Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

"I don’t really care what people tell me, because I've talked to my friends and my family members. They don't have a good answer as to why they're supporting Donald Trump. They really don't. They — they just sort of mumble around and say, “Oh, you know, I don't like him. I hate him. He's a horrible human being, but you know, he's our guy.” People who support the President are in an uncomfortable position. They believe that President Trump will restore order the economy, and also increase America's industrial output. But the "woke" crowd believes that wealth is always the result of exploitation. So creating wealth doesn't matter, because wealth transfer is how to get rich. Those BLM reparations are going to be the biggest wealth transfer in history, if blacks get their way. So blacks and women must always be portrayed as "innocent victims". The victim hustle has been going-on since World War Two. Auschwitz was the perfect victim factory. But President Trump doesn't pander to oppression politics. He wants blacks to find a job, just like everyone. To blacks, that makes the President a very bad person. Work? You must be kidding. "Auschwitz was the perfect victim factory."?
You want to explain yourself? I for one find it hard to believe that Joe spoke with an actual Trump supporter. Trump supporters all have at least one thing in common: They love America. The common refrain in 2016 was, build the damn wall. Followed closely by, quit outsourcing our wealth. Both statements fall under the declaration of America First. I would say that 99% of all Trump supporters can fully articulate why they voted for him. Biden supporters however are a different story.
Yes, to me that quote from a "Trump supporter" reads very wrong. Too many caveats about Trump for it to be a genuine quote.
My takeaway on this is the Wokesters genuinely don't understand why Trump supporters love America and want it to be first. THAT is the fault of the education system, from K onward. Republicans: coastal elites vrs Working America??
Who, in the Republican hierarchy with national recognition, supports a fair deal for Wage Earning America and Main Street or would even welcome them at the adult table? Trump hijacked the party much to their chagrin. In hind sight, it was his only choice, given the shenanigans the establishment gets up to in order to circumvent the emergence of an independent party, per Robert Barnes. The total U.S. death rate is actually down somewhat from past years. This is certainly confounding. There is no doubt that Covid has been hyped for political purposes. As one famous twit said "covid is a gift to the Democrats". In some ways it is like global warming, that is using a crisis to push an agenda that may have nothing at all to do with the crisis.
Perhaps in the end this is a test or a trial run. Will you and all other Americans resist the tyranny that our governors and mayors are foisting on us or will you submit? Listened to a podcast of Megan Kelly on Triggernometry. She mentioned that working Americans are decried for wanting jobs because the Environment! She didn't take it to the next step.
The reduction of pollution in America is slight of hand, the pollution was just shipped off shore to China where it is less constrained and more damaging, along with fair labor practices. The end users of these consumer products are still in the West. I'd guess it's a net negative for environmental damage. It is even worse than that. A single container ship uses more fossil fuel every year than 50,000,000 cars do in a year. Just the fossil fuel use from China shipping to the U.S. alone exceeds all fossil fuel use within the U.S.
The first thing we should do to cut carbon emission is ban all ships. One ship consumes more fuel than Fifty Million cars? I think I would like to know the source of this factoid - I highly doubt that is it accurate, but am happy to be corrected.
Sorry, but the screed about shipping is just wrong.
It's pretty difficult to get easily-explainable numbers comparing freight modes, because freight is priced differently depending on both what is being shipped and how it is being shipped. But for domestic shipping:
What's that? Cost isn't the same as pollution, you say? OK, in that case (in terms of tons of emissions per million ton-miles of freight moved):
Please note that barges are not anywhere near as efficient as ocean-going container ships, which are pretty much universally acknowledged to be the most energy-efficient means of freight transport available, by far. An example that came up once during a discussion about "locavores": It takes less fuel to ship one ton of carrots 1000 miles by rail than it does to drive to a farm 15 miles from your home and buy your carrots directly from the farmer. Review of today's selected links:
1. A fake gibberish paper is accepted and published by supposedly peer-reviewed professional journal. 2. A real scientific paper describing interesting counterpoint data to pandemic mortality numbers is self-censored after attack-questioning by un-credentialed journalists. 3. Prominent media figures announce that over half the US population should not be tolerated, understood, or interacted with, because they support the President. Reviewing these and other stories should naturally raise the question why anybody - anybody - would pay any attention whatsoever to people purveying these products as anything other than a distraction from real things. On the other hand, in the real world, a Presidential election is being plundered in real time on multiple fronts, with Democrats in the basement shoveling fake votes by the bushel while Republicans stand by with their arms folded, refusing to assert their right to participate, and judges pretend to not understand what a "basement" is. Which of these is 'news' deserving of your attention? Which of these is a 'real thing'? Watching "Outnumbered" on FOX this morning as I usually do. The five members are quite subdued and even those who normally acknowledge what is true are denying there is any "real" evidence that the election was stolen. Their facial expressions and body language tell me that they don't like what they are saying. It appears to me that they have been read the riot act and it is get in line or look for another gig. There is no real evidence and the right has to accept that Biden won fair and square and can't we all get along.
I don't understand that except as pure duplicity and dishonesty. The election was stolen. The evidence is overwhelming. Wouldn't you, anyone as an American want to know what happened and punish the wrong doers? How do we now all accept the big lie to cover up the biggest crime in American history? In PA they found that 1.5 million more absentee ballots were counted than were sent out. How does that happen? Someone had to print up 1.5 million fake ballots on very short notice wouldn't you think that an employee of the print shop might blow the whistle? Estimates now are that Biden got about 10 million fake votes. Between the machines giving him Trump votes, the fake mail in ballots and officials at the county level cheating some 10 million votes were manufactured out of thin air. It appears that in some states there was substantial down ballot fraud as well. Will this ever be investigated? Will anyone ever go to jail? Oh, yeah! Have they found John Durham's body yet?
The printing industry moved to China a few decades ago -- catalogs to weekly newspapers to newsletters to greeting cards to large runs of just about anything. How convenient.
As for the approximate 9,200 deaths the Johns Hopkins staffer attributed to CoV-19 alone, the US. has about 300,000 annual deaths from medical or medication errors. Should we shut down the economy over this latter problem? re "The multimillionaire former CEO of online shoe store Zappos died on Friday, nine days after he was dragged unconscious by firefighters from a blazing Connecticut house..."
Okay. He was an eccentric and a self made man. re his demise. It's called life. Stuff happens. Why is his death so much more special than anybody else? A few of us commented on that observation (it was not a study) reported in the Johns Hopkins student newspaper (based on a professor talking at a webinar) and its retraction in the post by Dr. Bliss above.
