We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
It is really very simple. In an society, any nation there are good people and those who would protect and defend good people. If You want to take over such a society you must convince the majority that those "good" people are bad and you must emasculate and disarm those people who would defend the good people. By chance, mostly, the "good people and the defenders of good people are descended from European immigrants. Not all of them, there are good blacks, good hispanics, good Asians, etc. but if you could put them all in one place and they stood with their "tribe" the majority would be of European extraction. They MUST be denigrated, emasculated, replaced so that the hidden powers who wish to take over can win.
Yes. When so many things have a delayed reward, cf. fitness efforts, require sustained hard work, cf. PhD, or are intractable for an individual, many turn to quick hits or advocacy a la Mrs. Jellyby.
Symbols have become more important than physical realities. How many of the companies that pressured the Washington Redskins to change their name have done anything like putting a factory or a warehouse or a customer service facility on reservation that badly needs jobs.
It is interesting that Boeing showed much more alacrity at forcing out an executive for a 30-year-old opinion article that he had written (opposing the use of women in combat) than they showed in resolving the MCAS problems with the 737.

The education asylums, the corporatist asylums, the NGO asylums, and the uniparty asylum have opened their doors to the globalist elite in trying to rip the republic from the rest of us as they fear nationalism. They love national socialists and international socialists but Trumpers electing Trump drove them straight into the clownworld of socialism.
Yeah, no, it's Crazyland, as you suggested. No other reason... in fact, no Reason is ever exercised...

Basically, this is the same thing as the Cultural Revolution in Mao's China. Destroy all history and culture so you can replace it with a Marxist ideology and made up history. Force everyone to believe it and repeat it through mandated "anti-bias" and "sensitivity" classes. What I find most interesting is that the Democrat Party has gone into overdrive to sanitize its past history. Most of those statues that are being removed and/or destroyed, including the ones they want to eject out of Congress, were good Democrats.
I've got to wonder if they're trying to appeal to us indians. For me at least, I'm not taking their bait. When were they ever interested in my well being before ? For that matter, how many of us are there left that they are that desperate ?
The destruction of the statues quickly went from making a statement to destruction for the fun of it. Pulling down statues gives some people a feeling of power they can't fairly earn any other way. Else, why destroy a statue of an elk?
No one gives a crap about Columbus, or the Redskins, or the Cleveland Indians. It's a matter of seeing how far you can push before they push back.
The bunch that tore down the statue at Minnesota's capital didn't expect to get away with it. It was broad daylight, they would put on a show, maybe get arrested. They were stunned when the state police stood back and let them do it.
There was, of course, the attempt to destroy the statue of the Elk in Portland, and a statue of the Virgin Mary and one of Jesus were burnt or destroyed. So there's a lot of this that just doesn't have anything to do with anything real anyway.
I don't get the antagonism for Columbus either. A lot of it is just a current fad for statue destruction. But long before we got into the current protest mess, they were attacking Columbus. The Americas were no paradise before he arrived, and the Columbian exchange improved everyone's lives.
