Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

I watched the video of the Biden campaign bus and the drivers around it. There was nothing I didn't experience driving a rental sedan from Austin to San Antonio in January. Except that I experienced it on a dark, rainy night. That's just how they drive. Side note - a F-150 sized pickup is the minimum sized vehicle for long term survival with Texas drivers.
Are New Yorkers becoming unhinged over an election?
Based on my experience, some are. @Gringo, New Yorkers like to keep their 'unhinged' within easy reach in case they need to roll it out, in my experience.
I've watched a few of the I-35 Biden Bus incident videos - there are quite a few - and all of them show both the bus and its chase vehicle (the white crossover SUV) weaving in and across lanes trying to brush back other vehicles, not all of them Trump Train cars. The fender-bender occurred when the SUV tried to intimidate a flag-waving 4x4 out from behind the bus and just creamed into it - in the truck's lane. The truck's tires ate the SUV's doors, but I don't think the truck was damaged. Wife and I watched 'The Plot Against the President' last night, which is free for Amazon Prime subscribers. It's a good thumbnail sketch of recent history but there's so much more material that this seems to just skim the high points without fleshing it out. Understandable for reasons of brevity; anyway it's worth watching. Then as I was turning the TV off I noticed Trump there throwing another rally somewhere. After midnight, the guy's still going. The chyron said 'LIVE' but maybe it was from earlier in the day (wouldn't surprise me if it was live though). Here's Joe this weekend: https://nypost.com/2020/11/01/democrats-are-masking-bidens-frailty-devine/ Trump will win, comfortably I think. The discussion of rest was interesting, yet I don't think the data is that informative (even though it has decimal points and everything!). It is people's subjective impressions of what is most restful. That has some value, but I would like to see more about blood-pressures, task-focus, heart rate, and the like. Also, missing from the list are prayer, meditation, staring at fish in a tank, having a smoke or a drink, singing, reading Maggie's Farm, and many other things folks might find restful. The advice to take frequent short naps during the day is likely to screw up nighttime sleep, which over time is not going to work.
I heard years ago that "A change of work is the best relaxation" and I have quoted it occasionally. Raking leaves might be good if one is usually staring at a screen. I don't know it to be true, though. it just sounds nice. Professor: Student extracurricular activities serve racism, sexism First off, he a "Sociology" perfesser; a huge tell almost to the point of 'nuf said!"! Second, I'm betting he has biceps that are the envy of 8-yr.old girls everywhere and that he's exacting revenge for not being chosen for his undergrad's intramural hacky-sack and frisbee teams! In fairness, kids from poor families more often work vs. participate in "extracurricular activities"
...which explains why so many colleges and university admission offices focus on extracurriculars. Fair point, OC. Then again, some of us from other families worked anyway, in an effort to broaden what would later come to be referred as our respective talent stacks: after all, it was becoming apparent that the deck was being stacked against the motivated and productive.
The only extracurricular acitvity I got involved with was the intramural tug of war team: I got drafted by my dorm because I was working for a railroad at the time, and could walk away with any opposing team almost single-handedly. That had its ample rewards. Coronavirus and the Coming Election - No matter who wins, the pandemic isn’t going away anytime soon SORRY to break it to everyone, but...this was NOT a Pandemic! Barely reached the "epidemic" stage and it needed all the help the MSM could give it to get to that point! As Randy, from "South Park" exclaimed: "That's it, Stan. Covid is here. Soon only 99.98 percent of us will be left!" I don't know why people keep repeating this insensitive meme. Covid has killed 236,000+ Americans and 1,207,000+ worldwide and it is on track to double in the next 5 months with no end in sight. A semantics argument seems silly at this point.
"Insensitive meme". How about "Unsupported and poorly-reasoned straw-man-triggering claim in isolation of the economic destruction COVID policies have caused without due comparison to historical pandemic results". Fixed it for ya. Nobody is trivializing the human toll, merely noting the consequential trivialization of the collateral damage, which includes human patients who have died because they could not access otherwise routine health care for other chronic conditions - like cancer treatments, for example - or the vastly greater numbers of mental health problems due to depression and unemployment. It is past due time to balance our views and our strategies toward reason and away from terror-mongering. We know better, now.
What, you mean there's more than 1 variable? Too hard, hurts muh head.
"IF" THAT is what you mean THEN you say THAT. You don't claim there is no pandemic. YES, allow the people to choose to stay home in quarantine, don't mandate it. Allow the people to wear masks if they wish, don't mandate it. Allow the people to shop, dine, drink, enjoy company if they wish, don't restrict it. BUT DON'T try to tell me that this is no big deal. When it passes the 400,000 deaths in the U.S. will you THEN finally understand it is a big deal. It will pass 400,000 deaths and the fact that it is grandmothers and grandfathers dying does NOT make "no big deal" They are people too!!! And when it passes 500,000 dead, and it WILL, maybe you will finally understand this is a pandemic. Maybe then you will be sensitive to those who have lost family and friends! Maybe!
More straw men, eh? Do you see how it could be interpreted that you're an un-serious person who disparages others while demanding to be taken seriously by them?
COVID has touched every contributor to this page and placed serious demands, if not challenges, if not tragedy and destruction, upon their lives. Our public policy makers have not responded to the challenge of managing the crisis in a way that invites either commendation or improvement, or enthusiastic compliance. They simply propose more of the same, only worse. It is not acceptable, and it already won't stand: witness the appalling double-standards for purely political reasons as rules are applied to ordinary people and then to politically-favored protest-rioters. I'll believe it's a serious pandemic when the policy-makers start acting like they believe it, too.

