Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

It’s Past Time To Examine How Police Unions Protect Bad Cops
My somewhat tin-foil hat observation has been that one of the differences between the 1960-70s and now is that the complaint is not so much that police have too much power or use it excessively overall but that they are using it on the wrong people. Libertarians and some conservatives have been complaining since the W administration about militarization of police during the War on Terror, but from the tactic of SWATting to the use of the FBI and DOJ (and other agencies) for political espionage and harassment of opponents, the Left is just fine with the cops having the power so long as they use it on the right people. The difference between now and the 60's is the facility to immediately record sound and video and send it out to the world, on a pocket device. The coverage is much better and more raw and immediate (not professionally produced or edited).
For the first time people are getting a good look at the annihilating scourge of mob violence destroying our young people, and incited by the organization behind the mayhem. We are getting a sense of its sophisticated and diabolical intent. Trump is letting the Progressive governors and mayors show their face without the benefit of their mask of political platitudes. In order to support the radicals, they cannot confront them. They're weak - but at the expense of their communities, which means they're craven. I bet Trump will make them ask for help, which he will readily provide, just as he did for the COVID crisis - or he will wait until the politicians have made themselves redundant politically, at which time he'll step in. The communities will not forget this time, I think. Declaring ANTIFA a terrorist organization was long overdue, but at this point I feel pretty sure there is probably sufficient intelligence on their networks that Trump will be able to take the incremental step of showing proof that they are supported by foreign actors - in which case, they would be an international terrorist organization, on the same adversarial footing as ISIS or Al Qaeda - at least for military purposes. Preserving First Amendment rights for all citizens is one thing. Allowing unchallenged ground and airspace for an enemy sworn to destroy your society and Constitution from within, is another. Was there even a single city that was overrun with rioters that was run by a republican? Most are run by democratic socialists. There is no point in Trump bailing them out of their stupidity. They will only learn about the price of destruction by having to lay off city employees, defer repairs and defer new infrastructure in order to clean up the mess they made on their very own. I am tired of subsidizing stupidity and ignorance. Let them lay in the bed they crapped in.
“Complete anarchy”
That it surely is. Why do we have local police forces and a National Guard if not to protect the public? They’re not doing enough, almost certainly due to political intervention by mayors and governors with various bad motives, but whatever the causes are, their primary job is preventing exactly this kind of anarchy in the streets. Mayors and governors need to unleash them, and right now. This is not a parlor game. Trump was right to call them out last night. The clock is ticking. Complete, eh?
Wall Street closed? Banks closed? Federal reserve closed? All city services suspended? Bodies floating in the East River? Wow, the Mainstream Media are suppressing a lot. It's so much easier to destroy than create.
A toddler will smash apart a Lego tower because it's FUN. Mommy and Daddy will clean up the mess afterward, the kid doesn't care about what happens to the pieces. These idiotic 'activists' ENJOY smashing things they could never hope to build. Smash the systems that got us to a prosperous point in history. Smash the evil corporations that provide everything from medical care to electricity to cheap food for the masses to the internet - and something MAGICALLY will appear that's better. But they have no concept at all of how it all comes into being. It just does. They're pulling out the supports of the platform that holds them up. Like pulling the pilings out from underneath a beachfront house, it'll stand until it doesn't, and the collapse will be 'unexpected. Sure seems like it will be much more attractive to live in a small to medium size city.
Not related to any current post, I just wanted to thank you guys (all contributors, m&f) for putting this blog together each day. It's been one of my first reads for many years now, usually right after the comics, which now take up visits to four different sites to get my fill.
I don't really know how long I've been following you, it goes back to the early oughts, I believe I get great pleasure not only from sharing your postings, but by speculating on the relationships among the various contributors. Which I don't want to really know, it would spoil the fun my imagination provides. So lets just say, I miss the chairman, whose life advice was often handed down to my girls as they were the proper age for it. I thank him, the barrister, you Bird Dog, the head doctor, and the others who have contributed over the years. You nailed it, Bob. There are a lot of us old timers out here quietly enjoying this place but you spoke for us all.
Governor Roy Cooper took an oath to uphold the Constitution. He must have had his fingers crossed when he did. Perhaps I'm wrong but I think the Fourth Amendment is a part of the Constitution.
Here's the key part... "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects..." North Carolina Dems Endorse Looting: Is ANYONE surprised????
