We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
I flew from New Orleans into Biloxi MS in 1974 and the pilot was trying to land in a thunderstorm with zero visibility. At about 200 feet altitude you came out of the clouds and could see half a mile or less. But the trees were about 100-120' tall. The first attempt we came in more or less over the runway but at right angles to it and barely above the trees. The second attempt was parallel with the runway but of to the side 200' and we may have touched a few trees with the wheels. After that the Captain came on the speaker and said he was going to circle and wait until the storm passed. A cheer broke out in the cabin.
