Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

HR 1; Communism "for the people".
That isn't just hyperbole. The Democrat party has been taken over by communist. More proof:
https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2021/03/06/flashback-diana-west-outlines-communist-ideology-inside-americas-intelligence-agencies/ A good rule of thumb is to treat the description of every bill at the federal level as fundamentally inaccurate, often opposite. So "For the People" might mean "For the special interests," or "For the Blue States," or even "Against the people," but the last thing it's going to be is For "The People."

#3: The Left has taught us to despise, detest, and totally distrust everything they say and do.
"Equity": WE get nuthin'; THEY get EVERYTHING. Boston: Dumbing down the smart, inch by inch... Cuomo: Proving how stupid the New Yorkers are... Ain't it funny how the idea of equity never comes up in discussion about capital punishment? I mean look, the victim is dead and the perpetrator isn't. Wouldn't a swift execution restore some equity?
Interesting thought. I wouldn't stop mentioning it from time to time. It does show the weakness of the whole idea of equal outcomes. Outcomes will never be equal, no matter what we do, so fairness should be preferrred
Tree of heaven is a hellish invasive species. Could a fungus save the day?
https://www.nationalgeographic.com/animals/environment/article/tree-of-heaven-invasive-species-could-fungus-save-the-day I had never heard of The Tree of Heaven. Re: Boston Public Schools
At issue with the public school system is the question of who will pay for pensions which were never authorized by the taxpayer. Union leaders have negotiated outlandishly generous pay and benefits, those leaders have knowingly allowed those benefits to go grossly underfunded. https://www.the-red-line.com/2021/01/19/almost-infamous-to-public-sector-union-leaders But the Union never negotiated for pensions. There was no public debate, a Bill was never sent through Congress, and people weren't given a chance to vote. So what's the name of the guy in Washington D.C. whose name is on this contract? When was it written? Who approved it? The Union says that it was written by invisible men, at a mystical time. But they claim its valid. To which I reply: Union pensions are not valid. A few government lawyers can't promise a pension to anyone. "There are only three ways to avoid the financial crisis: (1) massive tax increases and/or service cuts (2) significant cuts in state employee benefits and/or (3) a federal bailout.” This statement is propaganda. The author is trying to scare people into thinking that not paying union pensions would be a "crisis" Oh my God! So paying unapproved pensions wouldn't be stealing from the taxpayer, it would be a morally justified "bailout". Who can argue with that? Well, I can. Union Pensions were never approved, and the government isn't authorized to pay them. Or to steal payroll tax money in order to do so. Payroll taxes in America need to go down by fifty percent. Marjorie Taylor Greene is going to be a pain in the ass to Rinos too.

https://thepostmillennial.com/nyt-columnist-pepe-le-pew-added-to-rape-culture Yes, I learned all my moral lessons from cartoons. I just couldn't resist those animated heroes. I ate my spinach and beat up sailors; I spent my fortune purchasing technology to catch roadrunners; I stole blueberry pies. Curse them! Curse them, all of them! I was a decent human being until I watched cartoons.
I wondered about a year ago when that was finally going to happen. How pathetic do you have to be to devote your life to cancelling imaginary things?
From a Facebook meme featuring that Mr Potato Head character:
"No matter how bad your life is... There are people out there worried about the gender of a plastic potato." These are all illustrations of the most galling thing about the Cancel Culture: These people are idiots who are incapable of nuanced thought. Pepe Le Pew is a blockhead, focused on his own self-gratification, oblivious to the facts in evidence around him. It's a cat, not a skunk - Pepe is his own condemning symbol of a type of creature that richly deserves to be shunned, so extreme that he's an absurdity. Even as a child I understood this.
And yet here they are, our Moral and Intellectual Superiors - and all they see is something that must be harnessed in a crusade against transgressive sin, apparently clueless that this is already a condemnation of precisely that. It is the opposite of creativity; it is the intellectual vacuum. I'm not much of an Ayn Rand fan but I'm starting to think she had access to a time machine. I think there are two Pepe LePew cartoons where the object of his affections suddenly does a 180 and becomes the aggressive lover.
Pepe's response? He runs away as his former target chases him. That's hardly the reaction of a rapist. Aggie has an interesting observation: . . . Cancel Culture: These people are idiots who are incapable of nuanced thought. Pepe Le Pew is a blockhead, focused on his own self-gratification, oblivious to the facts in evidence around him. That makes Pepe sound very much like the people in the cancel culture. If they didn't share Pepe's lack of self-awareness they might notice their similarities with the character. Perhaps they don't notice because Pepe is happy and good natured. Pepe obviously means no harm to anyone, quite unlike his critics. I always saw him as a subtle parody of Maurice Chevalier. Another Warner Brothers character, Speedy Gonzales (the most popular WB character among Hispanics) was banned from television 15 or 20 years ago because he might be offensive to Mexicans. I don't know if he can still be seen on youtube or not.

