We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
You know, I have always been fascinated by Trump Derangement Syndrome. I'll tell you something that happened to me, which might shed a little light on the subject. About ten years ago, I worked for a Country Club, as a manager of the snack bar. Quite often, teenagers who belonged to the club would bring their friends to have lunch, and then go swimming. But once in a while, one of the friends would have an envy attack. He would go to his car, and then dump all of his trash into the parking lot, before leaving. I had to pick up the trash. So I asked some of the young people at the pool why a person would do that, and they said that the Club is seen by many young people as racist, or exclusionary, or only for rich people.
So these angry kids lashed out at what they viewed as a symbol of injustice. Even though all of them came from very good middle class families.
They hated the Country Club for the same reason that they hate President Trump. Anything which is not universal is exclusionary. Some people say the President is too rich, or too elitist, or too bold. But what they really mean is that the President is not committed to socialism. He believes that every person makes his own bed. So people say: How dare you imply that each of us is responsible for what we do? Don't you know that the world is unfair? Only a cold, bloodless capitalist would fail to empathize with the misery of the masses.
So young people today have been conditioned to believe that we are all victims of injustice. How shall they fix that problem? First, by identifying reactionaries, such as men like President Trump, who believe that problems can be resolved through mutual goodwill; not forced redistribution of wealth. So he's an evil man. And second, by teaching that hatred is the most useful tool for people who are really committed to the cause.
Hatred and Sin and Fraud and Envy are foundations of communism. They can't offer success, so they offer brotherhood. Just don't hold any opinion that deviates from the party line.
