Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Xi will be so excited: buy an American president, get a nuclear fleet for free.
To think it is only five years ago that the most powerful weapon of the USA was "open and fair elections followed by an orderly transition of power". Perhaps they will award John Kerry a Nobel peace prize for his efforts in ensuring that such weapons of mass priviledge will no longer haunt Asia's dictatorships. Wow! Chase down the links and take a peek at the workbook for undoing racism in mathematics. Predictably, there are no maths there. It's like "maybe these folks aren't very good a math, huh?"
Re: transgender mania
There are recognized emotional disorders where people want to cut off appendages such as an arm or leg, just as there is a disorder for people who are either confused or unsatisfied with their gender. Now in a sexual free for all that some are trying to make our culture into, people have latched on to sexual mutilation as a protected condition but curiously, they haven’t latched on to the other mutilations. I guess we just need give them time before realize the injustice they are creating. There is a feeling of schadenfreude of the leftist dilemma over trans-women in women's sports. Most women's sports were kind of 'invented' decades ago by the left because they resented male sports and whatever perceived advantage that gave to men. Women's sports is kind of sacred for that reason even though most people have never watch any or gone to any of their games. Since then "trans' have become sacred to the left because of the raising up of homosexuality and anything related to it. But now there is an inevitable clash of trans into women's sports and the left is like a deer in the headlights. They don't know if they should shit or go blind. Their knee jerk reaction is to call anyone who opposes either side of the argument sexist or homophobe but they can't because they would be pointing to themselves. They have been hoisted by their own petard.
And yet, president * issued an executive order saying that any educational institution that gets federal money must allow men who want to be/wish they were/think they are women to compete with against real women in sports.
Dr Oliver Sacks wrote a book The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat about people with unusual neurological disorders.
One chapter is "The Man Who Fell out of Bed", about a young man whom Dr. Sacks encounters on the floor of his hospital room, where he tells Sacks that he woke up to find an alien leg in his bed. Assuming that one of the nurses had played a prank on him, he attempted to toss the leg out of bed, only to find that he was attached to it. Although Sacks attempts to persuade the patient that the leg is his own, he remains bewildered in an apparent case of somatoparaphrenia. I am convinced that many transgender people suffer from a similar disorder; that the treatment by surgery and hormones is medical malpractice, which does nothing to treat the underlying neurological condition. Most of this psychopathy is induced by social media. Tumblr, especially, as teens and preteens don't have the ability to discern subtle coercive manipulation. I've read some of it. some of it "not so subtle".
it preys upon the hormonal dramaticism of teenagers and single mothers who end up having munchausen by proxy syndrome focused on their kids. But you would think our adult leaders could see this too! I do believe that trans and gay is a mental disorder and not normal. But I have to assume that readily accepting trans as normal is a little suspect too. People who advocate for trans operations, especially in youths, should not serve in public office. There is something wrong with them.
PLEASE stop posting recipes from the NYTimes. I WILL NEVER subscribe to that paper! Can't you copy and paste the recipe in the comments section? The recipe won't open unless I pay the NYT to continue the fraud it has become--maybe not in the cooking section, but surely at it's heart!
So within a month of taking office Saint Biden has singlehandedly managed to rebuild the Ohio from an SSBN to a cruise missile carrier, AND fielded her on her first operational patrol.
The man is beyond human in his abilities, he must be God incarnate. How wrong we were supporting the imposter Trump all these years! I've seen the light! The hard core Antifa and BLM insurrection/rioters are simply anarchists who have found a home. The casual Antifa and BLM insurrectionists/rioters are simply angry leftists and Karen's who enjoy being assholes to their fellow countrymen. But there is a solid communist/socialist driving force behind these two groups whose goal it is to destroy and then remake America into Venezuela.
It isn't about fighting fascism and never was. It isn't about black lives or making black lives better and never was. It is fascism and racism and always was. Do you find it strange that the FBI puts spies in a group of 7 anti-Whitmer nut jobs and the leader of the Proud Boys was an FBI informer but yet the FBI does nothing, zip, Nada to infiltrate or stop the real threats; Antifa and BLM??? The left will tolerate Antifa and BLM as long as it serves their purposes which is to exacerbate divisions and disrupt civil society. If the left were to actually succeed in their dreams of domination, expect them to jettison them like Hitler did the Brown Shirts.
Not only doesn't Ohio know what Russian dressing is, their sloppy joe is some sort of bbq chopped meat and not the delicious ham, swiss, coleslaw and russian dressing triple decker sandwich.
Speaking of sandwiches, the Democrats brought a beautiful ham-and-cheese sandwich to their Bill of Attainder trial.
Now if they only had some ham. And some cheese. And some bread. Bill Gates: America’s Top Farmland Owner
https://landreport.com/2021/01/bill-gates-americas-top-farmland-owner/ It's people like Bill Gates that makes me reconsider B.O.'s admonition that at a certain point, a person has enough money.
The problem is that they are able to escape taxes by creating "charity" tax dodges. We should end the charity deduction. Or we could modify it, perhaps limit an individual or family to $10k a year and not allow it at all for any non-personal tax filing. IMHO the "charities" that the rich set up are simply money laundering operations which other tax payers are forced to fund 40% of.
It makes me uneasy to see people like Gates and Ted Turner by up chunks of land like this.
While it is not a big percentage in the grand scheme of things, one can imagine this land being locked up and held by one family for hundreds of years, the way the noblesse own the land in the UK. This is the antithesis of the Jeffersonian image of a nation of small farmers. It worries me that more of the rich will buy up huge tracts of farmland. Farmland is already priced out of the reach of most people. One hates to see it being driven even higher. |
