We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
It is interesting that NYC attracts defenders no matter what happens. Is it just because the metro area is large, there are that many more people who have nostalgic memories about the place? Something similar happened with the baseball Hall of Fame and sportswriting in general. The New York writers were so enraptured with what they saw there that the players from St Louis or Pittsburgh didn't get their due attention. (See Williams and Musial lifetime vs DiMaggio, for example).
The rest of us don't wish you any harm, but fail to se why New York (!!!) is that much more important. I've been there. It's okay.

I've been terribly alone and forgotten in Manhattan...

You're not from Texas,
Texas loves you, anyway!
When they say NYC they mean Manhattan, the area that has fallen from from the rich peoples utopia to a burned, boarded up, weekly BLM march. Least we forget the play ground of an ever increasing drug addicted class. Large parts of Queens & the Bronx are like third world countries were English is not spoken.
In the BAD early 70's, I lived in Manhattan, 23rd st. It was heaven compared to today. Most things come back, but in what form. The huge land fills on Staten Island are now grass covered and nature parks, they how ever are still toxic and leaching poison.
NYC is fun in the same way that theme parks are fun: For a short time, and at great expense. Then the aggravation starts to outweigh.
I'm happy for New York Cityfolk to have their Center-of-the-Universe mystique, as long as it stays there.
My hope is that is survives and rallies soon. It is the only thing that will stop self righteous left wing Northeastern trash from continuing coming to Florida and working hard to ruin this state too......
To think they almost got their gay drug addicted black guy into the governors house.
I am beginning to consider Wyoming or Idaho as a last resort escape from the Demofascist elite.
