Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Retraction of a major study published last year which initially claimed hormones in surgery psychologically transgender people. After seven (!) different teams of researchers wrote into the journal with concerns about the methodology and statistical analysis in the article, the others did a reanalysis and found no benefit.
https://www.thepublicdiscourse.com/2020/09/71296/ It is obvious that all of those who claim to be transgender and/or seek treatment to change their gender are mentally ill. I would also say that for the medical community to accommodate this mental illness by transgendering them is malpractice. And for politicians and the elite to censor or punish anyone who speaks up against this is tyranny.
No matter how much cosmetic surgery is performed, a guy is still a guy and a gal is still a gal. It is all in the genes: XY and XX.
Re: John Cleese on JKRowling canceling, Ayn Rand said it best.
“The uncontested absurdities of today are the accepted slogans of tomorrow. They come to be accepted by degrees, by precedent, by implication, by erosion, by default, by dint of constant pressure on one side and constant retreat on the other - until the day when they are suddenly declared to be the country's official ideology.” ~ Ayn Rand You should have called your title -
Call it stormy Monday, or Manic Monday, or I don't like Mondays John Cleese: “If you can’t control your own emotions, you’re forced to control other people’s behaviour,” the actor explained. “That’s why the touchiest, most oversensitive and easily upset must not set the standard for the rest of us.”
Perfect summation. I’m stealing it. Mysterious Booms Have Plagued One Connecticut Town for Months
https://mysteriousuniverse.org/2020/11/mysterious-booms-have-plagued-one-connecticut-town-for-months/ I suspect the booms will end soon, as a few weeks ago a fellow was arrested in a nearby Massachusetts town for manufacturing "M-Class" explosive devices, and comments on news articles about it indicate he was selling them in Waterbury
5 More Ways Joe Biden Magically Outperformed Election Norms
QUOTE: 1) no incumbent president in nearly a century and a half has gained votes in a re-election campaign and still lost. 2) Winning Despite Losing Most Bellwether Counties Biden is set to become the first president in 60 years to lose the states of Ohio and Florida on his way to election. Even more unbelievably, Biden is on his way to winning the White House after having lost almost every historic bellwether county across the country. The Wall Street Journal and The Epoch Times independently analyzed the results of 19 counties around the United States that have nearly perfect presidential voting records over the last 40 years. President Trump won every single bellwether county, except Clallam County in Washington. 3) “Biden underperformed Hillary Clinton in every major metro area around the country, save for Milwaukee, Detroit, Atlanta and Philadelphia.” 4) Biden Won Despite Democrat Losses Everywhere Else 5) Biden Overcame Trump’s Commanding Primary Vote no incumbent who has received 75 percent of the total primary vote has lost re-election. Second, President Trump received 94 percent of the primary vote, which is the fourth highest of all time Joe Biden achieved the impossible. It’s interesting that many more journalists aren’t pointing that out. https://thefederalist.com/2020/11/23/5-more-ways-joe-biden-magically-outperformed-election-norms/ More on the election problems in Georgia.

