Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Do you think they will go after interracial adoption? The majority of minority children available for adoption go to white homes. I’ll bet many are progressives, and then there are all the celebrities.
Nearly 100 million Americans have adoption in their immediate family, whether this includes adopting, placing, or being adopted. 6 in 10 Americans have had personal experience with adoption, meaning that they themselves, a family member, or a close friend was adopted, had adopted a child, or had placed a child for adoption. Almost 30% are trans racial. It doesn’t seem like a winning tactic to me. Does anyone with any sense really believe that Biden is ahead in this race?
Wasn't 2016 enough of an object lesson in the worthlessness of polls? Somehow the same media that is relentlessly one-sided in their "reportage" is going to be pushing honest poll numbers? Fool me once, shame on you, etc. Trump's so far down in the polls, it feels like Election Night, 2016!

It's not the first time..... Since I read the lectionary every Sunday, this is almost like experiencing a little heaven on earth...Sunday morning links surprise...a MAGA landslide on 11/3 will feel similar.
I think I'll go listen to With God on our side by zimmy now. re s a ‘Climate Lockdown’ Next?
QUOTE: Under a “climate lockdown,” governments would limit private-vehicle use, ban consumption of red meat, . . . Yeah. There are insufficient protein substitutes and the drop in quality of life would be tangible. Let them try forcing people into suffering malnutrition. Let's see how that works out for them. Re: ‘Climate Lockdown’
Abiotic oil - the argument continues. [url}https://enviroliteracy.org/energy/fossil-fuels/abiotic-theory/[/url] Pray for Amy Coney Barrett, and her persecutors, as she meets the Senatorial approval process.
If they think going after Barrett for being a christian (and Antifa tearing down christian statues) is a winning strategy, they do not have their head on straight at all. Sure it plays well to their athiest base, but even many who do not go to church do not appreciate attacks on churches. It is like Clinton's line about a "basket of deplorables" really set people off.
Given the flimsy crisis of Covid that was used to justify the lock down most of the United States, what will prevent our political leaders from extending it? All the Covid reasons cited will apply to every moderate to heavy flu season. The Climate Crisis® has many of the features of Covid that can be used to justify further and extended lock down - regardless of their scientific truth; which didn't stop them during the current situation.
The only responsible thing to do is ignore them, get back to work, and challenge them to fine and arrest you - then take them to court when they do. Unfortunately there are too few of us that can afford to do so. And from what I've heard from many of my friends, too many people believe the scary, pandemic bull crap. Trump tax returns: Isn't it amazing the IRS lets him skate on all those taxes he hasn't paid? It's more amazing Mueller didn't crucify him while doing Russia, Russia, Russia.
Most likely the Prez has drawn an income on investments....like I have. My tax burden is low....in the hundreds. Why you ask?
Tax laws are written to keep money in circulation. Period. If you keep your hands off assets and reinvest. Having a million bucks does not mean a million bucks in your pocket. President Trump does not keep his billions stuffed in a mattress somewhere like you seem to believe. His hundreds of companies employ tens of thousands. Those companies alone pay out tons in taxes of all manner and form. He follows the laws and has a cadre of accountants and tax lawyers to ensure he does. Perhaps if you educated yourself on investments and wealth creation you would understand. Until you reach a level of wealth that he has attained you could not appreciate what he has accomplished. Poor people do not create jobs. I thought I was being sarcastic, but it might have gone over your head.
Re: Joe Rogan World Vs. NPR World
"The socially progressive ruling class — in government, and across institutions — will implement a social credit system, both to control the population and to give people a sense of who they can trust. Americans may not realize that the advent of the social credit system in China was not merely to give the totalitarian government another means of controlling the masses. It was also because decades of communism destroyed the ability of ordinary people to trust each other. This is why the social credit system is not only useful to the state, but also to ordinary Chinese people." Look: I don't know anything Joe Rogan, but he's obviously a communist, or a fool, or both. A social credit system is good for people? So I suppose when every person has a five hundred page police file, with every tiny infraction carefully listed, this guy will be happy. Record keeping has always been a totalitarian method of control. Stalin was an expert. So I wonder if Joe would like to live in a world where anybody can be arrested at any time; for a twenty year old "crime". There is nothing "socially progressive" about China, they are committed to a global communist planet, where nobody owns anything. And for the Chinese, America stands in the way of utopia. So right now, they are using blacks and jews and hindus and women as agents. The objective is to put America into lockdown, and then begin rationing. After a while, people will get used to not owning anything. |
