Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Ted Wheeler's home wasn't ransacked by rioters. There's no reason for 'sympathy-for-Ted' here. Ted Wheeler has a fortune from inherited timber wealth, an industry he despises, and he has fashioned his life to be a career politician; he's a lapsed Republican.
He has many homes to choose from so.....it would be more accurate to say that rioters ransacked the common areas in his condo building, much to the annoyance of the other tenants - who are probably sick of being accosted by the hairy, smelly vagrants outside their lobby door, sick of Ted and his weak-kneed leadership masquerading as 'principled', sick of their trashed-out neighborhoods and shuttered businesses, and so forth. I'm sure that sentiment, that Ted Wheeler is a public nuisance to others, would also generate some sympathy with most of Portland's other current tenants, after 100 days of Bedlam. But who knows? They've voted him in before. Regarding the upcoming dispute of the Presidential election, well all I can say is [i]really?[\i]. They're still disputing the 2016 election, 4 years later. Of course they'll be miserable if they lose. The question is, what will the people who stand to see their Trump votes devalued again, do in response? Post-election, I'm just guessing that violence might be the only answer unless you want to continue getting run out of restaurants and harassed in public by spoiled emotional nitwits, who don't seem to understand the levels of frustration that have been pent up over the past 4 years.. It will never happen, but the only way this country will have a fair election is for people to stop paying any attention to the "news" (on either side) and simply take notice of what is happening in their own state and local community, believe their eyes and their own experience and vote in person accordingly.
When we expect the "news" to inform us, we are in our own bubble, seeking confirmation for our beliefs, rejecting anything that doesn't confirm them. I'm not sure that's a bad thing, unless our beliefs are based on what the "news" tells us is true, regardless of whether that truth is reflective of personal experience. Many, too many, people have ceased thinking for themselves and taking responsibility for their choices so....here we are. re Philadelphia Ordered Restaurants Closed. Then the City's Mayor Went Out To Eat in Maryland.
Yeah. He deserves all the flaming rhetoric he gets, but what about San Fran Nan? Pelosi knowingly makes an illegal salon trip to get her hair done and then, when caught, says she was set up by said salon. That salon may have to close permanently as Pelosi's attack dogs are all over them. https://thefederalist.com/2020/09/02/pelosi-i-was-set-up-for-embarrassing-salon-visit-violating-covid-orders/ Re: vote fraud and contesting the election
One of the things that generally keeps rules for tight is a basic distrust of the other side but what happens when one side trusts the other but the other side doesn't trust the first? You get where we are now. Democrats can propose or set up voting schemes that are easily circumvented knowing that they will be the only ones who do the circumventing and that Republicans, for the most part will be honest. Sorry for the typo. It should be:
One of the things that generally keeps rules for voting tight is a basic distrust of the other side... Pentagon Report: China Now Has World’s Largest Navy as Beijing Expands Military Influence
Kinda like "Patton had command of the biggest Army of invasion" prior to D-Day" (his Army's "tanks" were balloons and his "trucks" made of cardboard!) Or the CIA's report that "The Soviet Union has the best economy and biggest Military" just months before the Berlin Wall came crashing down! The CCP is almost as good as the Soviets, at creating "Potemkin" military forces! Two more articles about how the Democrats are planning to steal the election:
"Democratic data firm predicts 'chaos' on election night with Donald Trump set for landslide victory which will take days to be revealed as victory for Joe Biden, thanks to postal votes" https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8682935/Dem-data-firm-predicts-chaos-postal-votes-revealing-days-election-Biden-victory.html “A federal judge on Monday extended the deadline for absentee ballots to be returned in Georgia, ruling that they must be counted if postmarked by Election Day and delivered up to three days afterward. The decision will likely result in tens of thousands of ballots being counted after Nov. 3 that would have otherwise been rejected, enough to swing close elections.” https://www.ajc.com/politics/judge-extends-georgia-deadline-to-return-absentee-ballots/OEETBUYMWJASHCW3YMVCKTPPYI/ It seems to me based on who is rioting and where the riots are taking place, is that the perceived problem is not that conservatives are too conservative, but that Liberals are insufficiently liberal. It's not right-wing groups rioting in leftist cities; it's not leftists rioting in right-wing areas. It's leftists rioting in leftist enclaves, demanding that the left become even more radical.

CNN publishes a vicious and dishonest hit piece against Trump: Anyone surprised????? Crap "news" network! Re: "Since 9/11...": Of which year? The unbounded growth of the Federal Government has been a problem since Wilson got the Federal Income Tax enacted, and let's give a special mention to FDR and LBJ for making the first really great strides in that direction.
