Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Filling out some paperwork for the Boss. Two companies, list employee FTE.
"You did it wrong. You're not supposed to combine companies." I didn't. This company has x, and if you would have bothered to look at the paper, the other one has Y. "Really! That many people I'm looking down on as Not very important to my world." Now take that to the State & governors level. They have NO CLUE the details of what peoples lives actually are, and being destroyed. Report is that the local hospital is mostly empty. Everything regular was canceled to make way for all the covids which don't appear to be showing up. That's great news. No serious illness in your area yet. Hope it stays that way. Maybe the shutdown is working as they hoped it would.
Or, and, much more likely, the whole "sky is falling!" the reaction is MADE UP and RAMPED UP-----for the purpose of getting DJT out of office!
I doubt that. Right now England and France are having record death rates from Covid-19. Do you really think some anti-Trump conspirators are killing them?
The "free press" has been a propaganda organ of the Left for roughly 50 years now — it's nothing new.
Do a search for Spanish American War + propaganda; i.e. the injection of "yellow journalism" into our political system. Many, many anti-Constitutional Acts and Amendments were passed once the media took sides.
re Department Of Transportation Will Make Airlines Offer Refunds For Cancelled Flights
That's flights mind you, not trips canceled because of The Virus. Wife and I have a trip canceled, but since the flight is still available they get to keep our money as an interest free loan, until we decide to fly somewhere in the distant future. It's BS. The B&B we had booked asked us to pay them even though we had to cancel for "future credit" on a stay, but we can't be making interest free loans to everyone, particularly if the B&B isn't in business when we travel there the next time. Last night, the young lady that owns the hair salon here in town called at 10 minutes to 10 to see if I wanted to come in for a haircut scheduled for next week. She was told to close at 10 pm and not to reopen until May 11. Maybe. Her business doesn't make the kind of money that allows her to make mortgage payments with no income. She is looking to see what she qualifies for under the stimulus, but I doubt she does as well as the airlines. I hope this thing doesn't ruin her. The irony is there haven't even been any cases where I live. It's BS. If your employer is a taxpayer funded entity, this shutdown is no big deal and you can afford to advocate for it. You are in no danger of losing your paycheck. If you are an entrepreneur, or working in the private sector this could be a financially devastating as well as a life changing event. While I agree with your points I do feel that you missed something important. That is if there had been no shutdown that young lady in the hair salon would still be in trouble. People are choosing to not go to appointments and they were doing that before Gov Cuomo locked things down. This is going to be an economic disaster but it won't simply be true because of what the government did or didn't do. If they end the shutdown today I still won't go get my hair cut or touch a shopping cart or buy any fast food.
That's true. IdahoBob. There would, and has been be a real decline in her business. People are being panicked here as well. However, some people still choose to do business with her and a percentage of one's business is better than no business at all.
I was gifted a printed sub to WaPo.
Now I wonder, do any WaPo printers or other employees have the virus? What anti-virus precautions does WaPo take? Is the virus being delivered to my door? Yes, the virus comes to you direct from the WaPo on the pages of the paper. Your job is to set it on fire.
Don't bother to thank me - New Wyoming Law Lets Local Ranchers Sell Cuts of Meat Directly to Consumers
https://reason.com/2020/04/04/novel-new-wyoming-law-lets-local-ranchers-sell-cuts-of-meat-directly-to-consumers/ Not sure this is a "game changer" as the article suggests, as I don't know how deep the market is for this, but deregulation is a good thing. The way it works now, I can sell a cow to someone and haul it to the processor for them, but I can't have that same cow processed and sell the meat to that same person. The customer has to take the whole animal. With all the online learning going on, there's no need for diversity deans anymore.
What makes you think the internet isn't racist? Or rather, subject to re-interpretation as an instrument of the white male patriarchy? The diversity deans and feminism queens will still be there, I think it's just that the online customers will not be under such personal pressure to conform and agree. It's a good thing!