They're Dems! “Complete Anarchy”: New York Cops Beaten, Run Over by Cars in Night of Rioting and Arson by Peaceful Protesters (Video): Ahhhh, the New York state of mind. "Seattle Mayor: You know, white men are behind the violence at these riots": Well, how many black men are in Antifa????? https://twitter.com/JackPosobiec/status/1267127192330346500: I've read that the building on fire on the left side was a low-income housing project, I don't know that that's true. The "Midtown Corner" development, retail on bottom floor and 189 low income apartments.
Of the 189, reports have been that 2 dozen were reserved for people earning below 60% of the median income for the region (about $50,000 annually for a couple), the remainder for people earning up to 80% of the area median (Area median for a couple for 2020 is $82,720, HUD AMI table for Minneapolis-St. Paul-Bloomington is here: https://nwhomepartners.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/2020-AMI-chart-1-2048x1227.jpg ) Funny (in a crying way), how the Wuhan virus concern trolls ("It's Black Death II, I tell you - repent!"), folks who at length argued that a forever lock down was written explicitly into the Constitution or couldn't be challenged regarding it because they A. Had lost all 27 of their parents to the virus or B. Had a sister who worked in an ER who had to wear a mask fashioned out of bailing wire and cheesecloth, haters, how all of these folks vanished from the comments once "mostly peaceful" folks started destroying, burning, stealing, and killing out of sadness regarding the death of a black man at the hands of police in a town in a state where everyone from the dog-catcher to the governor is a flaming %$#@ing leftist. Funny enough to the point of needing a Kleenex.
Case in point is my MN sister-in-law who pivoted seamlessly from full-on Karenwaffe membership over COVID to joining the Floyd protests (only during daylight before retreating to her safe suburban home, of course). I'm sure she voted for the ineffectual duo of Frey and Walz (don't want any of those icky Republicans in office!) and will do so again.
QUOTE: full-on Karenwaffe membership Thanks, I needed that! The very depressing part of wanting to live as a free man, is the sheer number of folks that don’t want to. How else to explain the continual voting for failed policies and leftist ideology. No matter how many examples are there to see, a huge chunk of the population votes for big and ever more intrusive government, and blames everything - especially in fifty year democrat controlled cities - on the political party with no power. Disgusting. Disturbing. Infuriating.
did you volunteer to contract the virus or help spread it to achieve herd immunity?
it's got to be one or the other. amirite? re Car full of white people gets caught handing bricks to group of young black men to throw.
There was also this: The guy on the left went to Princeton as an undergrad and he didn’t consider for a second that he might appear on one of the thousands of surveillance cameras throughout the city? He was the driver, she actually threw the Molotov cocktail: "Mattis graduated from NYU School of Law in 2016 and received his bachelor’s degree from Princeton, is accused of driving a van while a passenger, who is an attorney in New York state, threw a Molotov cocktail toward an unoccupied NYPD vehicle" https://twitchy.com/gregp-3534/2020/05/31/cops-use-surveillance-footage-to-nab-two-lawyers-who-firebombed-nypd-van/ Maybe one of them was Hugh Fussbudget-Thomas. Be outta of the clink in nanoseconds with that Jeffersonian intellect.
feeb! the moastest honest name on the farm.
I'm going to wreck your day by telling you this, but the babylon bee is a satire newsite -- no, don't weep openly, it'll all work out. Your welcome. PS, did you volunteer to contract the virus or are you helping spread it to achieve herd immunity? just wondering. re YOU CAN’T LOOT US, WE’RE PROGRESSIVES!
The inability of progressives to see pass their ideology is truly mind boggling. Just had to turn off CNBC which had been my regular morning audio background. First it was astronauts talking about how its all one world from where ever. Then that world salad tosser from Service Now, a business I guess. Did you know its all about work flow? Limp lettuce. Finally Sean Penn, from is CD library no less. Did he say "we" need equity?
For this I can watch local news. I'm seeing a number of folks changing their facebook profile shots to blackness.
Nice they're bothering to support the barbarians that want to turn civilization's lights off... I noticed that, too. In a way, it's perfect. Allows me to clean up my 'friends' list.
A Lt. Gen. Russel Honore, Ret. goes on CNN and implies Trump will nuke rioting cities.
https://twitter.com/RealSaavedra/status/1267621719868444672 Red meat for the Trump haters. Who else is going to believe it? [i]Let me be clear about one thing: People are more important than property. Black Lives do Matter," Governor Roy Cooper of North Carolina declared.[i]
Then I shall reply in kind: my property is more valuable than any politician’s life. |
