Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

California has first rolling blackouts in 19 years — and everyone faces blame. While California braced for another round of rolling blackouts Monday night, the state’s grid operator held off for a second straight night. Via SDA:

The Palos have been thrown of every country they have been living in...except Israel.
Re: The Red Guard Rampage.
Read this quote: Tribalism makes it possible to overlook corruption and blatantly anti-democratic actions. It makes everything terrain over which to fight, including neutral institutions like the US Postal Service. If parts of the government, or the nation, become casualties in this war, so be it. If the President promotes incompetent people, so be it. If the President is mentally or morally impaired, so be it. If the President makes common cause with racists, so be it. If the President violates the sanctity of elections, so be it. There is no positive vision of government action in the name of all Americans, and no negative vision of actions that would deserve blame, censure, and possibly removal. There is only the war of one tribe against an imagined enemy. https://www.outsidethebeltway.com/political-culture-eats-institutions-for-lunch/ Basically, the Red Guard is an opinion-shaping machine. They want to tarnish all Executive actions as "immoral" simply because the right doesn't promote the tax-and-spend ideology of the left. First of all, black identity, and gay identity, and redskin Identity are fine. But white identity is "Tribalism". That's evil. Then, political tax-funded groups like the "Post Office Union Pension Guarantee Fund" is described as "neutral". But the Post Office is asking for a lot of tax money to fund pensions which were never approved. Then, since all white people are tribal racists, the President must be one too. After all he's white. So it's clear that President Trump is a pension-cutting, racist, mentally impaired anti-American. Real Americans want high taxes and huge public pension obligations. Paying those pensions will be a positive moral action, because Union people are really nice. Many of the statistics about NY taxes and HNW residents in the SDA link are wildly wrong.
Universal Mail-in Ballots being pushed out onto the stage and propped up with little-to-no discussion. No comparisons of its mechanics to the existing methods. That's the fraud: No mentions at all of the 'why' of it, except the irrational excuse of the COVID Terror.
How many people do you know, personally, who haven't ventured from their homes in the past month? Only the old, in facilities. So why, with Absentee Balloting, Early Voting, and Election Day polling, is there a requirement for an untested and difficult-to-monitor alternative? Some states already have mail-in balloting systems in place and tested (Utah). Texas has 2+ weeks of early voting in October, plus Absentee Balloting if you request one early. If you have left your home within the past week or two for shopping, or work, or looting opportunities, then you can vote in person. One gets the feeling that the purpose of the Mail-In Voting idea lays in the prospect for disputing unfavorable results, by sowing confusion and dissent. That concept has already been successfully tested in many states, during the recent Mail-in Primaries: Thousands of ballots lost, discarded, 'found' after the closing date, delivered to dead people, or delivered out-of-state. Voting in person -unless it's impossible- is both a duty and a right. Keep the existing system and focus defensive measures against fraud, including ballot harvesting in the old age facilities. Already early-voted in a local (San Antonio) election. Much more orderly and socially-distanced than the supermarket. Didn't get any WuFlu cooties, and I know my vote got counted, without passing through unaccountable hands.
Voting in person, only!
don't forget the PURPLE INK on the fingers to prevent you from voting again somewhere else. Assad takes revenge on largest Palestinian refugee camp in Syria
As if this hasn't happened before, such as in Jordan or Kuwait or Lebanon. IIRC, Oriana Falacci, in an interview with Yasir Arafat, got him to admit that more Palis were killed by Arabs than were killed by Israelis. The reporter who asked Trump about QAnon didn't just get up that morning and make this up. This is a Democrat/deep state plan to divert attention away from the violence and mayhem from BLM and ANTIFA AND the fact that the Democrats won't criticize them. This question was planted by the left and the MSM complied. Now we are supposed to believe that QAnon is some dangerous group that we should fear and the MSM will make this a huge diversion from the truth.
What is the supposed 'crime' that QAnon and their followers committed? That the believe in a huge deep state conspiracy to overthrow Trump's presidency. That's it! That 'crazy' belief that the deep state tried to prevent Trump from being elected and after elected tried to remove him. But wait! Hasn't this been proven??? The other great 'crime' of QAnon followers is that they love America and are deeply patriotic. Seriously? That's it? In a totally unrelated event the DOJ arrested Steve Bannon. Move on, nothing to see here.
"Audrey Strauss, the Acting United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, and Philip R. Bartlett, Inspector-in-Charge of the New York Field Office of the United States Postal Inspection Service (“USPIS”), announced the unsealing of an indictment charging BRIAN KOLFAGE, STEPHEN BANNON, ANDREW BADOLATO, and TIMOTHY SHEA for their roles in defrauding hundreds of thousands of donors in connection with an online crowdfunding campaign known as “We Build the Wall” that raised more than $25 million.
Southern District of New York. Didn't they have something to do with sitting on Anthony Weiner's laptop, full of Hillary's private-server emails? Aren't they the ones suing the oil companies? Aren't they the one trying to pry loose Trump's tax records? It's almost 4 years since he left the Trump administration, but in all the news stories he's tied right up with Trump along with Flynn, Cohen, Manafort, Stone etc etc - all of who were convicted of crimes having nothing to do with the Trump Administration. It is punishment for being a friend of Trump AND a warning to those who might befriend any conservatives in the future. Do you believe that we are not in a civil war?
Exactly. Barr should respond by doing the Clinton foundation next, or maybe one of the many David Brock PACs: Media Matters, Correct the Record, America Bridge. All of those have had their tax dodge issues. Not defending Bannon, he will either win or lose in court.
Of course the story is played as if the SDNY is a shining independent avenging knight - not a department in Trump's DOJ.

