Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

“Cities Will Be on Fire” – Black Lives Matter Activist Warns “All Hell Will Break Loose” If Officer Chauvin Is Not Convicted in George Floyd case
Andrew Branca at LegalInsurrection.com should be required reading. The MN 'dream team' prosecution is going down in flames. Unfortunately Minneapolis will likely go up in flames after the verdict is announced just in time for riot season to start. I was listening to NPR's report about the day's testimony of the trial late last night in the car, having already read Mr. Branca's report at LegalInsurrection.
Like several other notable newsworthy trials in recent years, if this one does not end in conviction, there will be lots of very surprised people. And people who will think it was a 'fix'. They will only be surprised because their news sources have intentionally left out any of the testimony showing the prosecution's case in a bad light, or that shows the defense position to be correct. Chauvin trial: Based on what I've heard so far and reasonable doubt is a factor, I think an unbiased juror would have a hard time convicting for negligence or reckless endangerment let alone any of the murder charges. The girlfriend blew up the narrative and the black hat could very well fit the drug dealer.
As for the media, like a commenter wrote on "Small Dead Animals", they are McBeth's hags stirring the cauldron with glee; it is their revenue stream after all. The media will be largely responsible for the aftermath. We know that the media withholds inculpatory or exculpatory evidence based on race, but don't give their audience a pass, they are tuned in to hear what they want to hear. I wouldn't rely on the fact that the victim was severely intoxicated.
Proposed third degree murder jury instructions in this case. QUOTE: The fact that other causes contribute to the death does not relieve the defendant of criminal liability. ... ... An action that occurs before the defendant’s conduct and is not the sole cause of the death does not constitute a superseding cause. a superseding cause would be a defense, but it is not here. https://www.mncourts.gov/mncourtsgov/media/High-Profile-Cases/27-CR-20-12646/ProposedJuryInstructions04012021.pdf Just out of curiosity, how much do you get paid per post, and who pays you?
Let's just say I own shirts that are worth more than your car.
Got a problem with the jury instructions or are you just jealous because you couldn't figure that out on your own? Anything productive to add? Just kidding. Don't bother. You'll be wrong anyway. QUOTE: Let's just say I own shirts that are worth more than your car. Hahahaaaa! The sales people must love it when you walk in the door. Hey, hey, here comes that guy that will pay $1,200 dollars for a $200 dollar shirt. Thanks for the laugh.

A superseding cause is Floyd taking a terminal dose of drugs before the officers even talked to him. Cause of death is suicide by drug overdose. Additional video also shows that Chavins knee was on Floyds shoulder and not on his neck. The family and family lawyer already got what they wanted...MONEY.
This is what the jury will be told, same source:
QUOTE: However, the defendant is not criminally liable if a “superseding cause” caused the death. A “superseding cause” is a cause that comes after the defendant’s acts, alters the natural sequence of events, and produces a result that would not otherwise have occurred. An action that occurs before the defendant’s conduct and is not the sole cause of the death does not constitute a superseding cause. You do know that the autopsy clearly states that the dead drug addict did NOT die from the knee on his neck. Zero evidence of strangling. Of course you know that, you know everything. So why are you lying? Oh! That's right you are a lawyer (or play one online) and you always lie.
Actually I am. Upset that mayors and governors are working with terrorists and against our police. Upset that so many of our politicians are either too afraid to put a stop to it OR they think it is good for their interests. Upset that evil is winning.

and for the record, here's the autopsy
https://www.hennepin.us/-/media/hennepinus/residents/public-safety/documents/floyd-autopsy-6-3-20.pdf so tell me where the report, "clearly states that the dead drug addict did NOT die from the knee on his neck." Don't lie. Don't run away again. NECK: Layer by layer dissection of the anterior strap muscles of
the neck discloses no areas of contusion or hemorrhage within the musculature. The thyroid cartilage and hyoid bone are intact. The larynx is lined by intact mucosa. The thyroid is symmetric and red-brown, without cystic or nodular change. The tongue is free of bite marks, hemorrhage, or other injuries. The cervical spinal column is palpably stable and free of hemorrhage.

