We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
It's no longer manly men who go to the field and dig, now you have girls like me.
I clicked out there. My observation is that STEM fields make women nervous and anxious, and they quickly form a Women's Workplace Issues committee. Their lectures on science suck.
Because they're not really into the subject like a man is.
Her evolutionary “bush” didn’t seem to show any evolution. All the different species of birds came of a common “trunk.” Shouldn’t it show a chain of bird species evolving from previous more primitive species?

Fossils represent the “leaves” of the tree.
Evolution is a branching process. Fossilization is rare, and most species do not leave distant descendants. Hence, it is unlikely a particular fossil will represent a direct line, but will more likely be a cousin. There’s plenty of evolution showing: Compare microraptor to modern birds.
