Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Nancy Pelosi is trying to salvage the victory that at least "impeachment" will always be on Trump's resume. That is true, it will be. It will also always be on hers.
‘Sad’ Pelosi Grins While Signing Impeachment Articles. Internet Explodes Over Her Golden Pens.
https://www.dailywire.com/news/sad-pelosi-grins-while-signing-impeachment-articles-internet-explodes-over-her-golden-pens/ She often sounds incoherent, especially lately, but this performance was beyond weird. If she wasn't drunk, she at least sounded heavily medicated, or demented.
Word has it that Pelosi delayed handing over the articles of impeachment not for political effect, but because the pens were on back order.
They are now playing the same games they played with the Kavanaugh confirmation. Phony accusers coming out of the woodwork claiming they are Trump's closest associates, "evidence" in terms of non-verifiable "notes" that look like they were written by an elementary school student in crayon, all impeccably timed to be leaked out when they can do the most damage and get the most exposure on MSNBC and CNN.
Scientists discover beheaded man's brain self-preserved for 2,600 years
https://www.inverse.com/article/62194-how-an-ancient-human-brain-survived-2600-years The chemophobia problem would quickly resolve itself by exhorting the patients to take the first step to become Chem-Free - by getting rid of the densest assemblages of chemical compounds that are present in their lives - their smart phones and their laptops and their televisions.
Regarding the Circus, some enterprising person is going to lay a soundtrack of Pelosi's solemn words about her sad but unavoidable duties of oath and her heartfelt prayers for the President, over video of her obvious glee signing the Articles with dozens of memento pens, and the triumphant walk through the halls. That would be powerful. There are thousands of books proclaiming that some foods will kill you while others will cure or prevent diseases. Similar books about chemicals and of course vaccinations and other medical practices. In addition there are blogs, opinion writers radio and TV shows and all kinds of "experts" on the dangers of everyday things. Most of those who believe this BS were literally "trained" over years as a child, in school and listening to legitimate news reports and they became extremely susceptible to the hype and lies that are out there everywhere. It is even very likely that MF readers who will laugh at the chemophobia fools also believe some of these popular myths promoted by the scammers and crazy. It is a failing of human nature that they can be seduced by a good argument or convincing speaker even when the truth is so clear and obvious. The stupidity of the masses AND our leaders should not be underestimated.
Tiny, invisible enemies. If it's not demons, it's toxins. Back when the germ theory was first propounded, people were skeptical, but at least its proponents used reproducible experiments to back up their claims. Lately there's too much ignorant hysteria.
Well, the GAO says the OMB violated the law by holding Ukraine funds - let the hyperventilating a la Aliens, "game over. Game OVER MAN!" - begin.
The Dems are pulling out all stops to impeach Trump. But what usually happens after a charge/news release like this is someone looks back and finds that the previous administration did the same thing a few or a few hundred times. It seems logical that the president, whoever that is, should have the right to stop/delay ANY administrative process that would otherwise be implemented without any review or checks and balances, for any reason. Otherwise who is in charge??? Either the chief executive is the chief executive with all the powers to do that job or he is merely a figurehead. Do we really want a legal precedent that would prevent the next president from sending billions off even after suspicion or facts show that the money is going to be stolen or misused?
The Democrats have tried to change the intent of the investigation into Ukraine corruption into "interfering with the election" because THAT would make it look like a political move. BUT in fact there was corruption in the Ukraine and it DID interfere with the 2016 and 2018 election and the DNC, Biden and his son were involved in it. Ukraine is where much of the actual crime took place so logically the president would try to "nudge" the Ukrainian president into investigating it. What else would any honest and pro-American president do in this situation? Surely we would not want the president to ignore this crime and corruption. Professor. Those of us who are older remember when the defining relationship of the university was teacher-student, and we still expect that to be true. Increasingly, the secondary relationship of student-as-customer is taking that over. It has largely already done so with administrators, and it is becoming that way with professors who see that in a declining market, their jobs are at stake.
Student-as-Customer will explain a lot of what goes on. The old rules are gone. That chemical free life can be deadly. In there was a cholera epidemic in Peru. Several south American countries took the environmentalists advice and stopped chlorinating the water because chlorine compounds were supposed to cause stomach cancer among other things. The water supply then became contaminated with Cholera and ten thousand south Americans died, according to the Pan American Health Organization, and more than a million became sick.

Jeffrey Epstein had burst capillaries in his eyeballs after he died which pathologist tells Dr. Oz suggests he was STRANGLED and did not hang himself Dr. Michael Baden was among patholoigsts who examined Epstein's dead body In an interview on The Dr. Oz Show on Thursday, he explains why his death is suspicious Dr. Baden shared never-before-seen photos of Epstein's eyeballs and the burst capillaries in his eye sockets He said they are consistent with manual strangulation and not hanging He also says the bottom of Epstein's legs should have gone purple or maroon if he'd been hanging from his bedpost but they were pale Dr. Baden also says the 'noose' Epstein used is inconsistent with his neck injuries https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7894685/The-burst-capillaries-Epsteins-eyeballs-pathologists-say-suggests-murder.html Oops! That should be, "In 1991 there was a Cholera epidemic".....
There are several problems with the "Trade Deal" that President Trump just signed with China. First of all, it was not made available for public review before it got signed. You can be sure that certain companies are going to reap tremendous rewards.
Secondly, signing a trade deal with China makes no sense. They are invading, and arresting people all over the place. Should we be doing business with people like that? They won't reduce carbon emissions, and they are destroying the oceans, with pollution and over-fishing. The Chinese are the worst. And now, apparently, we're going to pay them to be even more evil. Third, any kind of trade deal with China will accelerate the flight of capital from America to Asia. Older Americans, and big investment firms like Merrill Lynch have abandoned the United States, and poured all of their money into Chinese companies. So China will grow and grow, while America goes bankrupt. Or rather, while America's young people go bankrupt. The whole thing stinks. Time will tell if the deal was written to favor some companies. But even then any trade deal will by definition favor some companies.
There will be trade with China. Even if the U.S. decided today that there would be zero trade it is likely that the next president would reestablish trade. By having a formal agreement we protect our interests. Any trade with any country involves capital changing hands. Even the new and much more favorable North American trade deal gives Mexico an advantage and thus they get more capital. That is what trade does. It would appear that the new China trade deal will reduce that flight of capital AND trade secrets. Of course that depends on China obeying the terms. As for America's young people their biggest risk is immigration legal and illegal AND the many foreign worker scams not just H-1b but all of them. Colleges are the worst offenders in this effort.
