Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

I have to say, Maggie's Farm is an oasis of sanity in the vast dystopian desert of the Internet. Thanks, Bird Dog, News Junkie, Barrister, Bulldog, Bruce Kesler, Dr. Joy Bliss, and Roger de Hauteville. You guys and gals are the greatest! Thank you.
I agree. Even my husband was saying just the other day, "How does Maggie's Farm find so many links every day?"
He is not the reader, I am always quoting from Maggie's Farm to him. I enjoy the links and the commenters are the best on the internet. I bow to no person in my distaste for the congressperson from the Bronx, but in doing some searching there appears to be some proof that the alleged tweet is a fake.
AP says the AOC Tweet is fake.
https://apnews.com/afs:Content:9035601885 and, of course, AP would never NEVER lie. Especially in support of AOC
As Dan Rather would say , the AOC tweet was " Fake , but accurate. "
No One Is Ever Woke Enough: BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUmmer.
Why Isn't California Criticized Like Florida on Covid-19? Because the media are in cahoots with the Dems/progressives/anarchists/ communists. Scientists hail 'stunning' results that show areas of New York may have reached 68 per cent immunity...to sanity. New York's top medical advisor is already pooh-poohing the idea of herd immunity and attributing the drop in deaths to the public's willingness to embrace rigid standards of social-distancing and masking.
Our weekly local report has gotten so bad, they no longer talk about the 24 empty beds waiting for Covid patients. (the last report had less than 2 patients).
Wait a minute. I thought the whole reason to destroy the economy was so the hospital isn't over run? "Why isn't California ...?" Because California hasn't reopened to nearly the degree that Florida has. We have expanded beyond "essential" food and drug stores to allowing hair salons to operate, but sit-down restaurants and bars are still strictly closed (though take-out is OK, and now includes alcoholic beverages, forbidden for take-out before Covid).
What we need right now is a nice predatory class-action attorney, willing to file a motion for habeas relief for the entire state. Because the big thing they're not telling you is that all these new cases do NOT mean more deaths. Rather, Covid has lost nearly all its potency, just like every other flu-like disease, SARS, etc. The emergency is over. We just need to force the state to accept that fact. From Cmdr Salamandar:
This is going to be a hell of a decade or two. If you are in a big city, get out. If you are in a lot of debt, get out. If you find yourself in a large crowd, get out. If you are in a career that is in decline, get out. If you have your kids in bad public schools, get out. Get ready. If we're wrong, you'll be fine. If we're right, you'll be in a place to help yourself and others. https://blog.usni.org/posts/2020/06/17/2020-too-hectic-for-you-to-keep-track-ive-got-bad-news-for-you re Warrant Served On St. Louis Couple Who Defended Private Property, Rifle Confiscated, Report Says
I understand that these two are wealthy lawyers. They will probably get this sorted out. But what if it was you? Do you have the money to lawyer up after using a weapon for deterrence on your own property? Was any of the mob arrested that day? The moral of the story is don't tip your hand unless you absolutely have to. Deterrence can be a crime. In 99% of the cases when a Black politician gets control of a city, state or the DA's office the result is corruption and racism. They stole everything in Detroit that wasn't nailed down for decades, now it's Chicago. We watched Baltimore go down the tubes and now we will watch Atlanta do the same.
A notable exception was the one-plus term when Ivy Taylor was mayor of San Antonio, elected with strong support from conservative "folks" and businesses. (My very conservative city councilman called her "the only adult in the room.") The Whitey Wokesters (latest incarnation of SA's GG League) voted her out, and her replacement Ron Niremberg got elected just in time to catch the WuFlu Hot Potato. Meanwhile, Ivy's off to a sweet gig at a small HBCU, Rust College in Mississippi.
That the DA would seek a warrant is bad enough. What about the judge that signed off on the warrant? I read through the article and could not find what the warrant was based on. This is very disturbing. More Soros corruption. Now his money is going to field candidates for sheriff. Many a county sheriff in Colorado have publicly stated their opposition to Red Flag law. Soros will try and remove them. I really am not liking the direction things are heading.
Oh I see it now, the couple made the mob feel unsafe by brandishing their weapons at them. Even though the mob had broken through a gate, and were on private property. What BS!
You remember the arguments against stop and frisk? A legitimate effort to reduce gang violence and murder that worked dramatically was it seems unconstitutional. And yet forcing every living human in the U.S. to wear masks and stay 6 feet from every other human, shutting down the economy and schools is "not unconstitutional"??? Can this be true?
I think that the governors would have a legal basis to quarantine sick people. This makes sense, has a historic relevance and most importantly would actually be effective. But to quarantine people who aren't sick and in fact to quarantine everyone in the country does not make sense, is most certainly unconstitutional and clearly not effective. |
