We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Cut up strawberries in quarters in a bowl and liberally sprinkle with sugar. Let sit in the fridge for a few hours, the sugar will draw out the juice and make it a syrup. Spoon out a nice size serving and put a shot or two of bourbon in it. Stir enough to mix the bourbon with the syrup and eat with a spoon.
If you simmer a cup of balsamic vinegar down, reducing it to a syrup, there’s no need to add sugar. It’s great over berries believe it or not. Very yummy on vanilla ice cream too. Reduction boils off the vinegar taste leaving a lusciously sweet syrup. Warning, you have to do this in a well ventilated kitchen. The vinegar smell as it is reducing will choke you, seriously.
