We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

The contrast with Hide'n Biden is even greater than it was with Hillary's garden party campaign. The Dems thought COVID was the perfect excuse to limit Biden's exposure.

It's backfiring bigly. RCP has Biden averaging +3 today vs Hillary +5.6 13 days from election day.

Less dangerous covid: "Hospitals are not designed to work at 100% occupancy" What does that even mean? Our local has less than 1% covid (never got over 2%), and has not gone over 87% occupancy through this, but they still keep saying we're "failing".

How do you even start trials when the first point is "Symptoms may or May Not be...." Are you being challenged with a Known virus from last year, last spring, or what it has mutated to today? If you get a vaccine, shouldn't you have to still quarantine 10-14 days?
Kansas nursing home has 62 residents all infected, 10 died. Given most nursing homes have a 50% annual turnover residency, they are right on track, if not below normal. Story strangely omits the ages of the deceased.

Data Points

Early voting wait times last Wednesday, the second day of early voting: 1 hour. Long lines, parking issue.

Early voting wait times yesterday, the seventh day of early voting: 50 minutes. Lines and parking not quite as bad.

Many demographics represented at my polling place yesterday, I saw maybe about 100 people, all ages, many social demographic categories, a few different races, quite a few immigrants too.

In past elections there has never been an early voting line more than 10 minutes long, and usually there is no line.

The economy is crashing. The dominos are falling. There are the obvious ones, the small businesses and farmers. But the REITs and property owners are going down soon. Homeowners will be next and even larger businesses too. The states will go bankrupt and be unable to pay retirements and unemployment. Behind the scenes foreign investors are buying businesses and properties, even the Chinese are benefitting from this pandemic they caused. It will all crash down soon, all gone. Weeks? Months? Hard to say. Government will prop it up and hide the facts. But anything could trigger it.

What would you do if you knew this was happening and you had a few months to prepare?
