We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Boston wants to Go Green

Pirate offers them some meaningful suggestions that would make a real difference:



Get rid of Logan International Airport. No flights in or out


No sports teams are allowed to take fossil fueled trips to play the Bruins, Red Sox, or Celtics, or any of the college teams


All city vehicles must be replaced with non-fossil fueled ones


All city buildings must be kept no lower than 78 when it’s warm an 63 when it’s cold.


All city buildings can only use renewables.


All elected city officials are restricted from using any form of fossil fueled travel.


Just a few ideas, seem reasonable, right?

The green new deal should be optional. Those who believe in AGW sit in the dark and shiver, the rest of us carry on as before.

Sports teams are allowed to take fossil fueled trips to play the Bruins, Red Sox, or Celtics, or any of the college teams after paying a confiscatory rate carbon tax.

All city and private vehicles must be replaced with non-fossil fueled ones.

All city buildings must be kept no lower than 68 when it’s warm an 73 when it’s cold. Private buildings to be set at 80 and 65 with thermostats centrally controlled.

All city and private buildings can only use renewables.

All non-government employees are restricted from using any form of fossil fueled travel.

Green taxes on single family dwellings based on square footage.

Just a few ideas, seem reasonable, right?

This weekend someone insouth Boston put a big trump 2020 on one of the streets just a few miles from an older sign, blm. Within 24 hours authorities removed the trump sign, the bl m still remains. I guess freedom of speech is not allowed in mass.

I endorse the concept. If our kids can't go to private schools then no member of congress can sent his kids to a private school.
Lets go farther. Say congress mandates electric cars, for three years before that law goes into effect all of congress cannot, under the penalty of a year of federal prison, cannot ever ride in any car/vehicle of any kind that is not 100% electric. To coin a phrase, make them live up to the laws they pass on us.

But true believers can do all of this stuff voluntarily, already. I'm sure there are some already doing it. Knowing the depth and gravity of their commitment should win the argument decisively - tell you what, trot them out and let's count....

Boston wants to go green? Well, considering that the Irish Syndicate already runs the whole town, I think that more "Green" would be easy. Just require that every homeowner buy solar panels from an "approved" local vendor. That would be green.

Or alternately, reduce all property and sales taxes by fifty percent; and then fire half of the government employees. But maybe that's too green. So they could start just by dissolving all the unions, and cancelling all public pensions. We can call it the John F. Kennedy anti-corruption act. He would be so proud.