Re: Shutdowns
To be more accurate, what that article points out is that the relatively uncontroversial gross measures like stopping sporting events and concerts, working from home were possible, limiting travel, and practicing good hygiene were useful. Continuing attempts to fine-tune the spread of Whu Flu by restricting and loosening business operations, prohibiting sales of certain items, and so on are just ticking people off to no good end. The absolute killer practice, though, is allowing COVID infected individuals into congregate senior living communities. Re: shutdowns & Sweden
It should be noted that Sweden's population density is vastly different from New York and Illinois so it's a little difficult to make such broad generalizations about shutdowns. I also don't know how Sweden counts Wuhan virus deaths but I have to believe they make more sense than the CDC's method. Having said that, Sweden certainly should have a disaster on the order of New York or worse based on what shutdown proponents would have you believe. Also what is not counted in the death counts are those that are side effects of the shutdowns - deaths caused by reduced hospital and doctor visits, suicides, drug and alcohol related deaths, etc. I suspect that Sweden would have very few of these related to their Wuhan virus measures. osted on August 19, 2020 by John Hinderaker in Coronavirus

No one in the mid-east likes the palis, but there must be someone in Brooklyn who loves them, because Bay Ridge is filled up with them. Saturday Night Fever it ain't. "Democrats stay silent on violence in their cities"
SILENCE IS VIOLENCE! SPEAK FREELY, OR ELSE! VIRAL VIDEO: Veteran Tells California County Lockdown Protests ‘Aren’t Going To Be Peaceful Much Longer,’ ‘Our Families Are Starving’
QUOTE: In the video, Carlos Zapata, who identifies himself as a veteran, teeters on the edge of total outrage as he warns the county government that the American people will not tolerate being locked down much longer. . . . “This is absolutely horrendous what you’re doing to these people,” said Zapata. “I am a business owner and I’m telling you our families are starving. You guys can sit here with your jobs. You can sit here and get paid. His simmering rage readily apparent, Piccata then issued a dire warning: peaceful citizens will eventually cease being peaceful, asserting that “families are starving.” “I’m telling you right now, that right now we are being peaceful,” he said. “And you better be happy that we are good citizens, that we are peaceful citizens. But it’s not going to be peaceful much longer. This isn’t a threat. I’m not a criminal. I’ve never been a criminal. But I’m telling you, good citizens are going to turn into real concerned and revolutionary citizens real soon.” https://www.dailywire.com/news/viral-video-veteran-tells-california-county-lockdown-protests-arent-going-to-be-peaceful-much-longer-our-families-are-starving Is it just the frustration talking or is he a prophet? For his prediction to come true, a great number would have to rise up at once, otherwise the ones that do will simply go to jail. I would also add this.
Crowds of angry voters showing up at elected officials' monthly meetings and threatening to vote them out of office if they fail to change policy can have the desired effect. My wife ventured into local politics in California, not as an elected official but to lead angry crowds to city hall over particular issues. She says that most of them aren't ideologues and just wish to remain in power. If you can intimidate them, then "You can lead them around by the nose." Worked for her. I haven't read of that tactic being tried anywhere yet, and that would be a far easier and safer tactic to try than insurrection. My wife ventured into local politics in California, not as an elected official but to lead angry crowds to city hall over particular issues. She says that most of them aren't ideologues and just wish to remain in power. If you can intimidate them, then "You can lead them around by the nose." Worked for her.
That also explains why very few to no elected official of the Democrat persuasion has stood up to the BLM-Anfifa mobs in Democrat-run cities. They are afraid of BLM-Antifa. They were having blackouts in California 20 years ago. Haven't they learned anything?
Vanderleun's Bad Thoughts resonate. I've had them everyday for the past 4 years. I fancy myself a reasonable person, mind my own business, take care of myself, cause no-one but myself problems, just an ordinary conservative - too quiet, too polite, too responsible (if such a thing is possible). That being said, I cannot wrap my mind around the despotic need for power that motivates the progressive radical left, nor the magical thinking infecting their followers. I just don't get it. They are as foreign to me as I am to them, I am sure, but while I am okay with them being them (as long as they aren't hurting me and my country, which they surely are) they cannot tolerate me being me, who hurts nothing and no one.
