believe this also applies to the arguments regarding the male female wage gap. Though supporters will reject the similarities. In the wage gap argument, dollars earned are counted in full value while the value of time off is discounted to zero. A female teacher with summers off, might earn less than her husband working a full year in the maintenance department for the same school district. Ask the teacher if she would trade their time off for the difference in pay and you will often hear a most definitive no thank you. Though in more colorful language. Same with benefits. A woman working at a job that pays $40k and includes health insurance for the entire family, is calculated as earning less than the male who works for $45k with lesser benefits. I know there will be no consistency across these arguments. But I thought it worth considering just the same. Understand that unemployed "single mothers" with three kids get between fifty and sixty thousand dollars a year in welfare and other benefits in my city, and you will understand the destruction of the family and why there are no fathers to these kids.
1. The term "federal/state/city funding" ought to be banned, as all the money comes from individuals who buy and pay taxes.
2. Individuals who buy from businesses pay for any taxes, fees and fines on businesses -- a tax on a company is a tax on the buyer. 3. Benefit payments, every cent paid for by individuals who buy and are taxed, may be a "deep strategy" to compel employers to pay a $15 minimum wage, every cent of which is paid by individuals who buy and are taxed. There seems no ceiling on the wage, nor on the percentage who will stop working, because it doesn't seem worth it, when one sees drones buying steak, while you buy hamburger. "Nobody wants to work anymore."
I do, and will - until they make the 19 "vaccine" mandatory to do so. Enough with Wind Power
From the link: QUOTE: In March the select board in Scituate, Mass.,ordered a wind turbine in the coastal town to be shut down at night from mid-May to mid-October. The problem, according to the Boston Globe: complaints from neighbors who say “they can’t sleep at night because of noise” the wind turbine makes. The planning board in Foster, R.I., voted 5-1 on April 7 to ban wind turbines. The board took action after hearing from residents of Portsmouth, R.I., who had turbines built near their homes. Take a look at a U.S. Wind Speed Map. Note where there are a lot of wind turbines: western parts of Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, for example. Compare the wind speeds there to those in Rhode Island or Massachusetts. It appears to me that those who wanted to have wind turbines in Rhode Island or Massachusetts were doing to on the basis of virtue signaling- the "good" thing to do- instead of economics. Put wind turbines where the wind speed is high enough. Yes, better to place them in areas with low population density. Reintroducing wolves is also an effort to ruin cattle ranching. I live in Northern Wisconsin. DNR minimizes the number of wolves.
Every cattle owner around here has experienced loss of stock. The do gooders in Madison and other urban areas should not be determining our lives. The wolves were not missed. I would like to protect the Norway Rat in these urban areas. Will do my heart good just to know they’re out there China Pacific naval base, wait, what? It's on the Indian Ocean and the article says it would provide access to the Atlantic. I guess it's a "Pacific" base because it is "peaceful", that sense of Pacific.
I am reminded of the Soviet line: "Socialism means peace."
Tacitus could tell us about peace. Dear Farmers of Maggie —
OFF TOPIC, but HIGHLY RELEVANT. When I try to load this site, it takes about 2 whole minutes by the clock before anything appears. At the bottom of the browser window while something is going on, there's a little notice that says, "Looking up publisher.getkept.com..." I'm using Firefox, but I get the same runaround with Chrome, and Safari as well. This molasses-in-January response frankly discourages me from visiting the site. What's going on? I use Brave, and have no problem on Maggie's Farm getting up to speed.
I don't have any problems using Firefox, and that's on a pretty old laptop. Suggest you try getting rid of all the add-ons and see if that makes a difference, and also make sure you're running an up-to-date version. Hope this helps.
Site loads very fast for me on Safari (both iPad and iPhone).
Using Firefox...hummm