Again I'll say that is your complain is that the government didn't handle it correctly then SAY THAT! DON'T tell me that it all doesn't matter because only old people are dying. IF you can't see the difference then I can't help you!

Unless you are being sarcastic, you need to examine the numbers on the chart here. It proves exactly the point others are making, that unless you are over 70 and have other respiratory problems, covid 19 probably won't kill you.
https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/vsrr/covid_weekly/index.htm?fbclid=IwAR3-wrg3tTKK5-9tOHPGAHWFVO3DfslkJ0KsDEPQpWmPbKtp6EsoVV2Qs1Q Oh! Well! That changes everything. Who gives a shit about grandma and grandpa, right? Who cares that they might have lived ten more years except for catching covid? Right? If you do not understand that expressing that is insensitive and offensive I doubt I can convince you it is.
Table 3 of the latest CDC report gives the breakdown of complications of other health problems with covid. I suspect most of these people did not have much time left in this world and what actually killed them is open . A bonus for dyeing from Covid does not improve the diagnosis accuracy. It seems medical care challenges education for interference by government power and control artists. Small wonders costs skyrocket in both sectors.
You want semantics .. people die WITH Covid - not FROM Covid.
Over 90% of the people who die have had another condition. There are so many ridiculous reports of people being in car accidents who died and reported to die FROM Covid. There are not "so many." There was one.
Conservatives used to be honest, and that was their advantage. Approximately 650,000 Americans die from various heart diseases annual without much of a comment from anybody.
The difference that heart attacks is not communicable. That simple fact changes everything.
Changes everything, HOW? Because your Aunt Tillie dies at 78 years, 3 months, instead of 78 years and 8 months? WHOA!
Are the immortals among us now catching this "horrendous" cold bug at dawn and dying by Noon? NO! It's old people and sick people dying, as is to be expected! We are all going to DIE! None of us from robust good health, unless our robustness causes us to jump out of planes with parachutes that don't work!

Again; just being nasty because you are a nasty person is not a good look for you. YOU have no clue when aunt Tillie might die and apparently could care less if she lives or dies and that comes across loud and clear.
But the point is that it seems you are actually trying to say something different but your perverse personality takes over and you spew bile instead. Learn how to articulate your point rather than just throwing crap at the wall to see what sticks.

1.2 million is a very small fraction of the roughly seven billion that constitutes the world population. I hate to be insensitive, but death is 100% contagious and there's no imminent prospect of a vaccine.
It is no secret that Antifa and BLM supporters are left wing/Democrats. They were put out there by Democrats with the intention to disrupt and divide our nation. It gives the Democrats something to run against. Every election year the Democrats demonize the deplorables as racist/sexists so they can get the low information voters to vote for them. This tactic works and it is clear to all what the Democrats are doing. And yet you hear them accuse Trump of being devisive and they tell us that Biden will reunite America. I believe this is exactly the same technique that communists have used to take over governments and it's right out of the Alinsky Rules For Radicals .

You got that right, Sam! I'd add the governor. If you look on Worldometer and see NY state Wuhan virus cases and deaths, you have to wonder what it would take to open that state and city back up again! When someone who rigged her party's primary says one of the party's priorities should be election reform, I worry.
This is Biden's legacy:

Yale nursing students say racism is ‘rampant’ at the school
NORTHWESTERN LAW DEAN SAYS HE’S A RACIST When I read articles like these I can't help but think we are being trolled by the progressive left because to think otherwise means people actually believe this b.s. Trolls in a comment section are pretty easy to see, and to deprive them of oxygen, are best ignored. I suppose that solution wouldn't work in the fetid halls of academia, since that only makes them stronger, noisier and more obnoxious. Yale and its cohorts need to lose their positions of power. Maybe a silver lining to the draconian measures most of them have adopted to accommodate Covid will shut them down, or at least weaken them to the point of thinning their administrative ranks. American and Texas flags - Oh My!
(Driving in) Texas is not for the timid. ( : Rogan firmly planted his thumb in the eye of leftists and their comrades at Spotify by interviewing Alex Jones. It wasn't a coincidence of timing.
Harassing Team Biden's bus gave them the perfect opportunity to pull Sleepy Joe out of an appearance. But make no mistake, I fully endorse this tactic. For far too long the right has been playing by gentlemen's rules as the left has been fighting asymmetrically. No violence, please, but go with the Maxine Waters playbook of gathering a crowd and making the other team feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Kamala is really letting her commie flag fly, and so close to the election; it's a shame so many haven't been paying attention to the most far-left (voting record) senator. Her and Biden are an absolute sh*t-show. And yes, I realize Donald has his moments. Stay positive, Go Trump! "The recently appointed Facebook oversight board tasked with deciding which posts get blocked from the world’s most popular social networking website is stacked with leftists and foreign nationals who are regulating the speech rights of American citizens in the United States."
You know, if I wasn't living in America right now, I would not believe what's going on. Citizens are completely excluded from the political process. And they put up with it! We allow millions of foreigners to invade our country, steal our money, and take over the government. And they plan to keep going until they have destroyed our children, and replaced white people with their own. It's sickening. And don't believe for one minute that complaining on the internet is going to make any difference. They will remove your comments as soon as they appear. The rule is simple: Immigrants get everything they want, at the expense of Americans. They couldn't be more clear. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1n47906z7qmRZwndGlCEUYRdsucjb_Gue/view?usp=sharing |
