We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

The white male is the "nigga" of the 21st century. It is OK and even "woke" to discriminate against him. The ironic thing is how easily and quickly the blacks embraced the new racial discrimination.

The press and the left (but I repeat myself) are happy about these women accusing Cuomo of harassment. It takes the focus off the real issue: killing geezers in nursing homes. This protects not only him but Witmer, Wolf, Murphy, et al. All of those governors should at least be changed with manslaughter (or is it “personslaughter” now?).

Not to mention, the Media's own culpability. A large part of the reason Governors pushed the sick into nursing homes is because they were worried about the hospitals being overwhelmed. Now, why were the Governors worried about that? Because academia created and the media pushed models that predicted about ~10x too many deaths.

The fact that Cuomo had a hospital ship and two (or was it three?) field hospitals available to him makes that even worse.

It seems that whenever anybody listens to those dopes, bad things happen. In Texas, they listened to the Global Warmists who said it would never get that cold in Texas again so why bother winterizing energy infrastructure?

Trump had the Navy's hospital ship outfitted and sent to NYC; in the end only a dozen or so patients were transferred there (temporarily at that).
There was also a field hospital set up in Central Park, and 1000 beds set up at the Javits Convention Center.
Cuomo also thought he needed 30,000 - 40,000 mechanical ventilators, when there was only a need for about 4,000.
Cuomo also famously said he would not send his mother to a nursing home ever.

Now that Biden is elected Cuomo is expendable. Mudbug may be right that they can subtly massage this into an advantage. Distract from other issues, get to look like you really are tough on sexual harassment, put everyone back to sleep.

It's a shame that Cuomo, who operated flawlessly in setting the gold standard for handling the coronavirus (he did win an Emmy for his performance, after all), is being laid low by a minor personal peccadillo. I suspect domestic terrorists are behind this smear campaign - the FBI should definitely investigate this possibility.

"Breastfeeding" -- IIRC, the instances in which a genetic XY can produce enough milk to nourish a neonate are vanishingly few. When lactation happens, the milk comes from mammary glands, so the neologism "chestfeeding" [ugh] is idiocy.

Re Cuomo

I am a bit mystified by the entire Cuomo scandal.

If you can keep a lid on the nursing home deaths until after Trump is gone, why wasn't this lid kept screwed down? I would think any federal investigation could be called off from the top, yes?

Given the timing, it does look like the sexual harassment claims were given a green light to come forward, creating a smoke screen for the nursing home scandal. However, if they could "get" Cuomo on the nursing home deaths, why inject the harassment accusations? The problem with those is that they could take on a life of their own and affect Cuomo's associates.

So the heat has been turned way up on Cuomo, but why? And to what end?

I still see no indictments and he hasn't resigned, and I don't expect to. I fully expect Cuomo to continue feeding at the taxpayer trough when this is all over.

Has the entire drama been unleashed by a rival solely to kneecap his rise in Democratic politics?

I would really like to know who is calling the shots on this and their strategy for the end game.

In 1956 in the 8th grade I was lucky to have the two most beautiful girls in our school sitting beside and in front of me in algebra. They quickly learned that I knew the answers and they were nice to me so I would help them pass the class. One of those girls got pregnant and was required to leave school. (times were different then) I never saw her in school again although I did see her sometimes outside of school with her child. Luckily I was often in the same class as the other beautiful girl and she was always needing help with school work.

The Democrats are angry and mentally unstable over the Texas governor's decision to rescind mask and distance regulations over Covid. Why? Does anyone really think this is about Covid or people becoming ill with Covid? If it were they would be just as outraged over the illegal aliens with covid being released into the country, but they are not. I'm thinking this is concern that the power that masks and lockdowns give them is being lost. Texas and Mississippi are first but you know other states will follow. People may even demand that schools open.