"New York City faces doom. I doubt it"
It's relative. Imagine you own a business and you are now bankrupt. Is that "doom"? Tens of thousands of New Yorkers are bankrupt and it ain't over yet. Is that "doom". Not if it isn't you. Charles Murray (The Bell Curve and others) had a very good response to the United Airlines announcement that racial/sexual profiling would now take a deciding role in their pilot selection process:
"There are well-validated tests of flying aptitude. It seems a reasonable thing for United to reassure us by posting means and SDs (Standard Deviations) of its pilots by ethnicity" You can't judge by a standard of flight performance if there's a requirement for certain ethnicities.
Or dare I say 'quotas'? Don't know about you, but I want the most competent, qualified pilot hauling my precious hindquarters around that the airline can find - not someone who's there because they're "well, he's almost good enough and the right color'. That's how you break planes and kill people in the long run. Our economic system is premised on the idea that we exchange our wealth for things of value, making an economy as a result. We can claim as our right an insistence that the efforts toward creating that value are whole-hearted and honest.
So when atheletes start taking a knee and imposing social engineering distractions, their athletic efforts are no longer whole-hearted. The game suffers, as does the revenue. Likewise, when the razor blade maker starts espousing examples of trendy social issues, they are no longer wholly focused on their product. Accordingly, their revenues and profits suffered. You notice we haven't seen any more of those commercials. It's amazing (to me) that billion-dollar corporations are led by such board-approved cowards, who apparently think of themselves as social leaders. But they're not leading in my opinion, they're simply advocating their way toward almost certain detriment while thinking they have some piece of the market cornered. But rather than having the market cornered, I think these companies will find themselves in a corner, by their own misguided navigation. Because nobody wants to stake money on their well-being -or even their comfort or entertainment - for a lesser quality product. Nobody wants a politically-attuned, racially-correct, gender-aware brain surgeon. The market place will unmistakably speak, as it has been doing. I guess we'll just have to put up with some misery and keep voting with our pocketbook until the fad clears out. In Africa it is common that Africans first look into the cockpit to see who the pilot is. If it is a black African they de-plane and catch another flight. The local black African pilots have a terrible history of ineptitude.
After a few scary near-misses on Ethiopian* this non-African made sure every flight through the Horn was on Lufthansa and Air France. Turkish Airways pilots are also more competent.
-- *https://www.flyingmag.com/ethiopian-airlines-787-nose-gear-collapses-at-gate/ The actual story is the pilots kept getting a barber pole (unsafe gear indication) on the nose gear. It seemed to clear up when they recycled the gear handle while parked at the gate and going through their pre-flight checklist, so they did that instead of getting it fixed. They did this a couple times. Unfortunately their stupidity caught up with them when the ground crew pulled the nose gear safety pin a bit early, and this time cycling the gear handle dropped the nose on the deck. Dr. Fauci Can't Explain Why Texas COVID Cases Keep Dropping Despite Reopening: HINT!!: It's the WIDE OPEN SPACES...

"New York City faces doom. I doubt it"
Remember: when it comes to government funding, a flat annual budget is actually a budget cut because of cost of living increases in salaries and benefits. Even a cut of 10-15% will require layoffs. The people who go to work for the government or not the sort of people who are OK with getting laid off. Prepare for screams of agony at any and all budget reductions. Sam is correct, it is the wide open spaces. At least the wide open spaces contribute. Right now in Texas, the weather is beautiful and everyone is outside. Out in the relatively humid environment. As opposed to being inside in the relatively dry environment. We'll see an uptick in the "case" count in July when people move back indoors to the relatively dry air conditioned environment.
Same thing happened last year. It's as if the public health officials on tv are incapable of noticing things. They are as capable as anyone to notice “things”. It’s just that they are fully committed to hiding the inconvenient “‘things”’ they (and most sentient beings) see happening.