Nope, nope, nope .. not even close. This meme needs to die. First off, Biden UNDERPERFORMED Hillary in Philadelphia https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/11/07/us/elections/pennsylvania-counties-battleground-state.html Though Philadelphia County, a Democratic stronghold, voted overwhelmingly for Mr. Biden, it swung toward Mr. Trump by more than 4 percentage points, compared with 2016. Over all, Mr. Trump fared better in Philadelphia than he did in 2016, probably the result of further shifts to the right among white voters, but also shifts in his favor in neighborhoods where Hispanic people make up a majority of the population. Another possible factor: While Mr. Trump beat his 2016 vote totals, Mr. Biden appeared to garner fewer overall votes in Philadelphia than Mrs. Clinton did in 2016. With almost 11,000 mail ballots left to count Tuesday afternoon, Mr. Biden had received about 14,000 fewer votes than Mrs. Clinton’s final tally in the city of 584,025. Secondly, he outperformed Hillary in numerous locations across the country https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/no-joe-biden-did-not-only-improve-in-four-major-swing-state-cities/ Biden improved his margin of victory compared to Hillary in 31 out of 36 urban counties — and Philadelphia was one of the five in which he didn’t (ed-the others were Chicago, Cleveland, El Paso, and Miami). In 29 of the cities, the Democratic margin of victory grew on a percentage basis. Of the twelve cities in which Biden overperformed Hillary by enough that his margin of victory grew by 10 percent or more (as a percentage of the 2016 electorate), only one (Atlanta) was in a swing state, and one other (Omaha) in a swing district. Biden’s improvements in Milwaukee and Detroit were distinctly subpar, and in Detroit, Trump improved his own share of the vote enough to be the first Republican to break 30 percent of the vote in Wayne County, Mich., in 32 years. Yes, Biden had some really striking “metro area” improvements over Hillary in key states, but other than Atlanta, many of those came either in the surrounding suburbs (the election was really won in the suburbs, most of all around Philadelphia) or in counties such as Maricopa County, Ariz., (which contains both Phoenix and Mesa and was won by Trump four years ago) and Douglas County, Neb.,(which contains Omaha and swung one electoral vote). But those are not counties run by infamously corrupt Democratic local parties, and “voter fraud in the suburbs” is neither as sexy nor as plausible as fraud by the kinds of urban machines that gave us 100,000 fraudulent votes in Chicago in the 1982 Illinois governor’s race. Biden turned out tons of additional votes in Austin, Denver, San Antonio, Albuquerque, Portland, and Nashville, too, but none of those mattered to the outcome. I'm with Cleese. Have been since Python, Monty, Ltd.
Harvard students want schools to hold Trump officials "accountable" For what? For harshing their "mellow, of course. Seattle: The CRAZY is STRONG in thise ones. This ‘soak the rich’ tax would destroy economies of New York and New Jersey...encouraging the rich to GET OUT while the GETTING is GOOD. NY Times Comes Out To Defend Black Man Who Raped, Murdered And Buried A Girl Alive… Ypu ccan see why I say that I DESPISE, DETEST, and totally DISTRUST the NYT. (The WaPoo, too.) Six months after George Floyd's death, Minneapolis reeling from rise in violence: Minnesota Nice is now Minnesota Stupid. Swarthmore College tuition is close to $60,000 per annum. That's it, kids - go on strike, refuse to engage the services you pay for. Stand up for your rights! Refuse to comply! Stake out your brave new Territory Ahead!
What admirably-constructed logic. How sensible. How principled. How mature and adult. How...employable. Well of course it makes sense that Biden would get more votes than both Obama and Hillary - Democrats are racist and sexist and prefer to vote for a white man. (Am I doing this right?)
All the craziness we are supposed to believe as totally normal and that we have to accept it were included in my university class as subjects in the class "Psychology Of Deviant Behavior". I haven't changed my mind about those things just because a bunch of leftists deviants themselves insist I must. Screw them!
Regarding the third covid Vaccine finishing the trials do not forget this is because Trump fast tracked this, put up front money and showed real leadership at the very same time that Gov Cuomo was killing old folks in nursing homes.
A few days ago Dr. John Campbell, who really is the primary reliable source on what is going on with Covid, did a YouTube video about the vaccine status and pretty much said the progress was remarkable and faster than had ever happened historically with the development of a vaccine. He specifically commented it happened primarily because of all the funding the U.S. had pumped into the effort and the commitments it had made to buy the vaccines once they were produced. He never mentioned the name Trump, but obviously that was going through my head as he was saying this.
It's well worth watching Dr. Campbell's videos on his channel, they can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCF9IOB2TExg3QIBupFtBDxg He is a retired British professor of nursing and quite knowledgeable on infectious diseases and treatments. A voice of sanity in all this, people have commented he should get knighted for his efforts once this is all over. Most of his Covid videos can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/c/Campbellteaching/videos He makes new videos quite frequently, pretty much on a daily basis. He's basically like your reassuring uncle, giving you the straight dope on what is happening in a calm and knowledgeable manner. Anyway, he thinks we are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, and with multiple vaccines coming out we may end up with people being vaccinated more quickly than we now expect. We mainly have to get through the present spike during the holidays, and then things should start to turn around in the early months of next year. The main concern was the mink mutation in Denmark as perhaps initiating a new strain of the virus which would not be receptive to vaccines, but that seems to have fallen out of the news the past few days. |
