Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Crazy Dems: I was hoping that Chop or Chaz, or whatever, would step up and demonstrate the joys of the Green New Deal. How about, No private transportation, No meat, rationed water and electricity. What else, anyone?
No hydrocarbons! Gross, they would all be walking around naked. And what would happen to their housing (all the tents)?
Every day, I wake up and wonder how the crazy commie americans will move the peak stupid bar higher. Every day, I am not disappointed. This past week will be hard to beat. When even hand swings in a park are deemed racist, because they resemble a noose? Are you kidding me? I think peak stupid is a long way off.
Hard to disagree with that when Larry Tribe has to apologize for suggesting that Biden should pick a VP candidate with some accomplishments.
Wait... Tribe... isn't that a racist name or something? I tend to automatically reject any study that claims one of the many agendized health solutions cures anything. I don't know if exercise will prevent Alzheimer's but perhaps vitamin B12, or beet juice, or essential oils, or CBD, or tumeric will since they cure everything.
I don't know what causes Alzheimer's but likely it is red meat, grain fed beef, farm raised chicken, fertilizers, vaccinations, carbohydrates, roundup or government schools. It seems more likely that Alzheimer's is genetic. It also seems more likely that all of the agendized cures and causes are pure BS. A study that claims to show that A prevents B would have to first know how to predict with some certainty when B would happen.
This is what the CDC says about the causes of Alzheimer's: QUOTE: Scientists do not yet fully understand what causes Alzheimer’s disease. There probably is not one single cause, but several factors that affect each person differently. Age is the best known risk factor for Alzheimer’s disease. Family history—researchers believe that genetics may play a role in developing Alzheimer’s disease. Changes in the brain can begin years before the first symptoms appear. Researchers are studying whether education, diet, and environment play a role in developing Alzheimer’s disease. Scientists are finding more evidence that some of the risk factors for heart disease and stroke, such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol may also increase the risk of Alzheimer's disease. RealClearScience.com and the "researchers" who conducted the "studies" should tell the CDC what they are missing. So, at first lockdowns were needed, and masks were ineffective. Now masks are needed and lockdowns are ineffective. Which lie should we believe? Which lie was the truth? Hard to keep up these days.
JWM Some of this is based on a legal principle. Take for example the huge lawsuit against big tobacco; The key fact that made hundreds of lawyers multi-millionaires was NOT that tobacco cause lung cancer, everyone knew that. The problem was that the tobacco company didn't "warn" everyone that tobacco caused lung cancer.
Now apply this to the present situation. If some health officials say we should wear masks and social distance and check people's temperature and if you as a business fail to do this THEN you are legally liable for not taking those steps. Doesn't matter if those steps work. Doesn't matter that the disease is an act of god or a devious plan by China. IF YOU as a business person fail to take the steps that some fool or some genius (doesn't matter which) has said are necessary then YOU are legally liable. EVEN if later all those "necessary" steps are proved to be pure BS if you disregard the advice you are still legally liable. That is our legal tort system and that is how ambulance chasing lawyers become millionaires. The probably outcome of this disease is that about 70% of the world's population will get it. Some small percentage will die and some slightly larger percentage will become seriously ill and suffer more than others. This will happen whether you wear a mask or not, whether you wash your hands or not, whether you take your vitamins or not. The shutdown will just slow it and drag it out over a year or more. In the end it won't change anything except to destroy the economy. One Guy:
Exactly. It should have been enough to simply state the dangers of excessive smoking, and let people decide for themselves. But the whole war on tobacco devolved into hysteria, hyperbole, and outright lies. Second hand smoke is a lie. But it was a lie repeated often enough that legislation followed in its wake. Now no one has the option of assessing the risk for himself and allowing smoking in a bar, or deciding to not patronize bars that allow it. The same with the masks. Every day I see people out walking alone, driving in their cars alone, or even biking alone, and all masked up like they were visiting a plague ward. I find this unbearably creepy. Every evening I see a couple with their two kids out for a walk through our neighborhood. No one is near them, yet Mom, Dad, and kids are all masked up in the cool of the evening. It gives me the feeling of being trapped in some badly written science fiction dystopia. JWM JWM, It's true, it's very strange to see people wear masks when driving alone in a car or walking outdoors. Today I travelled home through several east coast states. In some places people were wearing masks in their cars and on the street and maintaining distance, while in the same town other people were walking without masks. And when I arrived home tonight in my very rural home town, I made a quick stop for groceries and inside the store nobody was wearing a mask. It was such a relief that I almost laughed out loud. Im so happy to be home.
Given the health "experts'" contradictory statements on masks over a relatively short period of time, we should simply demand a statement regarding what peer-reviewed scientific evidence they are relying on to justify their latest position.
The Climate Campaign Is Less And Less About The Climate: It's about messing with our minds.

I am sooooooooooooooooooooooo bummed. “How long it goes on, I don’t know. I’m certainly not going to quit.” Lefties are HATERS!!!!!!111111!!!!!!! It's tough trying to keep track of the crazy emanating from Democrats: When they're crazier by the minute... Oakland mayor: It doesn’t matter if the “nooses” found in our public park turned out to be hand swings: This mayor is NUTS. Thank you Roger! Love the sense of humor. I always look forward to it.
The effort to defund the police is not really about the police. It is about the money. Politicians and activists are after the money. The goal is to divert the tax funds dedicated to fund the police to various activists and fraudulent ends. We, the people, should demand that if they defund the police that the tax funds be returned to the tax payers.
My thanks to Roger--love his work and am always happy to have him show up!
Question: Who the heck is/always has supported John Bolton and why--the guy is now and always will be an "arseling". What is his attraction to the people that keep moving him forward? It's sometimes useful to have a complete assh*le on your side. For example, when Bolton was working in the United Nations on behalf of the US, he could get blood pressures spiking across the panel just by saying a few words, stating the US's positions in cold, factual terms. And when he was turned loose on Iraq and Iran as a weapons inspector or nuclear programs inspector, he was absolutely channeling his inner pit bull. They hated his guts, hated that he would come calling and actually do his job which hardly ever happens in the U.N., as we all know. He would take his authority right to the limit every time, and it kept our adversaries furious, which then had them making mistakes - which he was always ready to pounce on. Bolton's strength has always been his determined, unwavering focus on the mission. He has not always been right, though (not defending him here).
I think Bolton made a calculated choice and got a HUGE two'fer. First he wrote a book that will make him millions. I suspect it is mostly fiction but it will sell big time and be quoted by everyone. Second he pulled off a huge hit job on Trump which will endear him to the never Trumpers, the Rinos, the DC Swamp and most of the foreign leaders. If his book is responsible, or believed to be responsible for Trump losing the election his 'cred' will double. Basically he got something he has wanted all his life; to drop a nuke on someone.
Several weeks ago you published a link to a comment by a Rabbi who is also an attorney. Something in the title of your link said "he is now a hater". That was an excellent summary of reasons and events that led to many Americans voting for Trump. I would like to find that link again--please help.
Yes, Biden should choose a black woman as his VP, but it's possible to do that and STILL pick someone on her accomplishments A black woman, raised in poverty, who by her own efforts succeeded in everything she has tried. And SERIOUS foreign policy credentials as well.
I suggest Condoleezza Rice. |
