We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
I think there are two somewhat different examples of this. The politician type, or maybe a businessman, who must act in a certain way to get elected or keep customers. Yes they are still hypocrites but there motive is understandable. But then there are those who seem unaware, in an echo chamber, and are clueless to how bad they look. They fly their private jets 10,000 miles to rub shoulders with others who flew their private jets to get there and then wail and gnash their teeth over using fossil fuels that is harming our planet. They have a "let them eat cake" kind of philosophy. Does anyone think that the Hollywood set won't still fly their private jets after we implement a carbon tax that keeps the hoi polloi from being able to afford to drive their cars?
