Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

re Dems may impeach Trump again
One wonders if they will still be impeaching him in the distant future after he leaves office? Perhaps in 6 or 7 years they can retroactively impeach him and convict him in the Senate? Or perhaps after Trump is dead, they can dig him up and impeach him again. The blinding hate towards Trump is really something. It appears that blinding hate is all they have left. I could feel badly for those remaining rank-and-file Dems that are still driven by ideals, except that they ultimately have to decide whether the Party and its misleaders continue to serve their ideals. I get the sense that an increasing number of them are facing that decision.
If they don't have a House majority, it can't happen.
Hint, hint. I really don't believe it's hate, I think professional pols are too jaded to let excess emotion cloud their plotting. I really think this bizarre behavior is due to two things: Trump represents an existential threat to their way of life and their power structure, primarily because he's an outsider that cannot be controlled because he owes no one, and secondly, because the nature of his threat is so outrageous, and they are so entrenched, that they have a paucity of creative solutions at their disposal; they're in such a deep rut they can no longer innovate. Hence they have turned to the political-nuclear weapons and have somehow convinced themselves that Mutual Assured Destruction is the way to go. Won't they be surprised.
Sheesh, like the Whiskey Rebellion
Maybe like the American Revolution. [b]I predict four more years of it [/b I predict five (the rest of this year and all his second term)and then they will do the same for the next Republican president. Remember, the Democrats have considered impeaching every Republican president since Eisenhower. The DEMs. like their Marxist overlords, will NOT ACCEPT the outcome of any election they don't win!
Plus, they take every opportunity to jigger or defat election laws intended to ensure fair and honest elections, in favor of "letting everyone exercise their right to vote;".....prisoners, the dead and illegal aliens included! The phrase "Vote early....and often!" is a perfect example their Marxist philosophy on elections, as are the words of Stalin: "It doesn't matter WHO votes, what matters is who COUNTS the votes." re The coming gun confrontation in VA.
More at PJ media. https://pjmedia.com/trending/virginia-weighs-deploying-national-guard-to-enforce-new-anti-gun-laws-things-could-get-ugly/ Given the overwhelming, white hot opposition to Governor Blackface's gun confiscation scheme, one would think the prudent political course of action would be to back down and abandon the idea. However, as most readers here likely already know, Blackface is considering calling out the National Guard to enforce his position. So it appears Blackface's ego and arrogance won't permit him to back down. If he won't, perhaps the legislature will? If they don't back down then Katy bar the door. The brinkmanship continues . . . Enjoyed his radio show on and off for years. Stubbornly refused treatment for his prostate cancer - chose herbal treatments. Supplements instead of expensive, painful and generally worthless MEDICAL treatments promoted by CANCER Treatment, Inc.??? Why, whatever was wrong with him? Depriving CANCER Treatment, Inc. of their income like that? Ridiculous. There are many different cancers, and over the last two decades we have increased life expectancies year over year. I can understand anyone saying "I don't want treatment, I'm ready to die" for just about anything, not just cancer. But don't go encouraging people to think they don't have choices.
Prostate cancer is ridiculously easy to test for, simple blood test added to your yearly checkup, and all it requires is that you pay attention to its trend. Caught early there is a very good chance of cure, and robotic surgery these days is not terribly invasive with pretty quick recovery, if in good general health. Deal with it early, get a good subsequent chance of long life. I know three guys that procrastinated and are now facing grim, slow, long-term declines. Test yearly, trend it, don't procrastinate. Autopsies show that 80% of men who are 80 yrs old or better have some sign of the disease.
Our government ALLOWS the quacks and nutcases to sell their herbs and natural treatments AND to make false claims about legitimate treatments. IMHO every one of these cases should be fought in court and a price paid for false practice. Look at Samoa; thousands have contracted measles and 70 or so have died from it. And even while this is happening a well known anti-vaxer was preaching of the risks of the measles vaccine and encouraging surrounding nations to ignore the threat of the measles spreading. In a proper society she would be charged, tried, convicted and hung.
re: Nordstrom's Bans 85-Year-Old Salvation Army Bell Ringer
Warning Obstreperous Pedant Alert Unlike Macy’s (but similar to Lord & Taylor, and FAO Schwarz), Nordstrom does not use an “‘s” in its store name. The linked story gets it right, using the ‘s only once, when indicating “Nordstrom’s downtown Seattle store.” So the correct title should be “Nordstrom bans 85-Year Old...” I used to love shopping there, and maybe that’s why I get a bee in my bonnet over such an innocuous thing, but there it is. There’s beauty in accuracy. |
