It could also be farther away than we thought, which come to think of it, it has quite a track record for being.

Always unstated is what, exactly, is supposed to happen with all that highly radioactive, embrittled metal that surrounds the reaction chamber. You can't have fusion without lots of neutrons flying out, and the problem with neutrons (besides making ordinary things radioactive) is that you can't steer them with electric or magnetic fields. So the whole thing is guaranteed to be hot, hot, hot after running for a while. Then what are you supposed to do--- throw it away and build a new one?

If only there were a way to do this at room temperature...

Yeah. Fusion reactors have been "just around the corner" for 20 years.

Yet it's reported as if it's anything more than wishful thinking.

This was an exceptionally poor article from a professional journal.

It could have been an informative article, but then it started roping in the CO2 messaging and gave its hand away. When atmospheric CO2 levels start getting mentioned irrationally, that's a sign that the purpose of the article is to further the APGW panic. Too bad, because plastic is ubiquitous in our lives now and we need to figure out what to do with it. This article leaves everybody clueless, as designed.

Similarly, the NASA climate projection showing global cooling is coming, is actually something that many real scientists have been expecting and looking for - given our actual climate history, instead of the APGW fables. Here too, CO2 gets to steer the conversation.

Bigger than any climate projection, bigger than even the Russia Collusion story, is the modern story of how an irresponsible industry - the modern media - with tools of almost limitless persuasion and coercive power at its disposal - worked to remake civilization from the inside using a program of disinformation on an entire population of consumers, most of whom disagreed.

I truly believe these un-American Marxist mouthpieces for the Democrat Party need to be charged with insurrection or treason, whichever is the best fit legally.
It is they who are most responsible for 6 months of lies, misdirection, riots, mayhem and death. None of it has had anything to do with protecting or informing us citizens. It has been an all out effort to sabotage President Trump to prevent his re-election. They must be in a state of nirvana over the success of what they have done.

Recycled plastics aren't worth the cost, except for the ones that are. Sounds like some forward-thinking risk managers in Big Oil could subtly steer plastics production towards PET and HDPE, claim the eco-freako high ground, and maybe diversify into recycled plastic feedstocks. And still crank out feedstocks for "virgin" plastics with barely a ripple.

Yes, hydrocarbons degrade with recycling. But how often are you going to replace an HDPE park bench or deck planks? Every 25 years?

You're an idiot if you watched the bait-and-switch on "flattening the curve" and still believe science and common sense have anything to do with the government's response to the coronavirus pandemic. Remember "never let a crisis go to waste"? It's all about the power to make you bend to the government's will, it's got nothing to do with public health. These promises that these constraints will only be in place "until things return to normal" are utter hogwash, this is the new normal. Once you give the government a little bit of power, you're never getting it back. If you're willing to do as you're told for the coronavirus, why not for the flu and the common cold? What about the public health crises of childhood obesity, racism, climate change, wealth inequality, and ingrown toenails? It's coming - you've shown yourselves to be sheep, don't blame the wolves when they come for you, you knew they were wolves.

I sure wish that cooling would happen soon. I’m tired of 80° days. It’s October, on the Front Range of Colorado. I expect low 70’s, rain occasionally, and cool nights. Why won’t the weather do what I want?

Yeah.

Here in southwest Nebraska it was 90s until the week before last, a mild week last week and back in the 80s this week.

Still, I'll take it, but what I would really like to see is some rain. It's been a very dry year.

How bad has the smoke been from forest fires? A few times this summer it was raining ash. Because of all the smoke, over the last two to three months, I have only occasionally seen the mountains.

It's been noticeably to bad all summer and fall.

Last week it finally cleared out but it is back today. In fact you can smell the smoke today.

We always seem to have a haze from it around the horizon, but on bad days you can see the smoke between the viewer and trees/buildings. It often looks like it must be originating in our area, but it is not.

We continue to be lectured to wear masks by people on TV who are not wearing a mask. This morning Biden said Trump deserved to get Covid because he didn't wear a mask and Joe wasn't wearing a mask. The irony is lost on them. NO ONE on TV is wearing a mask and yet they all continue to spread the whole mask meme.

Then there is the social distancing thingy. In stores there are foot prints 6' apart. But to shop you must walk close to people, almost touching them close. So why even have the foot prints on the floor? Now we find out that in the Pence Harris debate they will be 17' apart. Not 6' but 17'!! Did the social distancing rule change? Will the foot prints in the grocery store have to be realigned to 17'?

Tucker did a 6 minute special on Sweden and how they don't wear masks, don't social distance and haven't shut down. Yes they had a lot of covid cases and deaths but less than many hot spots in the U.S. But now they seem to be past all that and covid has run it's course. So did we need to shut down and bankrupt the restaurants and movie theaters?

Yes. Because if we hadn't, the petty tyrants in certain states and cities couldn't have unleashed their inner Dictators.

This has been wonderful for them. They could indulge themselves to their heart's content, coming up with all sorts of rules and plans, all 'very important to keep people safe'.

The Two Weeks are now almost 7 months. Deaths nationwide are way down. Cases are down - we're getting roughly 45k/day with greatly expanded testing (and with some question whether the test is massively oversensitive, too.) but the deaths are way down. And in the end, it's the deaths that are the real metric - not how many cases there are.

His first point is what sweeps the field in my view: the Deep State governs so much of the country's life that capturing Washington is... well, everything.

The other main factor is that politics has become a substitute religion for the Left — they gain all their sense of moral worth via politics. That's sick, but it means all the rest of us have to use their rules of engagement — because of the first point!

Who wants to tell some pollster that you are going to vote for Trump when the last time you admitted that in public, your house suddenly was damaged?

And, in my area, don't even talk about sporting yard signs or car stickers or wearing Trump/MAGA gear in public. All are death wishes.
