1619 Project: We miss the mark if we think they are trying to teach history. They are trying to use history to teach political beliefs. As that sort of social historian believes that there is no clear real history anyway, and it is all an exercise of one group imposing power on another in their interpretation, they do not see this as the least inappropriate. The authors will regard all criticism is merely some aspect of the power structure protecting its turf. Whether something is correct or not is not even part of the equation.

That's the whole downfall of Marxist and neo-Marxist approaches to history, like critical theory. In short, they start with an explanation, class struggle between oppressor and oppressed groups, and then work to fit events to reflect that narrative. It's not unscientific, it's precisely anti-scientific.

Buffett is only half right.

Companies - and by that I mean its board of directors and officers - should do what's in the best interest of its owners, i.e. the shareholders.

But the government shouldn't step in and meddle where it doesn't belong, i.e. where its actions are either not specifically proscribed by the Constitution or where they are specifically prohibited. An example would be health care - which the federal government has caused to be more expensive and more complicated than it would otherwise be. The government solution now is to surreptitiously limit access and hamper quality.

"anti-trans bigotry" I have to admit I had to read that line a few times to figure out if they meant opposed to trans or opposed to any opposition to trans. Then I read the article and was again confused. The language is confusing. I am not even sure what personal pronouns they are talking about. I guess that this woman believes that there are only two genders AND believes that she has the right to that opinion. It would seem the other side believes that there are more than two genders and only they have a right to any opinion about it and all other opinions must be banned and punished. OK, given the years of tantrums by the left and the queer (can I say queer?) for "equal" rights I do believe that the covers have not only been lifted but have disappeared and what they want is special rights for them and no rights for you. Now you can get fired for not believing their odd sexual claims and you can get fired by not using the right pronouns. And it will get worse. In the U.S. you can burn the flag but you can't burn the rainbow flag because they will put you in jail for years.

I am still stumped when I read an article that uses the label "trans-woman". Does that mean a biological woman who is now claiming to be a male or a biological male who is now claiming to be a woman? I truly don't know.

Life's far too short and there are so many other much more interesting things to concern myself with.

Like taking my dog for a quiet walk in the woods which I'm just heading out to do right now.

Armed parishioners terrifying: Not sure why any reasonable person would be terrified of law abiding citizens protecting themselves and their church. The armed guards didn't harm anyone except the murderer. They have been armed at that church for at least a year and a half and nobody was harmed before this (I know that because if it had happened, the media would have screamed it from the rooftops).

Not being able to differentiate between good guys and bad guys is a sign of ignorance. Educate yourself before spouting any more nonsense, Rosas.

Do these people realize that by advocating reducing cultivated farmland, use of Genetically modified crops, and ending the use of chemical fertilizers they are in fact advocating genocide? Expert: Half of UK Farmland Must Be Abandoned

Is this from the same set of experts that told us "raptors are so sensitive that building suburbs would destroy their habitat and drive them to extinction"?

I live now in one of those suburbs and I see far more raptors feasting on rabbits and prairie dogs in my 'hood, than I ever did when I growing up in the country, far from such intrusive subdivisions.

These so-called "experts" need to stop be-clowning themselves!
