John Prine was admitted to the hospital last week with a suspected heart attack and had ongoing serious cardiac issues. Was his death caused by Covid-19 or something totally unrelated? Is it possible that he died of coronary issues and just happened to have the virus at the same time?

Apparently, anyone who dies these days is almost automatically diagnosed as having died from Covid-19. This skews the numbers and prevents us from getting a true picture of the mortality of the disease.

In any case, John Prine was an American treasure and we will miss him and his truly down-home music. Hope all his dreams in his one of his latest songs, "When I get to Heaven" come true.

John Prine's death is a great loss. That leaves Bonnie Koloc as the last one standing of The Earl of Oldtown's (Chicago) "Trinity" which also included Steve Goodman, "City of New Orleans." Saw them twice @ 1970.
I'm seeing some discontent on websites over the belief that the HSS is finagling the covid mortality rate. It does appear that the US is inflating deaths while Europe is under reporting. I would rather have an accurate record that reflects the uncertainty on the ground. I would count deaths with comorbidities as covid. However, Id include a subset of covid deaths in which the comorbitities are severe enough to be life threatening, in which case its anybody's guess whether the patient died "with or from covid". Id have another category of suspected covid deaths. The thing is, we only get one chance to get this right, we cant go back and fix erroneous records.

Looks like there are too many strings attached to make this work. Anyway, most small businesses are servicing debt without income as it is. They don't need more debt. They need income.

The biggest feature in common between the Biden and Kavanaugh #MeToo farces is the dramatic hypocrisy on the part of the kabuki actors. But something else is missing in the Biden accusation, that was present with Kavanaugh campaign: A series of further accusations, timed for release for maximum dramatic effect, all quickly dis-proven when the women were proven to be flakes and the stories didn't hang together. The Blasey-Ford accusation should have been quickly disproven too, but one must take into account that the media has a leading role as one of the kabuki actors. The only honest thing that one can say about the whole affair is that, if it did happen, Biden doesn't remember it.

I went to Costco, wearing a mask, and my glasses fogged up.
Took them off, put them in my jacket pocket. And while in the checkout line, my nose started running, and my wife's nose did too.

Hospital administrators unprepared...Until they are held accountable they will never be prepared or at the least improve their preparedness. There needs to be a change at the hospital level where preparedness items are stored on site rather than sit in a federal warehouse unused and ignored and likely poorly inventoried. Having been a member of CERT we would get masks from the local hospital that had expired. Work with manufacturers and legislators to improve the elastic straps and extend the expiration date out 4-5 years to cut ridiculous waste. Do the same thing with extending expiration of drugs. There are numerous changes that could be made to cut waste that drive costs through the roof. But you need actual administrators and other public SERVANTS that take the job seriously.

Isn't rule number one of feminism: Men are evil. They need to be eliminated, or at the very least, castrated? For this harpy hypocrite to now claim, I didn't know metoo would destroy innocent men, shows what a short sighted nincompoop she is. Once more: feminism does not care about the innocent man. Feminism needs to destroy all men, at all costs!

Foggy Glasses ...

I bought a WWII gas mask in the mid-fifties
The instructions to keep the celluloid lenses clear were:

1. Wet some bar soap (Ivory for example)
2. Rub the thick paste onto the inside of the lens.
3. Let it dry
4. Now polish, gently with dry towel.

Worked back then, should work now.

I was in the 8th grade and was so naive that in my mind there was zero doubt that Apollo 13 would make it safely home. I viewed all the ensuing problems that cropped up after the explosion to be trivial matters being sensationalized by the media to draw ratings.

It was years later before I realized how close those men came to dying.

It was indeed NASA’s finest hour.
