Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

This "density of carbon in the soil" stuff has become admirably abstruse. You can support or denigrate just about any course of action with it, depending on whether it serves your real purposes, which clearly have nothing whatever to do with climate.
It takes real chutzpah to complain that planting trees does more harm than good, unless it's the trees you like, planted by the people you like, with the right sources of money. It's getting tougher to carve out a living these days in the world of Climate Grift. Research grants drying up, money getting diverted to the virus an pandemic studies. But don't worry. There's plenty of mileage left in this old clunker; It just can't be made to work on the Interstate anymore.
Well as predicted in those cities where Democrats have allowed BLM and Antifa to roam free crime has dramatically increased. The premise of BLM was always a lie. Police kill more white men than black men and in almost all the cases the "victim" brought it on himself. In fact most black deaths are caused by black men. Interestingly most white deaths are caused by black men too. Almost all inter-racial rape is by black men. The entire premise is pure BS.
The increase in crime was willing and intentional. We can make believe that blacks in America are "equal" but something is clearly wrong with them. They do not seem able to assimilate into a lawful society. We can make believe that this is about some "equality" thingy but in every part of the world where black Africans live their crimes rates are double or quadruple every other culture. There is only one thing that works to minimize the cultural tendency of blacks to commit crime and that is jail. re Climate change: Planting new forests 'can do more harm than good'
Once again the ruling class discovers that central planning leads to unintended consequences, and yet they never learn the lesson. Well, I'm shocked! Shocked I tell you. It seems that the NASCAR Bubba Wallace "noose" was nothing more than a loop tied in the garage door pull down rope. Every garage door on the circuit has one and has had them for years. But for reasons no one will admit too the Bubba Wallace staff choose to make a big deal about even though there is obvious evidence that they knew the real purpose of the rope. Another fake racist incident. Black Lies Matter.
Call me a cynic, but whenever I see a 'noose' story, I immediately get suspicious when there are no pictures available. The California 'noose' story eventually showed pictures of the fitness swings in question, and there was no way to conceive of them as nooses; they were obviously swings, with handles. As in this case, I guess, pictures would render the story self-refuting. I even saw articles this morning taking the opera buffa a step further, saying that 'multiple nooses had been found' at the NASCAR track.
..."The "noose" turned out to be a garage door pull-down rope. All NASCAR garage doors have them. Many are asking why NASCAR made the announcement before doing any investigating." http://sandrarose.com/2020/06/bubba-wallaces-noose-was-a-garage-pull-down-rope-all-nascar-garages-have-one/ They play us like a fiddle. This was a contrived story from the very beginning. Something to show people that NASCAR cares. NASCAR had to be in on it. All of this racist make believe BS is not going to end well.
One wonders how many more NASCAR fans will be lost because of this?
NASCAR seems intent on running every last fan off. It's incredible, but a simple rope for pulling down a garage door is still being called a noose, even after the whole farce has been de-bunked by the FBI. It's not a noose, you freaking low-rent, know-nothing, no-account, bottom-feeding morons. It's a Bimini twist knot.
It's used to create a fixed loop for heavy loads, like those on a deep-sea fishing line, or, you know, for pulling down heavy garage doors. Here's another quick fact: It's a fixed loop. Not a sliding slip knot, like can be found on, you know, actual hangman nooses. These would actually tighten on your hand and be increasingly uncomfortable when you're pulling on something heavy. Too bad nobody's in the Scouts anymore, learning about knots. Bubba Wallace certainly seems nice. Somewhere I have a small pamphlet on knots which I got back in my Girl Guide days (Girl Scouts for you Americans). There were several knots and hitches which had loops designed, just as the ones at the NASCAR garages were, for pulling stuff or attaching stuff. Nothing to do with "nooses"; everything to do with practical living.

Seattle Mayor announces the end of CHOP: ‘It’s time for people to go home’: THAT'S gonna work a TREAT. blind continuing panic over COVID-19
Short read that gives the whole episode the treatment it deserves including the reaction to it by a nation of sheep. I mentioned the fact that some states put infected people back into nursing homes in order to infect more elderly as there was always plenty of room in hospitals. Now I am banned by my family from ever mentioning China Flu. They even have a great aunt who was sent back to a nursing home with the dreaded Covid in NJ and died. I saw the order signed by Gov. Murphy sending the ill into the homes. Every last one of them recently bought several masks and wear them everywhere. re The real story of Aunt Jemima
The headline is misleading. It's like saying, "The real story behind Ronald McDonald", and then doing a capsule bio on the actor that played him. This kind of bullshit really annoys me. If the pancake brand had been "Nancy Green" then I have no problem with the story. It doesn't change the idiocy of killing a successful brand. That's a good idea; all products from now on should be called "Nancy Green." At least for a while, until someone figures out that either "Nancy" or "Green" is code for something or other, and then we can use the next name on the list, maybe Jane Doe, for a week or so.
The whole business reminds me of the occasional paroxysms of iconoclasm in history, where everyone suddenly got hysterical about sillier and sillier perceived dangers from symbols. That's probably also the fatality rate for under 80s, and under 90s. The median isn't much affected by tails, so not very informative. As long as you have a large population segment that's not much affected by the virus, the median says nothing at all about the rest of the population, which could well have a 100% fatality rate.
An average would pick up the tails. For your reading today, I suggest that you take a look at
