Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Rutgers prof: 'F*ck each and every Trump supporter'
I could say the same about Rutgers professors. Sometimes you need to go to war with the president you've got. Predictably, her comments begin with the words "I feel..."
Others are welcome to take guesses at what subjects she teaches. Hint: she's not an engineer. Coincidentally, two friends from college days ended up teaching at Rutgers. Haven't talked with them in nearly 40 years, though.
re Giant Asteroid Zooms by Earth at 19,000 MPH
The asteroid came within 3.9 million miles of the planet at 5:56 a.m. EDT, according to The Independent. So we missed a collision by 58.5 hours? Is that right? That does seem pretty close. Small in solar system terms maybe, but about 16 times the distance to the moon, so....
At least they have it mapped. It's the other ones that are worrisome. We know that there is a planet killer out there with Earth's name on it. It will happen and it won't (probably won't) be announced once it is discovered. Why would they tell us? At most they could have a day or two advance notice of a sure hit by a asteroid large enough to wipe out most life on earth. So why would any responsible world leader tell the people? There isn't a place to hide and more likely humans would use those last few hours to create mayhem. The point I'm making is there is literally no reason to be concerned about asteroids because it isn't going to matter.
Eating meat may IMPROVE mental health and one in three vegetarians are depressed, study claims
I'd be depressed if I couldn't eat bacon. Explosive New Flynn Documents Show FBI Goal Was To ‘Get Him Fired’. Handwritten notes from the FBI that had been withheld from Michael Flynn and his defense team show that the FBI's goal in investigating and ambushing Flynn was 'to get him fired.' Hopefully the tipping point that gets people to look at Crossfire Hurricane and Mueller in a different light. "Children are not at risk... and not carriers"
This contradicts what every parent knows. If you have children you go through about 4-6 times a year where everyone in the family is sick. Usually a cold or something a little worse than a cold. If you do not have children you are blissfully unaware of this fact unless one of your parent friends tells you about it. Children catch everything and they bring it home so that the family can share. There is a famous story about LBJ, telling his Texas campaign manager to spread a story about his opponent having carnal knowledge of barnyard critters. Supposedly his manager protested that they could never get his opponent to admit to being a pigf**r "I don't want him to admit it" said Lyndon, "I want to make the sumbitch deny it!".
That's what needs to happen with all the #MeToo groups that somehow can't find their voice right now. A phony spokesperson for every one of these groups needs to stand up in front of the press gaggle and denounce Biden for the Tara Reade sexual assault and all of his serial gropings, just to make the sumbitches deny it. The time is really ripe for some guerilla tactics on these closed-rank Progressive edifices. "f*ck each and every Trump supporter."
Thanks for the offer, Brittany, but I'm definitely going to pass. She also stated that it is Trumps fault for black female obesity! And people wonder what is wrong with our universities? I had no idea that there were no fat black females, before TRUMP!
She at least looks like she could keep you warm on a cold winter night.
Trump's great economy, up to the coronavirus, meant black women could enjoy a lot more soul food, or Cheetos and Pepsi. So, yes, you could say Trump is responsible. The adults in the room wouldn't, but a Gender Studies professor would have no trouble with it. Climate Cultist Calls Michael Moore’s Film Dangerous, Wants It Censored: Of COURSE he does!
Rutgers prof: 'F*ck each and every Trump supporter': Of COURSE he does! Democrats ramp up demand for massive bailout of state and local governments: Of COURSE they do! Why Have Women’s Groups Gone Dead Silent On Biden Sex-Assault Accusation? They're Dems, the lot of them. Can't harsh Joe's mellow, now can they? Unsealed FBI Handwritten Notes, Emails Reveal Agents Plotted Perjury Trap On Flynn: Surprahz...oh why am I kidding. Former FBI General Counsel James Baker Has Flipped! Durham is Building Conspiracy Case on All of Those Who Lied to the Court! Well, sounds good, but we'll see...eventually. Georgia reopening state is terrible, but Colorado doing the same is ignored: Is anyone surprised???? The left's 'listen to the science' mantra is growing old. Trump listened, and that's the problem. It's SUCH a BUMMER when that happens. On FOX right now they are talking about reopening (which I am for). The question posed is should the government allow businesses to reopen. Now keep in mind that it is a five way split screen with everyone in their basement because they don't want to come into the studio. And one of the talking heads says "the government can't stop us... yadda, yadda, yadda". But if he really believed that he would be there at the studio not hiding in the basement. Why is it I get the feeling what he really means is "all you people get back to work and let's see what happens and I'll watch from the safety of my fully stocked house to see how that goes."
On that note why isn't congress in session? If my local Walmart employees can all show up to work why can't congress. AND if there are laws being written in the mean time, who is writing them??? Walmart employees are probably more essential.
Congress ran away while Trump and his administration stayed and fought the virus. Congress is still hiding. No mainline news source will cover Congress’ cowardice.
R: Eating meat:
I eat cows. Cows eat grass. Ergo, I am a vegetarian. I also eat (and love) vegetables which proves my point. Also, Burger King brags that they can make grass taste like meat. Hell, cows have been doing that forever. re David Warren:
Another quote from Warren's piece. QUOTE: For all our medical hubris, we are more or less defenceless. A vaccine or some therapeutics may reduce the toll slightly, during a wave, as it does with conventional influenzas each year, but we’ve never had much luck with vaccines against coronaviruses, and are at sea on much physiology. Some die, others live, because individual immune responses are widely variable; we haven’t learnt much except in our imaginations. When we learn more against the last Sars we may know more about the next one, but again, maybe not. Yes. We are defenseless against the spread of germs. It's going to happen no matter who is in charge or how smart they are. So why compound the problem by crushing the economy and wrecking the lives of millions. It's only going to make it worse in the long run. Well, yes and no. There was some value in trying to flatten the curve early on because our hospitals were not ready and if hospitals become overwhelmed many more people will die who could have been saved.
One counter argument to this is that people die anyway so why harm the economy? But it misses the real point of overwhelmed hospitals. Doctors and nurses are human and if they had to face that choice literally where they push a sick person into the hallway to die slow and agonizingly while they choose someone else to live that a the end of their shift or the end of their week it would harm them, change them perhaps forever. AND maybe even more significantly everyone would lose faith in the hospitals, doctors and government. To some extent this happened in NY City. For some reason it is not getting a full hearing by the press but the city sent people to die in nursing homes AND they knew it would kill others in the nursing homes who did not yet have the disease AND now they are making it their plan to go after the nursing homes and the care givers as though somehow it was their fault. Before this is over there will be lawyers getting rich and people going to jail and most likely it will be all the wrong people. And that is just a tiny sample of what overwhelming the system does. It could be (and may well have been) worse. When we open up the country there will be a second wave of deaths and I do expect that other cities, other hospitals will be overwhelmed and more unnecessary deaths will occur. Followed by more lawsuits, more finger pointing and scapegoats. We are still not really ready for a pandemic. "When we open up the country there will be a second wave of deaths..."
Keep hope alive! https://wattsupwiththat.com/daily-coronavirus-covid-19-data-graph-page/#001
Take a look at the graphs of the death distribution by counties.

The simple explanation is certain places like NY were heavily "invaded" by people who had Covid-19. Most of the U.S. was not. The quarantine/shutdown kinda froze that situation and thus the deaths were mostly where the sick people were walking around and mingling with the locals. Once the country is opened up people will travel more and mingle again and eventually the virus will get everywhere and kill .1-.3% of those infected. We have to wait a year to 18 months to know the full effect of this virus.
