We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

It would be nice to say: That's not just mis-remembering, that's full-scale making-it-up, with details. She's such a nice lady. but in truth I think she's probably remembering the MERS epidemic of 2012. So I'll just say that she's senile.

Choosing not to vote: it's my hope that anyone capable of reasoning this way does in fact continue not to vote. If he can convince his readers to go along with his reasoning, so much the better.

It's a lot like the reasoning that persuades people not to marry or reproduce: a self-limiting problem.

I don't think Slow Joe has a prayer of getting elected. However, I'm increasingly convinced that at the convention — assuming he doesn't start drooling in public — he'll be paired with a hard-Left female VP candidate. The idea will be that if Joe should get elected, he'll quickly be Amendment 25'd out of office, and the Left will then resume in full force its war against Normal Americans.

Joe will win. Democrats will steal the election. Joe's running mate must be a far left woman of color, perhaps Stacy Abrams. Within 6 months of his election He will make an announcement that due to serious health issues he must step down and that will give us an unelected and unelectable far left nut who will make Obama the second worst president in our history.

The author doesn't say how we should "crush" it. Should we quarantine the entire country like the Chinese did in Wuhan but on a national scale?

There are indications that this virus may be no more dangerous than the yearly flu. Are draconian efforts really called for?

I remember the SARS panic. IIRC, SARS infected about 8,000 people and killed about 800, mostly in China. Many died from what we would consider easily treatable secondary infections but in China they weren't treated. If the virus doesn't kill you some opportunistic germ may.

The criticism of great wealth is always from those who would take it and or have the government take it. I do not begrudge a person who through their own effort becomes wealthy. However I am very concerned about the many career politicians who started off in middle class and are now wealthy. If we are going to have a just nation than we need to investigate politicians and high level government people who parley their position into great wealth. It is literally impossible for the Clintons to have honestly and legally become as rich as they are. Ditto for the Obama's, although in all fairness his dishonesty and money problems did become public knowledge before we elected him. We must truly be stupid to elect a politician extorting contractors with the promise of using their office in exchange for something of value. But Obama magically gets a $60 million (I don't know the actual number just rumors since the press covers for him) advance for his book. A book he won't write and very few will read. Does it take a jurisprudence degree to figure out this is payola for some favor he did for them while he was president?

IMHO the only two politicians I really believe are honest as of today are Trump and Devin Nunes. There may be others but these two stand out.
