Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Saturday, May 23. 2020Pray for the victims of the lockdowns tooIn the rush to care for patients with COVID-19, are we forgetting the millions of victims of government shutdowns? Some random estimates are that up to 1/3 of American small businesses will go bankrupt or completely out of business. Sounds as extreme as 2.2 million deaths, but we'll see. That's the heartbeat of America. Not to mention suicides and substance abuse with broken hopes and dreams. "They" offered 2 weeks of shutdown - almost national - to "flatten the curve." People went along with that, although it really was appropriate mainly to NYC and the NY metro area. Whether that worked or not we'll never know, but viruses pass through and curve down anyway. It is their natural course so no policy can take much credit for that. What ensued is that the goalposts moved, and keep moving. We can pray for the dead and their families, but let's remember the lives destroyed by COVID hysteria. In the end, if there is an end, that could be more people and more despair. Somebody needs to write the book. If I had the time, the ability to write snappy prose, and the research energy that I had in college, I would do it. Right now, I am trying to keep our business on life support. I am not optimistic.

We have seen the ready willingness of public safety employees to turn on fellow Americans.
Some Sheriffs and local law enforcement entities have rejected and repudiated the tyranny but the vast majority are fully prepared to do whatever the state compels them to do. Americas greatest threat is from within, it is the state, judiciary, legislative and executive have subjugated individual rights and the Constitution to ad hoc improvisation. break out the imaginary rifles and pretend molotov cocktails, the gubmint is trying to make us wear masks.
"People went along with that".
It is a classic case of how absolute power corrupts absolutely. We let the camel's nose under the tent and now everyday is Hump day. We need law suits and clear answers from the courts. We need the courts to affirm our constitutional rights and we need the politicians to shape up or get the hell out of office. Some police and sheriffs have acted deplorably and they should pay with their jobs. Some entire law enforcement departments have acted inappropriately and it will take years before they gain back the confidence of the public. Use this disaster as an opportunity to recognize those politicians and LEOs who need to be kicked out and never allowed to get near the reins of power again. +1 The lockdowns may be winding down (most places), but the idea that the state has the power to do such a thing remains in our heads.
I don't know if there's any connection with the bankruptcies caused by the lock-down, but communism does not permit the existence of small business. Everything is owned by the State, and they decide who gets a job. So if all the small businesses go under, then the only remaining employers will be the government. They will "rescue" companies by providing loans based on the condition that all federal laws are complied with. And those anti-discrimination laws mean that small business owners will no longer free to make hiring decisions. If a small business needs people, it will be provided with a list of "recommended" candidates, by a local Political Officer.
https://www.edd.ca.gov/jobs.htm https://edd.ca.gov/Jobs_and_Training/Local_Workforce_Development_Area_Equal_Opportunity_Officers_Listing.htm The sad truth is that America has been taken over by communists. They are vicious, they own the Police, and they will put you in jail, or kill you if you don't hire who they say; pay money to who they say; and agree with what they say. Read this: We’ve all heard young people ask why certain things must be done. And we are all familiar with responses like “because it’s the law” or “because that’s how society works.” Those phrases, however, are untrue. The honest answer to such questions is “because violent people demand it.” Almost no one pays taxes willingly; they pay because they’ll be punished if they do not comply, ultimately including armed men and jail cells. The same goes for every state order, from building permits to stop signs: Comply or face punishments, ending in violence." https://freemansperspective.com/calling-things-true-names/ What we are really talking about here is not communism; it's feminism. Read this: Feminism will ultimately fail for the same reason that socialism always fails: it has absolutely no understanding of human nature, and it is utterly impervious to economic reality. But, like socialism, it will wreak enormous damage on its way to cultural and political disaster. [urlhttps://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2016/07/feminism_attacks_at_all_levels.html[/url] Remember: State Agents are immune from Prosecution. So don't even think about trying to fire one of them. https://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/teen-center-california-police-sex-scandal-sues-city-article-1.2796026 Mao said it more succinctly:
"Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun." (...and they wonder why the 2nd Amendment) All the big box stores have been allowed to stay open, as essential business. Where does 90% of the stuff they sell come from?

I think that was a mis-spelling BD. Didn't you mean "troll"?
I'm not zach, I'm the guy who kicks sand in your face.
Paranoid much? Where is my post? Another riff lost in space, like the tree falling in the forest. I was front running all these Stanford guys, and I am not home on full boat.
