Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Russian Billionaire Yacht

Have seen it a couple of times off our coast. Dwarfs anything else. Downside is it is so big they can't bring it into port, so they either have to try find somewhere to moor outside, or just go back and forth.

That Russian yacht looks like they swiped the design from the Zumwalt class of destroyers, DDG-1000

I bought a ton of silver when the prices were low. If Biden gets elected causing the next great depression and silver goes to $200 an ounce I'm buying one of these.

Judge Smales would be pleased!

Good to park them in the Caribbean, away for hurricanes or move them quickly to remote areas away from such bad weather.

Or along the Mediterranean coast in France or Monaco.
Too pretty to take out in the real ocean!

An evening's wikiwander not long ago had me looking at various 'notable' yachts owned by famous people, and it struck me that if you started looking at press reports of who was visiting where on what yacht, it was very rarely the owner of record -- they might do a cruise once a year or so, but generally the calendar was filled with use by other often equally famous people who had chartered the yacht for a time.

So I'm noting that the SunSeeker 95 berths 12, and with a week's rental running 40,000 and up, that averages to $480/night/person if you don't leave beds empty.

I suspect that a lot of yachts like this are portable hotels that set up near Cannes for film week, near Monaco for race week, etc.
