We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

It sound's like a potentially devastating story here - What a remarkable piece of under-reporting by the BBC.

1. Are Universities obligated by law to report (and what law is it)?
2. The Dept. of Education is investigating - Is it the IRS that would claim rights of audit on them if investigation is warranted, i.e. is this a tax regulation issue?
3. Where is the money being spent? (I guess we can rule out Conservative Studies programming.)

Section 117 of the Higher Education Act requires colleges and universities that receive federal aid to report gifts from, and contracts with, any foreign source that exceed $250,000 in value and to disclose any foreign ownership or control twice each year.

IMHO every tax exempt or tax favored organization should make 100% of their finances public or lose their special status. Not just their donations but every penny they spend and who gets it. It is in the public interest that none of this remains secret.

The whole point about Communists is they pretend not to be, until they get into power. They never use the term communist openly, they always claim they are just "socialists," which is the same thing when you examine how they define it, as in Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.

The Seattle city council has been taken over by recent immigrants. Why should this matter, you ask? It wouldn't if they were like a lot of immigrants who are happy to be in America and love what it stands for. But these are activists whose goal is to open the borders and bring in more immigrants (each hoping for more from their country) so that it will give them even more power over this country. Far too many immigrants anymore are not coming to become Americans but rather to advocate for taking over America. And most native Americans are blissfully unaware.

IMHO what we are setting ourselves up for with this massive and ever increasing immigration from mostly shithole countries is a civil war. I know! That makes me sound like some nut advocating for a civil war. But it is the exact opposite, because I think that a civil war will come and that it will be the immigrants who instigate it and I am in favor of stopping it. Our current immigration is out of control and much of it is done secretly. Let me give you an example: Let's say that the published number of immigrants from some specific African shithole country is 100,000 a year. So you think, 'well that's not too bad'. But in fact that isn't true. If one of those 100,000 decides to bring in his family after he gets here and gets his green card those additional half dozen or so family members aren't counted. They are a different category. And EVERYONE of those 100,000 immigrants does indeed bring in 10, 20, 30 of his relatives after they get here. And they all go on welfare and our "settled" in some town where no elites live (cause they don't want them). Sooner or later the chickens are going to come home to roost and taxes will need to go up and we will all figure out what has been done to us. But by then it will be too late. Every one of those immigrants and each of their 15 kids and three wives will be on welfare and you won't be able to change the laws. Why? Because they are infiltrating our government and it will soon be 'them' who write and pass and enforce those laws. And THAT is what will cause first outrage, then demonstrations and then violence. But by then it will be too late.

Regarding dr. Peterson, who i have really enjoyed. If these people attack a man for teaching people to love others as I have loved you, and excruciatingly gave up his own life to lead the way, I should not be surprised at some attacking such a kind, reasonable man....but I am.

Why the flirtation with Socialism? I see a couple of reasons. One is laziness. Being told that when you get out of college you will have to fight for your place in the world and work your butt off is scary. They think socialism will take care of them. Note that college students/early 20s kids are the biggest Bernie supporters. The second is envy: people envy the rich and they imagine that socialism is "more fair". Both of these are lies of course.
