We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
re Why Guys Should Steer Clear of Impossible Whoppers
Saw this a few days ago.
The impossible whopper has 44 mg of estrogen and the whopper has 2.5 ng of estrogen. … That means an impossible whopper has 18 million times as much estrogen as a regular whopper. Just six glasses of soy milk per day has enough estrogen to grow boobs on a male. That’s the equivalent of eating four impossible whoppers per day.
It surprises me that this level of estrogen is allowed in synthetic food.
The potential deformity aside, I shudder to think what this would do to a man's sex drive.
There is also this:
The impossible whopper has 10 grams of usable protein and the whopper has 22 grams of usable protein. So you would have to eat two and a quarter impossible whoppers to get the same protein in one whopper.
re Virginia Governor Northam Increases Corrections Budget In Anticipation Of Jailing Gun Owners
I have been watching with some interest the high stakes poker being played between the governor and the electorate. Bid raise and counter raise. Will the governor eventually fold or will he use force as he has threatened?
This is a stupid piece of propaganda by Virginia's politicians. I assume they thought this was really funny. The politicians intend to take a right from their citizens in total disregard of the constitution. The people are rightfully angry over this. In many ways this is the same as Hillary's choice to call 65 million American voters "deplorables". Their problem is they live in their bubble and their hangers on patronize them and tell them they are right. These politicians and the AG need to go. Hopefully at the ballot box but the people are really pissed at them so they may not wait.
The hidden story is that these politicians were bought and paid for by outside money and special interests. This is an assault on Virginia and their citizens. I am in favor of bringing back the guillotine.
Remember, to the Democrats, any attempt by Trump to defend himself is by definition obstruction.
Pelosi seems to be trying to ensure the articles actually make it to a Senate committee and trial, not just a resolution on the order of the sense of the Senate is that the facts as alleged do not rise to the level of "High crime or misdemeanor". Somewhat curiously, this seems to be what Trump also wants to avoid.
Another Guy Named Dan
"Phone Trump. He can fix anything."
When it comes to construction projects, I believe it.
Impossible burger: Is anyone surprised it might not be good for you?
Another area I'm interested in is Where the Tariffs are going? If the government is really collecting 25%, and other levels, on goods, they must have a pretty good income stream coming in. For all the countries that are playing the game.
I thought I saw a story that China had given exemptions to importers of certain goods which means not only do they really need those items, but are willing to forego the additional income they could pull from it.
What items are you seeing a higher charge for, or empty shelves because the importer doesn't want to play?
"Angry Tears Flow As Politicians Fail To Stop 'Climate Darkness' In Madrid"
It never seems to occur to the globalist gang that there is absolutely no legal authority above the nation state to compel any action. Everything must be achieved by consensus.
I might add that if the highest-level leadership of the UN can be easily hectored and cowed by a 16 year-old girl from Sweden, it's hardly the sort of outfit that's going to be ramrodding draconian anti-climate change measures through nearly 200 sovereign states.
Atolls are unstable. They move, rise, spread out, sink, all completely independent of sea level. Kiribati, the one whose native wanted everyone to get worried about, is moving, not sinking. Her daughters and granddaughters will be able to dance in native costume before climate panickers fifty years from now.
