Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Re: Joe Biden Says George Floyd’s Death is Bigger than Assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. ...
Consider that they trivialised the Rev'd Dr. King a long time ago, reducing him to a skip day and rebranding him as MLK. He attempted to raise the bar, and managed to raise it a bit too high for their comfort. All too frequently, in the past half century or so, we have watched as anybody who tries to raise the bar ends up getting trivialised. Now we end up reaping the harvest of low expectations. Give it a few more years and people will start remembering MLK as a famous civil engineer, because they keep coming across streets named after him.
The complaints about training and outfitting Federal Agency cops might be starting to come up because Trump has the authority to quietly deploy them to quell the riots and looting - instead of troops, which was what they were hoping for, a shooting conflict. Emergency Powers can be a nice hole card. A famous civil engineer! Aggie, that's so good I'm liable to steal it.
What has impressed me most about this President is his knowledge of procedures and willingness to use them. The NRF requires localities and states to lead in that order; but they've refused to do so whenever the opportunity to blamestorm has been available to them. This is the first time they've been forced to do their jobs, with predictably mediocre results in most cases, and tragic incompetence in some. He has done similarly with Federal agency police forces. I'm tempted to become a fan, despite my general disgust with the state of politics in this country. Re; Seattle CHAZ and the Raz...
Governor Inslee is demonstrating his usual adept management of the situation. He is unaware of it....or so he would like the world to believe. Frankly, I could believe he would be "unaware" of it, as he is a dunce. On the other hand, I could also conceive of him thinking it a good play to say he is unaware, but is aware and just hoping the little temper tantrum on Capitol Hill will settle down on its own.....yes, he is that dumb. Oh, and the police, serving only the interests of their masters cede the turf to this gang of thugs. The question now begs, how long does the guilt ridden city government permit themselves to be cowed by the new competitor government within their city? Seattle is heading for the third world on the fast train.....Hell, it looks like the entire left coast is going there. LOL, Blazing Saddles is already sold out and is #1 Best Seller. Hope MF gets something for all the referrals.
Armed citizens turn out en masse to keep protests peaceful in Idaho town
QUOTE: “We just drove downtown Coeur d’Alene. It is packed with armed citizens. I’ve never seen so many AR-15s in my life. There’s at least a thousand armed citizens walking on the sidewalks and the streets are packed with cars and trucks with guys in the back with AR-15 and American flags everywhere. We saw two protesters wearing their little black clothing and black masks and sitting on a step quietly with their little poster board sign saying “our system sucks!” Guess why they’re being so polite.”~Keith Gibson, Coeur d’Alene resident. Word got out that ANTIFA was going to ship in rioters to mingle with peaceful protestors in our quiet little town…and indeed they did as several white Mercedes vans were seen with dozens of people that didn’t belong in our community. It was also made known that they were planning to use the local WINCO store as their staging ground. After learning this, a well-organized local group of concerned citizens set up a post in the parking lot to ensure that these unwelcomed invaders clearly understood that the citizens of Coeur d’Alene would have ZERO tolerance for any type of violence or destructive behavior in our town. https://buildingblocksforliberty.org/2020/06/coeur-dalene-idaho-stands-upantifa-stands-down/ A Brief History of Antifa: Part I
QUOTE: Empirical and anecdotal evidence shows that Antifa is, in fact, highly networked, well-funded and has a global presence. It has a flat organizational structure with dozens and possibly hundreds of local groups. Antifa's stated long-term objective, both in America and abroad, is to establish a communist world order. In the United States, Antifa's immediate aim is to bring about the demise of the Trump administration. Antifa is not only officially tolerated, but is being paid by the German government to fight the far right. — Bettina Röhl, German journalist, Neue Zürcher Zeitung, June 2, 2020. Get everything quickly, before it's TOO LATE. Animal House, too. Re: Tucker Carlson
Looking at the transcript of the Nikki Haley piece, Tucker did get hyperbolic. She didn't say what he quoted, "personally responsible", but given the surrounding events where cities are burning and people who have no culpability in what brought it on seem not to be able to apologize for their part in it fast enough, I'm willing to cut him a little slack. For her part, Haley's saying that we should all take Floyd's death as personally and painfully is hyperbolic also. It was certainly painful to watch, but I'm not sure why I should take it personally. The rioters (the "honest" ones, not those just out to break things and score a bunch of free stuff) certainly took it personally and they did that having no evidence of Chauvin's motivation. Haley didn't know his motivation either. If Floyd was killed because of a personal dispute or because of some criminal plan that went sideways are we supposed to take that personally? No, but if it was a racist killing that is something that can be taken personaly and because a lot of people took it personally is in part why we are where we are. Tucker Carlson reminds me a little bit of Bill O'Reilly. Compelling and pretty well-spoken and daring to say what others are probably thinking. It's pretty entertaining to see him re-frame issues or people into more direct and believable perspectives that make better sense.
But you have to bear in mind, it's just entertainment - when you hear either of these two speak on a topic you actually know in professional detail, whether it's a subject or an issue - you realize they're actually just as Full Of S#!* as any other celebrity figure making a living off the public spectacle. It's all designed to increase viewership. I still listen to him occasionally though. Entertainment... I guess to some. I have not found anything even vaguely entertaining about his show. Watching the rather speedy decline of Western civilization in general and our civil society in particular is not my idea of entertainment. But I watch it because I think Tucker is one of the few people who think past the immediate face of the news and intelligently attempt to see the larger picture (I guess you could say MSNBC, CNN, and the other alphabet networks see the bigger picture in the news but it's hard to call it intelligent). I don't always agree with him but by in large, I find him very insightful and prescient.
WHY? Really WHY are they running Biden?
There is more to this appointment --did you think he was elected? Democrats don't believe in open/clean elections. You should know better by now. How about this: they have chosen Biden to pull older white Americans away from Trump. By the end of this season--the senior citizens and near seniors will be looking for something comfortable and Biden presents that image. He can chastise his own age group and younger into feeling bad for voting against raging protesters. My mom lives in a nursing home and has some cognitive issues of her own. I was talking to her on the phone, and she said "Joe's not holding together very well, is he." Even she can see it.
That was my first thought, too. Older people are more likely to be familiar with the signs of cognitive decline in their peers and relatives. It's the younger folks who might not recognize it.
My theory on why Biden wound up with the nomination - Bernie was never going to get it because he is an actual threat to the crony capitalism that has become the main purpose of the Democrat Party (and a large part of the GOP, too). The candidate's mostly like to continue in Hillary's footsteps, Harris and Warren, never caught on with a Democrat Party electorate that is several degrees less radical than the PTB. Biden jumped in mostly to abet the shampeachment but wound up the front runner by default, and the only choice to stop Bernie when Bloomberg flamed out. The Great British Brain Unwashing

Tucker's show is one of the few TV shows I enjoy. Sometimes I don't agree with him, but he rarely minces words or refuses to tell you what he thinks. I also like that he lets his leftist guests hang themselves with their absurd emotional drivel. We'll see if Fox caves to the cancel movement. Must read Letter
