We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
I don't want to be a conspiracy theorist... But the governors of a dew states are acting conspiratorial. Michigan for sure, Washington and California too. Not to be left out the mayor of Chicago has usurped the constitution to "take" powers never accorded to mayors. I do believe that in a legitimate state of emergency that both the federal and the state governments can temporarily make some demands that would never be allowed otherwise. But I also believe that whatever actions they take have to make sense and have to directly deal with the emergency at hand. I am just not sure that many/most of their actions even fit this criteria. AND if they did I am also not sure that there is a legitimate emergency at this time, except perhaps in NY and NJ. It is rapidly approaching the time to bring out the guillotines and make sure they are oiled up and functioning. I think that the governors have stepped over the line and need to take a few steps back and apologize to their citizenry.
