Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

A lot of info on the IG disclosures this week...and plenty of distractions with the usual Christmastime hustle and bustle...but step back a moment and think about what has happened to this great country in the past 3+ years...the worst scandal in our history.
I'm thinking about what I read in recent lectionary - His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor and will gather his wheat into the granary; but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire." I'm praying for a day of reckoning...it is needed. People on both sides of the Trump presidency are still interpreting things differently, a la Scott Adam's "watching two different movies on the same screen" theory, when it comes to the IG's report. But more importantly, the players on the wrong side of history, both inside the imbroglio and on the sidelines reporting it, are still spouting their bullshit - unrepentant and unwavering, trying to overrule the report's central message, which is not ambiguous, although it is low-key. That means the objective has not yet been realized: It ain't over until someone hollers uncle, and I don't think even the upcoming election is going to be decisive in this sense; The result won't be respected any more than the last one was, if it's the 'wrong' result. One side has to submit and I increasingly believe it's going to take (more) violence to do it.
I am not reading impeachment news about how devastating any discoveries or reports are until people start being actually punished. It is being spun as vindication because in the absence of anyone being fired, fined, or going to jail, people will believe what their news sources tell them. Comey's report on Hillary was devastating, but stopped short of declaration of criminality. What came of it? Nothing.
From what I can tell in headlines, Horowitz did an excellent job, but stopped short of stating the most important sentence. That won't be enough. I continue to have hope that this is the volleyball set for Durham's spike. But until a point is scored, I'm not reading. Having seen it from the inside, I'd offer you the observation that most IGs are not much more than HR administrators. I'm somewhat surprised that the report went to the depth it did, but not the slightest bit surprised that it ultimately tap danced around the problem with the intent defense. The Apparatus really doesn't like telling on itself unless there's a need for a scalp or two.
That said, I'd agree with you that this may very well be Horowitz' attempt to set the table for Durham, who is in a position to make a difference. I'm my experience, that sort of move takes a great deal of nerve at that level, which is probably why it tends to be rare. Time on Saint Greta: imagine (or try to anyway) that Greta was conservative and was using the same strident voice to talk about big government eroding our freedoms. Would she get any love from Time or the mainstream media?
Not to mention, I'd like to address the UN.
Is there a signup sheet somewhere? I did see a meme last night that said that Greta was the perfect representation f this year: An ignorant millennial full of passion and emotion but bereft of facts having a screaming fit because "boomers" weren't doing things exactly the way she wanted them done.
Remember the "some as young as 14" part of the Jeffrey Epstein story, why doesn't that apply to Greta as in she too young to know better.
" A Professor Tried To End a Flirty Email Exchange With a Young Woman."
Come come! Don't you realize that this is how 90% of women get ahead. Did Kamala Harris demonstrate great ability in the law or in bed? Look at Fox news now. 80% of the stars there are women, all the men were pushed out by sexual allegations. Harvey Weinstein was a jerk trading sex for opportunities for women to have starring roles. Everyone knew that. So what does that make the women who traded sex for starring roles??? "Take everything away from St. Greta and her 15 disciples that has any link to fossil fuels."
Don't be silly. This is no more about taking away fossil fuels then the great cigarette lawsuit was about saving lives from lung cancer. No! This is about money; YOUR money. How do you loot the richest counter in the world especially if they are a democracy and can vote their leaders into office??? Simple, dumb down their children in school and use immigration to dilute their voters and ban any discussion of the fact while simultaneously shaming them with propaganda into voting for their own demise. It would make a great Hollywood script but Hollywood is in on the scam and they won't tell the truth either. As for Greta, we should keep in m ind that it is more her parents and supporters who are at fault. She's just a sick little girl being put forward as a prop. She does not deserve our ire half so much as they do.
Well said. That's the point that has largely been missed in this whole story. Of course, when an issue like this reaches its Childrens' Crusade phase, it's usually a spent force anyway.
Eric Holder might be the most law-breaking AG we’ve ever had, so he should sit this one out.
