We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Sailed the Baltic with a Nato crew courtesy of the British out of Kiel back in the early 90's . A nice Mason, a bit shorter but a beaut. Stocked with good food and brew. Visited many small ports in Sweden and Denmark.
God Bless to all involved.
This fellow has a channel, Sailing Zingaro, and has educational videos on using dynema for rigging. Excellent.

Pretty boat, no doubt can handle the Big Blue, but that boat is far and away too out of my price range... Lots of gold plated doo-dads that are not part of sailing. But then I was an oak-bucket sailor for, oh, I don't know, my first 20 years on the water (including a fair amount of Atlantic blue and gray)...
Gotta say that I'll never go back to sideways sailing after owning a cat, no matter how 'romantic'. Much easier on these ageing knees! Here's some fun to watch and defines exactly what I mean:

I'm more a Wandering Liveaboard these days - aquamarine water and white sand are more attractive than storms at sea.
Most blue water boats never leave the dock, as they are grounded on the beer bottles of dreams... Snort.
Thank you for the blessing, and you may use that quote and claim it as your own! (You will anyway, eh? ;-}).
I've seen so many dreams drift away on folks, but still, they did have those dreams and it provided immense joy to them. Some act on them, most never get close, because, at the end of the day, they really aren't sure they have it in them to face 12' seas. (Believe me, I've had second thoughts in some conditions!)
I've seen some weather, for sure, back in the day when you could not 'call out for help', but my husband, now, he has seen some real weather only a few will ever experience. He was on a science vessel for a couple of years in the South Atlantic. Went around the cape 12 times... Lots of stories, and I doubt none of them, as there are pictures too!!
Thanx Capt. Jan for the reply. I sailed out of Punta Aureta down to Antarctica in the the early 2000's. Yeah heavy sailing down there. Thanx for letting me borrow the quote.
