Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

"Seattle City Council Resolution Would Replace Police With 'Civilian-Led Department'"
There will be "civilian-led department" patrols. After a while, the "civilian-led department" patrols will need armbands and badges for better identification. Pretty soon, reality will dictate that the "civilian-led department" patrols be armed. A hierarchy of "civilian-led department" patrol leaders and patrol persons will rapidly evolve. And then the armbands and badges will give way to uniforms for the "civilian-led department" patrols. By which time, the Seattle city council will have just re-invented the wheel. TeeHee
That is the most succinct post I've seen in a looooooong time. Do you work for the Comedy Channel? Re: Biden Opens the Door for School Choice
Does anybody actually believe that Biden will allow his tax credit to be used for any sort of education choice when one of the main power centers in the Democrat Party is teachers's unions? It's an interesting irony but come on... A U.S. presence in Germany and other countries is a really good thing for the U.S. Our troops will be stationed somewhere and by putting them in more strategic locations it makes us better able to respond to a crisis. When military people in the Middle East were injured they were airlifted to Germany where our military had hospitals to take care of them. Eight hours closer than airlifting them to the U.S. This is true for all our offshore bases, they save lives and reduce our response time in a crisis.
Yes. Possible that we should just take the horrible medicine and provide a corridor from Germany, thru Poland, to Russia. Let Russia have its way with Germany, again. Get it over with. No, Belarus doesn't matter.
re 5,000 Burmese pythons removed from Florida Everglades
QUOTE: Wildlife officials estimate the Burmese python population may exceed 100,000. Even if the 100,000 guesstimate is a wild overstatement, it looks like the task of removing Burmese pythons will continue in perpetuity. If the 100,000 number is accurate, then my guess is they are not even making a dent in the snake population. I wish them well in their efforts. What do they do with the captured snakes? Lol...
Well, Alligator's a popular food. Why not python? "Tastes like gator, which tastes kinda like chicken... if the chicken had for legs, swam and was carnivorous..." re Tucker Drops a Truth Bomb About Dr. Fauci Being a 'Total Fraud'
I have only just been able to watch the Tucker Carlson clips in the past two or three weeks. I love this guy! I can see why he draws such high ratings. I like CJ quite a bit, but their defense of Big Tech was really weak sauce.
First - the dominating companies pay better. So? Pay the people who work against many us? Pay HB-1 Visa holders better? And in this industry, start ups pay poorly, but company ownership pays. Second - Data is only useful in large aggregates. Exactly. We don't want our data harvested. That sounds more like pro break up point. Third - People use them b/c they like the service. Well, duh. This isn't an argument against people using them, it's an argument against the lack of competition. Fourth - If big tech doesn't respond, a competitor will overtake it. Some evidence there, but we also don't know what good products have been shelved by Big Tech as they stifle competition. Finally CJ didn't address one of the biggest problems: censorship by Big Tech, and the accompanying efforts to manipulate elections. This is reason enough to break up Big Tech. It's not just about anti-trust regulation, it's a perfect example that people will misuse monopolies when they gain them. Re: The War Lobby
Look at this quote: "It’s all hardly surprising when one considers the millions of dollars flowing from the defense industry to dozens of influential Washington think tanks and politicians." https://nypost.com/2020/07/31/president-trump-takes-on-the-permanent-war-lobby-over-germany/ Now look at this quote: "A Los Angeles Times analysis found Tesla has received more than $4.9 billion in government support." https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8587997/Elon-Musk-praises-Chinese-workers-slams-Americans-entitled.html Tesla didn't receive any money in "government support". I didn't send Tesla any money. Tesla and the Military and Boeing simply bribe politicians to give them money. It couldn't be more simple. So the solution to the problem of runaway government spending is easy: Every payment must have a name attached to it. Who gave Tesla 4.9 billion dollars? Where is the spending record? Who made the decision? Was there any conflict of interest? The government tries to create the illusion that this unbelievable corruption is not happening. To that end, they created followthemoney.org But unfortunately, it follows nothing. https://www.followthemoney.org/ There is no audit trail of State and Federal spending. It's a mystery. Here's how they do things in Kentucky: Mr. May can curry favor with his lobbying client.. while pocketing upwards of $200 million in contingency fees courtesy of his eye-popping 25% contingency agreement with the Commonwealth....If you needed any more proof, look no further than the public comments made by the FBI Special Agent in charge of cleaning up the Commonwealth, who went so far as to say that that government corruption was “tolerated” and “ingrained” in Kentucky’s political culture. It's not just Kentucky, it's the whole country. https://www.lewrockwell.com/2016/05/saint-john-hunt/just-crooked-kentucky/ Tesla is trying to sell cars that come with a $1,200 a month car payment. That won't work, unless American taxpayers subsidize the price. As a result, taxpayers will get soaked again. After all, Tesla needs government support! And they will buy every single Congressman, to make that happen. Now talk about Musk repaying Government help that he was provided.

So which one calls itself the party of science? The Democrats are snatching defeat from the jaws of defeat, once again. QUOTE: The US Navy Seals are investigating after footage emerged of military dogs attacking a "stand-in" wearing a Colin Kaepernick shirt at an event last year. The video was reportedly taken at the National Navy Seal Museum in Florida in 2019, but went viral this weekend. Kaepernick, a former NFL quarterback, began kneeling in 2016 during the national anthem before games to protest against racial injustice. Several clips posted on Twitter on Sunday show a target wearing the red Kaepernick jersey being attacked by a number of military dogs. . . . "We became aware today of a video of a Navy Seal Museum event posted last year," the Navy Seals said in a message posted on Twitter. "The inherent message of this video is completely inconsistent with the values and ethos of Naval Special Warfare and the US Navy. One wonders if they would feel the same way if the target was wearing a jersey with "Trump" on the back? https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-53636098 "5,000 Burmese pythons removed from Florida Everglades" Mmmmm...Bar-B-Que (In my best Homer Simpson voice)
