We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
One of our sons and his family were skiing in Breckenridge for a much anticipated spring break family vacation. Up until the Vail properties closed all their ski slopes. The resort worked with them some but another resort where they were going to go after another day is balking at refunding their money/points earned even though the virus is wrecking their plans. Will they be able to get a partial refund on an expensive season ski pass they bought in anticipation of the trip to Colorado, I certainly hope so. Supposedly some of the cases in the ski counties are from some guy that visited Italy before going skiing around Colorado when he was supposed to be self quarantined. Is that story true, I don't know but it wouldn't surprise me as many people think only of themselves and not others. Our other son and his family were supposed to go there next week but their spring break is also kaput.
Wife's son flew to Colorado to ski Arapahoe Basin and Winter park over the weekend. By Saturday night all the slopes were closed for fear of the corona virus, according to him. He was ticked. Flew to Colorado so he could ski for 6 hours.
We cancelled our Spring Break trip on Friday. Had we not, we would have heard the news of Breck and others closing somewhere on I-70 heading west. I'm more upset about missing out on some planned fly fishing than I am about missing skiing. But that is just me.
