Yah, Joe, that's not how danger analogies actually work. See, the dynamite is already the hazardous thing - it's like hearing you say "Just tossed gasoline on a box of matches"... see - ah forget it. It's going to be a long election season.

Regarding college / minority beneficial wealth effects, well yes debt might be a problem, and so might a changing business world for future employees, but did anyone consider that the past high value of college educations might have derived from the actual learning experience of challenging subject matter, taught in a more strict learning environment? Where one earned the grades awarded and had skills and knowledge to offer? This still happens for focused and dedicated students, but increasingly college has become transitional day care for slackers entering adulthood (see Title IX story, above), and this might be skewing the numbers, eh? Might be worth considering....

Texas just awarded the hero of the Fort Worth church shooting its highest civilian honor. Quite a contrast with Mr. Bloomberg's views, so there's a reason I live in Texas, not New York.

PS, "transitional day care for slackers entering adulthood"--couldn't agree more, Aggie. If you dumb down college enough, you find--amazingly!--that it's just a way to waste time and run up debt. You might as well have used that credit card to spend four years at Club Med.

True, it wasn't his JOB. Bloomie just believes that killers should be allowed to kill anyone they want to, and MAYBE only the police should shoot the killer. Our hero sees that as stupidity illustrated.

Churches in my town have been organizing security forces that look very much like what we learned about the Fort Worth church's. Our recently retired police chief always has carried in services, and has been training with his church's security force to learn from the Fort Worth experience. For instance, he's been telling them someone should have identified the shooter as a problem sooner by his odd behavior, and found a way to isolate him outside the sanctuary full of people before he pulled out a shotgun.

It just seems bizarre that colleges "prosecute" accused sexual misconduct. Should companies prosecute crimes their employees may have committed? It is incredible that no court or legal expert has complained about this. Where is the ACLU?

I wonder if that Fed study corrected for majors. If the mix is shifting from law, Medicine, and Engineering towards psychology, elementary education, and social work, the wealth premium is going to decline on that basis alone.

We've created a plethora of majors that do not prepare the holder for anything other than further study in that area. These by logic should not create a wealth premium over someone who did not pursue such an education.

The 9th circus has decreed that you cannot remove the homeless from camping on public property. What a disaster the 9th circus is. What the cities should do is move the homeless campers to the neighborhoods where the 9th circus judges live.

Here's a suggestion; sell all the public property in the city and let private owners to use the police to enforce their property rights.

People like Bloomberg dismisses what Jack Wilson did because "he shouldn't have had a gun" but they don't consider what would have happened if he didn't. They would apparently been happier if the body count was (much) higher but the church had been a gun free zone.

Talk over them; Talk louder.
mischaracterize what they said and then attack the mischaracterized points.
Call them racist, sexist, bigots, ignorant, old, Boomer.
Have a cheering/jeering crowd to repeat and bolster your mischaracterizations.
Roll your eyes, laugh/smile while they talk.
Wait for that misstatement or unintended slip of the tongue to change the argument into something else.

The BIG clue: “You just do not want the average citizen carrying a gun in a crowded place.” Notice the scorn, the contempt.

The elite regard average citizens as moronic monsters incapable of responsible behavior or logical thinking, pointing to the idiots who vote for them as proof.

Bermuda is a gun-free zone, where Bloomberg has a vacation house. He refused to go, however, until the government amended its laws so the Bloomberg bodyguards could carry guns! Even the police don't carry guns.

He conveniently overlooks the fact that there were at least six "average citizens" carrying guns in "a crowded place" and, not only was no one hit by a stray bullet, there were no stray bullets at all.
No innocent bystanders hit by any of the armed citizens.
No armed citizen accidentally shot by another armed citizen.
No confusion about who were good guys and who was not.

Not one of the standard anti-gun horror-story tropes even remotely fit these events as they played out in real life. So embarrassing. If you're an anti-gunner of the Bloombergian ilk, this church shooting is the worst of all possible outcomes, and the sooner the world moves on from this incident the better. Which kind of makes the fact that he's even mentioning it a bit of an own-goal.

I agree that irresponsible "average guys" shouldn't pull out guns. But in Texas, we are all responsible for our actions under the law. The first thing that a good concealed carry instructor teaches is that if you pull your weapon you will be investigated by a grand jury. If you fire your weapon, you are responsible (both criminally and civilly) for your bullets. And while some lefties like Bloomberg assume that we are all wild-eyed fanatics evidence says we aren't.

Think about it, if ANY civilians pulled without reason or shot irresponsibly, we would hear the media screaming about it for months. Nevermind the fact that Wilson and his fellow guards did exactly what they trained to do: eliminate the threat with as little bloodshed as possible.

Why would anyone consider Bloomberg to be presidential material when he misses the obvious by such a wide margin?
