Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Gen X culture.........
Tim Pool, who has a significant audience of young viewers, urges an effort to change the narrative and change the culture with a more positive slant. In many ways, that is just what Trump did. He lifted the Deplorables by sheer force of will and optimism. There should be some awareness, by now, that facts, patient reasoning, sarcasm, pointing out hypocrisy, and calling people “commies”, has little effect. I refer you to the bungled Senate campaigns in Georgia. The Georgia Rs, dominated by dinosaurs, totally disregarded American populism and opted for the Cold War memes. They managed to sound stupid, out of touch, and tone deaf. The real battle is against the powers who advocate for “Der Staat uber Alles”, the top down coercive, “sciency” regulatory state, characterized by: one size fits all central planning, concentrating wealth and power into fewer and fewer hands, representing the interests of the Bureaucracy and the Globalists to the detriment of everyone else. In other words they support the antithesis of the Enlightenment and the Constitution, by any means necessary. The Deplorables are not powerless. They can use cash, they can avoid corrupt social media, they can avoid doing business with people who mean them harm and demonize them, they can support American businesses and like minded individuals socially and monetarily, and they can throw sand into the gears of the surveillance Tech Giants and the State by searching on nonsense entering bogus data and diluting and undermining the value of their products. Just my opinion, I’m hopeful that reducing their revenues of the Tech Giants just might get their attention like nothing else will. Finally, James Lindsay, has pointed out that what, at long last, undermined the Soviet Nomenklatura was ridicule and mockery; they became the butt of the joke. Humor is a powerful weapon, but it has to be smart, incisive, and on target, the thing that makes you snort before you can stop yourself. The good news about the Establishment is that they are hobbled by many who are mediocre, whose primary skills are kowtowing and networking. The bad news is that they are terrified of their fellow travelers turning on them. Yes, this is what Irish Democracy looks like in the 21st century. I’ve barely scratched the surface and invite more ideas. I like the way you think, Exasperated. Tim Pool strikes me as a real leader with courage and integrity.
The linked piece was good too — the time for the counter-insurgency is actually past, and the task only gets harder with the passage of time, but better late than never. One thing is for sure, what we’ve been doing so far is like bringing a knife to a gunfight. Much as I hate to click on a link from The Graudian, I did so just to confirm my suspicion of what they were talking about with "seafood fraud" and, sure enough, they're not talking about "seafood", they're talking about mislabeled fish which has been a problem for years and years and years. If you're buying fresh whole fish from the local fishmonger, you can tell one species of fish from another, but if you're buying frozen fish fillets at the supermarket or prepared fish dishes from a restaurant, who knows if you're getting the expensive fish or the cheap substitute? Since they're having to send this fish off to a lab for analysis, I'm guessing most people can't tell the difference. It's like buying the top shelf booze or the expensive bottle of wine - are you sure you can tell the difference between the good stuff and the cheap, especially after you've had a couple of drinks? I wouldn't bet on it. But this story is nothing new and it's not as "alarming" as they'd have you believe if nobody can tell the difference anyway.
Here in WISCONSIN, where fish fry culture is strong, the Milwaukee newspaper did an investigative piece on the fish being served at various Friday fish fries including DNA analysis. As I recall, even several of the top shelf restaurants were selling lesser fish varieties as premium varieties. Overall there were few instances where the fish variety was as advertised. ‘‘Twas scandalous!
There is a search of Tucker's history to find some woman he offended or some POC he slighted. One will be found even if like so many other times they will be fake. Tucker must go.
Make no mistake Trump didn't create the angry people on the right. The angry people on the left created them and all Trump did was recognize them. The law abiding people on the right don't get the press that the left wing thugs and terrorist people do but they are there and have been for years. That is what the Tea Party was before it was sabotaged by the left and GOPe. It is even bigger now since the left has become more aggressive in their attempts to move our country far left. This can't be stopped. The only way to prevent civil war is to come back to our constitution. My wife likes to watch The Bachelor. I find it so scripted and so PC that I can't even watch it so I put on a movie on my laptop. Yesterday after the regular showing of The Bachelor the show switched to having a black man spend some time "black splaining" how we Americans are all racists and need to be sent to reeducation camps. Thankfully it was at that point my wife was fed up with the creeping racism in the regular part of the show and the much more blatant racism of the black splainer was the last straw and she changed the channel.
I won't watch anymore sports on TV because of the blatant black racism. I have never watched the oscars and other hollywood shows so I can't claim to have quit watching them because of the black racism. I suppose enough people will embrace this new racism to allow them to keep spewing it on TV but I am so done with it. I gave up watching sports because it was no longer sports that I was watching. I gave up watching news for a similar reason. I've found that I have no interest in taking part in the charade, but then I've never been particularly keen on gaining the approval from The Group. I hardly watch TV anymore unless it's something edifying and interesting, like a good documentary or the Three Stooges.
No sympathy for Mrs. Ozzy after her many antics, not the least of which was she and he cohorts making a mockery of the Catherine Kieu incident. She's a pig.

Speaking of fish fraud: I remember a story a while back about pork bung being sliced, breaded, and passed off as calamari.
If you thought the CDC recommendations for masking of pre-schoolers was bad, Peel Health (Ontario, Canada) issued instructions that any child sent home from school or daycare because a classmate has tested positive for Covid was to be isolated in a separate room from all other family members for 14 days. These instructions were revoked after widespread outrage at their recommending what would under any other circumstances be considered serious child abuse. However, some misguided parents did try to follow these instructions and were going on-line about their experiences.

Israel has the worst case of bloated government that I have ever seen, read this: By 2006, with Arab births a quarter of all births in Israel, it was clear that the government had to turn its attention to the pressing issue of Arab poverty. The government funded training programs, improved educational support, subsidized employment, expanded transportation networks and built industrial parks near Arab towns. One focus was on bringing more Arab women into the workforce: the employment rate among Arab Israeli women ages 25-54, according to research from the Taub Center, has risen from 21% in the early 2000s to 35% in 2016. Why would Israel expend such vast resources on advancing the Arab population? Remember: the Arabs haven't given up on their dream of conquering Israel. This is happening because the taxes in Israel are much too high, and there are too many females involved in government. The Arabs don't need any help. And it's not the job of the Israeli government to set any targets, or to spend any money on the Arabs. Israel needs to cut the tax-rate, reduce the government payroll by fifty percent, and stop funding social programs. |
