We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

I’m pushing 60 hard and never thought I would say that I’m glad I don’t live in the US. 8 years active Army 15 NG and assorted time in the Peace Corps and Volunteer Fire Depts. Don’t recognize it and don’t care if I ever set foot there again.

yeah, dreamed of emigrating to the US for 20 years. Last decade it's gone down so far I don't even fancy visiting there as a tourist any longer.
Kazakhstan looks nice for next year, or maybe Uganda, but not the USA...

Kazakhstan an interesting place; spouse was there on a geological trip some years ago. Elmaty was very worldly at that time. One thing missing: bacon.

Listening and reading this morning about all the teachers up in arms over kids being back in school this fall. Heh. So, we're supposed to accept a New Normal of kids stuck in homes, the very worst thing for them long-term from virtually all perspectives. Talking heads wailing about the poor teachers, overcrowded classrooms, pre-existing health condition, what-abouts etc etc. Not one suggestion about how it might be constructively managed.

Starting to wonder if the Teacher's Union is going to become Trump's analog to Reagan and the Flight Controller's Union. IT could turn into an opportunity for a major turnaround in our educational institutions as well as the public schools.

With the recent SCOTUS decision to allow taxpayer money to non public schools including religious schools, I somehow think that mass movement of students to competitive education outside of government schools is a near given. Teachers unions will be as destructive to their monopoly as BLM is to their Democratic strongholds.

With their allies in media/social media, and corporate America now firing people for holding the wrong opinions, the Democrats are getting very good at smothering opposing viewpoints

Meanwhile, these were not hate crimes. There is likely no need for the reader to hit the link. One can easily guess why these aren't hate crimes.

Omar fondly remembers the refugee camp she grew up in, and wants to turn the entire country into one.

AOC is a toddler who thinks that by smashing what she doesn't like she's going to get a shiny new toy that she'll love.

Let's face it, from now on, if you make the mistake of dressing "preppy" or "traditional," you are identifying yourself as a privileged racist opposed to POC. People are going to dress as inconspicuously as possible to avoid attack. There's no future for folks like Brooks Brothers. Tommy Hilfiger or Ralph Lauren.