Covid links
https://drmalcolmkendrick.org/2021/03/06/believing-in-impossible-things-and-covid19/ https://imprimis.hillsdale.edu/science-politics-covid-will-truth-prevail/ https://www.aier.org/article/the-cdcs-mask-mandate-study-debunked/ The Democrats stole the election. They lied about it, we know they stole it and lied to us. They know they stole and continue to lie to us. Now they are passing "voter rights" legislation and EO's which in reality are legalized election fraud laws and they are laughing at us, poking us in the eye with this ironically labeled legislation is if to say "what are you going to do about it?" I think that they want a confrontation, a rebellion, even peaceful demonstration which they will then demonize. They are stealing your country right before your eyes, bringing in millions of replacement voters and workers to destroy the middle class. What ARE you going to do about it???
We never fixed the problems that caused the 2008 recession. We instead put into place "expensive" temporary fixes. These very "fixes" have worsened our position by increasing the national debt, stopping a constitutional budgetary process in congress and semi-permanently enacting emergency fiscal polices to stem the crash. I mean, did you ever in your life expect to see 2% home loans for year after year and 0% interest rates on savings??? Experts warned against these decisions but politicians were more concerned with being reelected and the correct policies would have required a few years of tough times. So here we are: Interest rates can't go any lower, small businesses are going bankrupt at depression levels, unemployment is high. The government is subsidizing almost everything and everyone and using fake money to do it. Inflation is rearing it's ugly head, and make no mistake uncontrolled inflation may be our most serious fiscal problem that we face. Our president is at best an idiot and our vice president has only accomplished anything in life thanks to her gender and not her intelligence, at best she is a complete unknown and may in fact be a real life puppet controlled by god know who.
At this point there is probably no way to avoid an economic collapse, it's just a matter of time and the trigger event. In spite of this our government seems singularly focused on doing all the wrong things for political reasons and I doubt that there is anyone in the federal government today who even knows what the right things are. It's coming folks. Yes I know I am a nameless internet commenter who has zero creds and zero proof. Go to https://fred.stlouisfed.org/ and peruse their charts. You don't have to be a PHD in economics to see that something is going on that is not normal. Some of those charts show that it hasn't been normal since 2008 and others will show it hasn't been normal since 1976 and one or two will show a bad trend since 1963. But all show it getting worse and no one in a position of authority or in the MSM is talking about this. Why wouldn't they be talking about it? There is a reason that makes sense: It is going to collapse, you cannot sound the alarm because it would cause panic and create the collapse. So those in the know are simply trying to ride this down, make as much profit as they can and position themselves as best they can when it all hits the fan. For the other 300 + million of us it will all come as a surprise when our country collapses. In some ways it will be like the Texas power grid going down; no one is prepared, it will be a disaster when it happens but it will last a lot longer than a week or so. There's a storm coming, get ready... THere is no way to prepare for Zimbabwe type scenario . Maybe go to subsistence farming. That’s gonna be impossible for most folk. I have been trying to grow food for years. Your have to grow it , and store it and protect it. We are doomed.
The common prepper theory is that you don't have to store enough food and necessities to live for years, but just enough to live through the initial die-off. Kind of crude but probably correct for other reasons as well. The bottom line is you must get past/live past the initial crisis and then deal with getting through the long crisis. If you fail that first step for whatever reason it matters little what your long term plans were.
