Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

“Elites go to war on homeschooling” What’s happening in Americ schools now is certainly not homeschooling. No parent is making lesson plans, buying books, or even teaching anything. At best they are monitoring their kids while they play video games on their school-supplied Chromebooks. Many of them can’t even manage that.
My wife is a 1st/2nd grade teacher. She spends more time now “teaching” than she did 2 months ago. She signs in every morning at 7:30 and I usually have to drag her away at 10 every night. She answeres emails from kids and parents and has to call the parents whose kids are doing nothing. She still has one kid who has yet to log onto their Chromebook. You might like "Fourth Watch" by Steve Krakauer (former CNN guy). Focused on Media Bias. This morning he takes on the Hydroxy fake news story. https://mailchi.mp/thefirsttv/fourth-watch-apr-23?e=05c8dff657 Re: John Durham expands investigative team amid coronavirus outbreak
Wake me when he announces indictments. It's worth saying every time, mudbug, even if it is repetitive. Comey already tried the method of condemning Hillary's actions in the strongest possible manner but stopping short of the magic words that would lead to indictment. It was rapidly ignored, dismissed as no big deal.
Not only that but I think several months ago, I heard that Durham was expanding his team because of an ever-widening investigation. It may be true and Durham is probably the attack dog it is said that he is, but I've gotten excited over and over again when the Republicans ran the Intelligence Committee. They released criminal referrals, damning reports, and plainly explained malfeasance from the FBI and DOJ and it came to very little. When something real happens, like an indictment, then there will be time to get excited then.
Without Indictment there can be no Excitement, and if it's only Small Fishes, we don't gets our Wishes.
It was dismissed on the left as no big deal, but I've honestly never been sure whether it didn't cost her the election. It was awfully close, and Comey got the attention of some people who'd been tuning the issue out.
A fair point. That is worth a great deal if that's the case.
The Wuhan Virus Pandemic has Exposed the American Ruling Class
https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2020/04/the_wuhan_virus_pandemic_has_exposed_the_american_ruling_class.html #1: The "Elites" are running scared.
Elites go to war on homeschooling — just when everyone’s doing it: Democrats do dat! Media Push Fake News About FDA Official Supposedly Fired Over Opposing Hydroxychloroquine, Then the Real Story Comes Out: It’s almost like The New York Times is nothing but a partisan gossip rag. THAT's because it IS. How Adam Schiff secretly thwarted efforts to bring transparency in Russia probe: It's past time for Mr. Trump to get out his Hercules outfit and divert the Potomac River thru D.C. and rebuild it in Lower Slobovia. " (EPA) rolled back Obama-era fuel economy standards projected to add nearly $3,000 to the cost of a new car."
If you mean pollution controls, necessary for our children. My electric car is good for my children and my neighbors children (Just stand at a stop light and smell the gas cars; your children breathe this.) Yes, I know that electric cars displace to the source of energy production. But that is flexible; if it is gas powered now, it can be more easily changed to wind or solar (as it is in Bay area.). E.g. I have solar panels to charge my car. easy choice So you have a feel-good electric car and solar panels. But you are probably still connected to the grid...so how is PG&E treating you these days?
What is the environmental impact of making the batteries in your car? How about the motors? Solar panels? It's not zero.
Please watch Michael Moore's new movie. Even he gets it now.
mmmm, I wonder what they do with all those batteries when they stop working??
I expect you’re just a green energy troll but if you really are who you say you are then what you mean is that your electric car is polluting someone else’s neighborhood which is all you care about. If you can charge it with solar cells it just means you don’t drive it much.
It is literally impossible to replace every ICE (internal combustion engine) with an electric engine, batteries and associated necessities. The ONLY thing that makes an electric care possible is seriously harmful mining methods, construction of dangerous components in a country with very lax pollution and safety rules and massive subsidies to make them even close to affordable. Your electric car has already created more pollution when you buy it new than a conventional gasoline powered car does in it's entire lifetime. But that is just the beginning because your electric care needs to be charged and that pollutes. And when your batteries are scrapped there is a monetary cost to that, that you won't pay AND a pollution costs as well. In a science based world the available electric car technology would be banned.
