Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

The President of the United States takes pride in presenting the MEDAL OF HONOR posthumously to
CORPORAL TONY STEIN UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS RESERVE for service as set forth in the following CITATION: For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while serving with Company A, 1st Battalion, 28th Marines, 5th Marine Division, in action against enemy Japanese forces on Iwo Jima, in the Volcano Islands, 19 February 1945. The first man of his unit to be on station after hitting the beach in the initial assault, Cpl. Stein, armed with a personally improvised aircraft-type weapon, provided rapid covering fire as the remainder of his platoon attempted to move into position. When his comrades were stalled by a concentrated machinegun and mortar barrage, he gallantly stood upright and exposed himself to the enemy's view, thereby drawing the hostile fire to his own person and enabling him to observe the location of the furiously blazing hostile guns. Determined to neutralize the strategically placed weapons, he boldly charged the enemy pillboxes 1 by 1 and succeeded in killing 20 of the enemy during the furious single-handed assault. Cool and courageous under the merciless hail of exploding shells and bullets which fell on all sides, he continued to deliver the fire of his skillfully improvised weapon at a tremendous rate of speed which rapidly exhausted his ammunition. Undaunted, he removed his helmet and shoes to expedite his movements and ran back to the beach for additional ammunition, making a total of 8 trips under intense fire and carrying or assisting a wounded man back each time. Despite the unrelenting savagery and confusion of battle, he rendered prompt assistance to his platoon whenever the unit was in position, directing the fire of a half-track against a stubborn pillbox until he had effected the ultimate destruction of the Japanese fortification. Later in the day, although his weapon was twice shot from his hands, he personally covered the withdrawal of his platoon to the company position. Stouthearted and indomitable, Cpl. Stein, by his aggressive initiative sound judgment, and unwavering devotion to duty in the face of terrific odds, contributed materially to the fulfillment of his mission, and his outstanding valor throughout the bitter hours of conflict sustains and enhances the highest traditions of the U.S. Naval Service. Two videos that tell the story well. https://cdrsalamander.blogspot.com/2020/01/fullbore-friday_17.html Democrats move to crush small business: Damn dumb Dems!
Erdoğan's 'Make-Turkey-More-Islamic' Campaign Is a Failure: This is encouraging. Democrats move to crush small businesses:
This is what Democrats do. The Democrats have destroyed numerous large cities in America most recently Baltimore. Baltimore is a beautiful city graced with a beautiful harbor and access to great seafood. It is a place that could be the Paris of America but in fact it is bunghole for America tying for that honor with San Francisco and Detroit. It suffered from a terrible "one, two" punch; Democrat politicians and diversity (which is our strength). THIS is what Democrats want for the rest of America. Just as socialism levels the economic playing field by pulling everyone into poverty the Democrats want to level the standard of living playing field by making us all live like Baltimore and Detroit. This is what Democrats do and this is what the left has plans to do to you and every American. Well not "every" American, mostly the middle class and poor. The rich will still be protected from all of these terrible changes in their lifestyle. The democrats would use impeachment to get rid of Donald Trump? Who knew! Well, it worked on Nixon. Did you know that Archibald Cox had almost 100 lawyers and investigators investigating Nixon? The Mueller investigation of Trump was really rather feeble in comparison. .
I have this tiny fear in the pit of my stomach, that the RINO’s in the Senate will prevail in accumulating enough votes for a conviction. No more Donald Trump. Please tell me how irrational I am being. Anyone?
My own Congress critter, Jason Crow, an Army Ranger in Gulf War II, has gone full on leftist. He is one of the House Managers for impeachment. He campaigned as a moderate. This is his first two year term. Maybe he was always a lefty (probably), or maybe they got to him. Anything is possible. The problem is the Democrats have a tiger by the tail and can't let go. Here is the downside for them. They fail to have Trump removed, Trump wins the presidency in a landslide and through coattails of Americans tired of this nonsense retakes the House.
The new House and Senate then begin proceedings to expel the failed Trumpicides for such "crimes and high misdemeanors" as the newly invented "obstruction of the presidency," the counterpart of the fictitious crime "obstruction of Congress." In light of the events of the past 4 years, it's pretty amazing how many Americans do not yet understand the meaning of the words "By Any Means Necessary". It should be as plain as the nose on your face by now. "Any" is a great, big word.
Remember that the bar to convict in the Senate is 67. Pelosi only needed a majority to impeach and barely managed that with NO Republicans joining, and two Democrats voting no. She even had that guy from NJ who jumped from the MAJORITY party to the MINORITY party over impeachment.
Beyond Murkowski and 'Pee-Air' Romney it's difficult to see another fifteen Republicans joining the Democrats. Collins from Maine is in a fight this year for reelection and needs GOP support. Manchin and maybe even Doug Jones or Tester from MT might join with the GOP to acquit. I see the biggest issue being the three RINOs, especially Romney, aiding the Democrats in 'dirtying up' Trump by calling more of their 'witnesses' while denying him a sufficient platform to defend himself the same way the House railroaded through this impeachment sham. |
