We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
I'm 82 and self-isolating.
Sometimes push ups on my decks when the sun is shining which is rare in North Georgia recently.
Walking in my home. 14 steps down to my basement and 4 steps up to my hall. So far, about 8 times two times a day.
Some exercise lifting a wine glass before going to bed.
trying to run every other day thru a cranky hamstring. Doing some biking (one benefit of less than normal traffic is its better for road biking).
Challenged a few of my adult nephews to do a "Murph" workout if/when we get together around July 4 (we won't be ready for the traditional Memorial Day), so building up the pullup, squat, pushup reps for that.
Cleared irrigation ditches then tube irrigating. Spray/hoe/pick weeds on 20 acres. Plant garden. Will be culling 10 Cornish cross chickens tomorrow. Tractor down so using wheelbarrow to haul gravel, compost. Take the 3 pups for walk perimeter of property. Nothin too stressful.
Got on the bike yesterday for first time in over two months (had eye surgery in late Feb and couldn’t do anything physical for several weeks). Not too far or fast but my middle son (20) rode with me and that was so nice, we used to bike together more when he was younger and then that just kind of stopped around age 13 ... it’s the little things that matter.
Lunges, step-ups, wall squats, Hindu squats, pushups, wide pushups, Hindu pushups. I bought some bands and use those for back and arm workouts. Jump rope for a few minutes every day, trying to build up my skill level after years of not doing it. Daily bike ride 5 to10 miles.
Oh, you guys. in 40 days I'll be 80. My exercise is doing recliner push-backs several times a day when Granny sez go do this, come get this, help me with this, or even take out the trash. Sometimes I'll even lift the glass with Smirnoff, take a sip or two, then set it down. Geeeez, Life is hard in the fast lane.
Occasionally I'll even pick up the Bible and study for my finals.
Ya'll be good and keep up with those routines. Enjoy while you can because the end is nearer than you might think.
