Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Do you believe what you read or hear?

Scott explains why we distrust news, despite its being our main formation source.


He feels our republic is gone, due to news/propaganda. Despite being a Leftie, Scott explains how much he "hates f-ing Biden. This doddering old fool called me a Nazi."

Adams repeatedly describes himself as "left of Bernie," but listening to him a while reveals that to be mostly nonsense.

He's essentially a garden-variety libertarian, with a bit of traditionalist conservative thrown in: anti-drug laws, anti-taxation, anarchist on abortion, and apart from bitter opposition to teacher's unions, seems generally willing to let things alone -- e.g., not push for abolition of government control of schools, and shrugging about election fraud instead of pushing back.

Agreed--if he thinks he's a leftie, he impeaches all his own reasoning. Sure, he often sounds sensible, but does he have any principles or logic, or is he guided by pure instinct, and the need to have attention lavished on himself?

The news media has lied to us by either slanting news or ignoring news. Then they tell us what conclusions we should draw from their reporting. Every year it gets worse, as hard as that is to imagine. In large measure, one’s ability to think critically can be measured by how little he is dependent on the news media for his information.

There’s a lot more that can be said about this situation and our culture but it’s almost too depressing to contemplate.

At this point there are only three kinds of adult Americans:
1. Those who know the election was stolen by massive fraud.
2. Those who are ignorant.
3. Those who are dishonest and continue to deny the fraud.

There is no other excuse/category. If you have been paying attention you not only know that there was massive fraud but you also know that they merely intended enough fraud to win but Trump was winning in such a huge landslide that they had to go to plan 'B' which was massive and difficult to hide. If this election is allowed to stand then indeed our republic is gone.

I began to distrust the media and our local newspaper years ago. While traveling for my business I would listen to the radio. I could usually get NPR stations so I would listen some. When they outright started lying about Bill Clinton I quit listening to them and began taking bags of books on tape from my local library with me on my long driving trips. I did listen to the Clarence Thomas hearings and heard the entire thing. To hear Kennedy and Biden plus other excoriate Thomas was maddening. That that bastard Biden may have reign over this country is insane.
